    Total commercial vehicles is converted to axle numbers by multiplying with axle percentage. Should we not convert vehicles to axles by multiplying with average number of axles, similar to IRC:58 procedure?

      Here we are considering one tandem axle equal to two and one tridem axle equal to three standard axles, which is not the case in IRC:58

    How to calculate expected or estimated repetition? Can you please elaborate? As I have not done axle load survey.

      You need axle load survey data to carry out CFD of CTB layer. If you do not have this data, you will need to assume some so that you can check the criticality of the design.

    Sir in Tandem axle calculation tensile stress for 120kN might not be 0.46 ,it's 0.24 overall CFD for tandem is 0.50?

    Sir, I think to find the design axles, we need to multiply the Total no of commercial vehicles with average axle per vehicle. But here you directly used the total no of commercial vehicles

    I have a problem sir as design of flexible pavement. problem is subgrade of embankment is weak below 5% as in case 3.7%. what should I do, for this condition , I should design fist case template as granular layer with bitumen layer, but considering this case, having loose strength CBR, the thickness of BC and DBM are high comparative given in IRC 37: 2018 examples tables from 5% to 12 % CBR. Below to 5% CBR , no any example so what I should do?
    OR I should do as 2,3 case granular layer with CTB for weak embankment?

      What is the effective CBR of subgrade soil? Watch this video if you want to refresh the method (th-cam.com/video/q3bWcjr4avY/w-d-xo.html) of getting Effective CBR.
      The effective CBR should not be less than 5 percent as per IRC 37.

      @@SatishIITR sir, subgrade has 3.6 % CBR and one day two way CVPD is 240>450. what should i do, no any material combination (case 1 to 5 )for below 5% effective CBR is not provided in Tables of material combination cases.

    sir,
    I have two questions .
    1. when we prepare axle load spectrum from axle load survey data, do we need to take the rear axle load only or the both front and rear axle.
    2.you have mentioned that the fatigue life N should be greater than the design life which I also feel correct. But in the code on page no 7 , it mentioned that N should be less than the design life.

      1. Yes, weight to me taken for all the axles including front axle.

    CTB+AIL+DBM combination has thicker DBM than CTB+ SAMI+DBM combination. Why so? Either way CTB is not directly in contact with DBM.

      aggregate layer is not a bound and therefore minimum thickness is needed to check the crack reflection.

    Thanku very much sir for such video. Sir in single and tandom axle we have considered one fourth as wheel load where as in tridem axle we have taken one third as wheel load. Why is it so?

      No, wheel load is same in both the cases. What we are doing here is that we are increasing the number of repetition by 3 and then reducing the axle load by 3 and then dividing it again by 4 to get the wheel load. For example, a tandem axle load of 380 kN is first divided by 2 to get the equivalent number of single axles and then by 4 to get wheel load. In case of Tridem axle, the axle load of 570 kN is first divided by 3 to get the equivalent number of single axles and then by 4 to get wheel load. I hope it is clear now.

      How to use analyse this section.
      How to find out the back calculated modules? In KGPS. (As we know...
      kgp back is a 3 layers system).

    Sir, Is it advisable to use BC= 50 mm, AIL=100mm, CTB=110, CTSB= 200 mm for 20 msa, Effective CBR =8%, for 90 percent reliability, Regards Gobinder Singh Virdee
