This is fantastic to watch and I really enjoy the different perspective this gives from the American bonsai content I've gotten used to. Your film making skills have gone to a whole new level. Exceptional mate, well done!
Observing the two environments(American and Japanese Bonsai), Japanese Bonsai seems like the strict dedication to their methodology will keep on producing high quality trees, but it looks like there's a stubbornness in Japanese culture in general to consider anything outside of the norm and does feel like it will inevitably stunt the natural progression of Bonsai as it has done in other areas. In the Japanese tech and automotive industries, they used to be the world leaders in the 80's and early 90's, but have fallen behind other nations. I'm just wondering if there's a correlation between that strict corporate culture and some of the crafts like bonsai, and the way their apprenticeships are presented. It almost seems religious at times with no room for individual expression or new schools of thought.

At 11:30 in your video, Kaya is using a watering lance that produces the finest jets of water I have ever seen, almost like steam. Do you know what the make or brand the lance is please?

I'd like to be an apprentice in japan, but i'm handicapped, i'm in a wheel chair. I don't know if i could.
