IT'S BEEN MODDED!!! R.I.P. 1958 Westinghouse Traction Elevator at the Butler County Courthouse

  • [Recorded 10/12/2021] Well I had a feeling we've seen this coming. From what I learned (or at least from what I can guess) Industrial-Commercial Elevator [ICE] did the mod on this and replace pretty much everything, expect for maybe the elevator's cab. This thing's got a new controller, new door operators, and maybe even a new motor on it. TBH... I couldn't really hear the motor on it because the loud-ass NEW FAN they install in it; but I'm pretty sure about 99.9% sure they replaced the motor on this thing.
Also MOST of the floors are key-carded off now -- as you can see I could not access floors 4, 3, and the basement. (Strange that they key-carded off the third floor because I'm pretty sure there's some offices still in use up there and also Courtroom 6. I could understand why they would lock-off the basement and the fourth level, because those floors are pretty much abandoned now; pretty much ever since they relocated stuff to the newer Government Center/County Building wing.) So it kinda pisses me, and Patrick Nedz off because the previous mod on this thing was pretty much only a slap-on mod but kept the original controllers and motor on it; but you know what they say: "All good things don't always last" and this is a prefect literal example of that statement. I'll give this thing only a couple months before it breaks downs (because "apparently" all us Americans love our shit cheap these days). Maybe even less. So with that being said; I don't think I'll be recording another video of this thing ever again.
Also they could have at least painted the doors on the first floor to match the rest of the frame around the elevator. This is making my OCD act up!

Acting this way in a courthouse is an easy way to get charged with contempt of court...

Please don't add to this drama. I know what I did was pretty stupid. I apologize.

No need to make a huge scene

I apologize for that. But you do understand how I feel whenever a mod happens to a nearly original OLD elevator from like the 1940s/'50s/'60s etc. etc.

It just had Adams before & I think it was broken for an extended amount of time, possibly "beyond repair." Sure mechanically it was completely original but esp. because of that it probably was about time for a mod.

@@EWPA14 it was all original equipment other than possible OEM replacement parts over the years.
Sadly the original one did have issues, one of the most common issues was opening not level with the floor, this actually caused someone to trip getting off years ago. Other issues it had was stalling out and getting people stuck, usually after the door closed and it wouldn’t go anywhere.
Not sure what finally broke on it that made them mod it though.
The original elevator was cool though, liked the sound of the motor and relays and the brakes when it would engage before opening.
Wish they would have gone with Otis though, I think it would have been nicer.
This is sad though I never thought I would see the day this thing bit the dust.

Yeah I had a feeling it was inevitable for this thing to finally breakdown completely beyond repair at some point (I mean it's bound to happen sooner or later eventually). It did have it's good run for awhile though. Pretty much for over 60-years with the original motor and controller. TBH I think this complete overhaul (with the exception of maybe the cab) might not last as long as the one prior to this did. Proof that stuff back then was MADE TO LAST for a very long time.

Yeah most likely. And I'm sure this won't last as long.

I mean they could have at least kept the old indicator intact or use a newer one that looked similar to the original one, and maybe even use CJ Anderson for the buttons instead of Innovation Universal.
