Really enjoyed these 2 videos. Only just found your channel, and you have made me think about getting an electric bike. I was against it for years, but now i have a leg that doesn't want to play nicely, I can see the use for bikes like these. It will get me back out in the great outdoors and hopefully lift my mood from being out of the mountains for a year. I've got some reading up on electric bikes to be done this weekend now. 😁
Hope you enjoyed the research on the e-bikes, lots of options out there. For me I’ve never really been interested in going cycling but I love going out to explore on my e-bike
Hi Alex, it be great to see a best off van kit for cold weather, eg best diesal heater, best diesal heater exchanger to heat water , best engine heat exchanger to heat up water tanks for shower , best underfloor heating glycol with diesal exchanger or eleric heat pads, best recurculating shower system with best filters and 1 of my favourite vids was your solar when 100% heats up water tank with heating element of solar thats awesome 😊 best solar setup or portable ecoflow unit etc, ive just redone my van its a shell now so its working out the best value kit that works and reliable and as you done cold 🥶 trips and know what works be a cool video 😊
Best can be subjective to use case and budget. Which is why a lot of my video reviews are not so much about the best ( because of those variations ) bit more explaining and showing variety of different things so the person watching can see what might be best for their use case. But for my new van, I’m building that will definitely have quite a lot of what I feel is best for my needs
@@MispronouncedAdventures it be good to see a vid on all the tech and stuff that you think is best, what alternator do you thinks the best to charge 12v battery got a vauxhall movano and looking for a good alternator to charge while driving
Glad to see that the adventure continued without further falls. Jo seems to be a real trooper and enjoying the photography side of things. A distinct lack of churches tough might put a dent on her enthusiasm. Great video again, Alex. Disappointed to see that your tent doesn't have a diesel heater 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep! No more falls! lots of photography options, even though a lack of churches plenty bridges. As for the tent warm enough in the sleeping bags, although I do have a portable diesel heater in the van
Watching this video today sparked a spooky coincidence, my wife and I were looking through some old photo albums earlier and we were looking at our trip from Fort William to Balmoral and on to Dundee from about 20 years ago. We were looking at a picture of the first bridge that Jo took pictures of and could not remember where it was, hopefully you can answer this for us ? Another great video BTW👌👌

That was inspiring! My dream adventure would be to bike the Faröer Islands on an e-bike. Now am I right to assume your e-bikes cannot recuperate during deceleration? That‘d be something I‘d love to engineer (so you can use it like a retarder on long descents while recharging your batteries). Guess those big tyres don’t help either when in pushing mode but with those tracks, you probably wouldn’t have wanted anything thinner… Nice video, looking forward to more like that should it come!
I don't have an Ebike yet but I've been looking into regeneration. Even if you can do it you don't get much back, not even 20% IIRC. Plus you need a management system that can handle it 😕
hi guys nice vidoe for me i bikepack on a cannondal topstone good bikepacking. Electric it is to big to heavy no place to recharge in middld of nowhere padal power for me thank you 👍
The "conventional" route to Braemar would have been up Glen Tilt/Falls of Tarf, probably an equal amount of pushing but a shorter distance? I learned quickly from experience that anything on OS/Memory Map that is a single broken line in the Cairngorms is most likely hell, and quite often doesn't exist anymore!!(Once pushed my E-MTB through 5km of knee deep heather following a river where there should have been a track...)
Being British I’m the unit of measurement equivalent of bilingual 😂 I often switch between imperial and metric depending on specific circumstances. For example, driving my van, any uk road signs would be in miles for distance and miles per hour for speeds. ( apart from when I’m in Europe, I use kilometres. ) However, for map base navigation such as a hiking, trekking and mountaineering context or anything which uses our OS mapping system is based in kilometres and kilometres per hour for walking speed. Additionally, any of the UK based outdoor qualifications which I have such as the mountain leader would be based in kilometres. However, I could see for some people riding a bike it might come across as confusing. It’s map based navigation and routes in a outdoor context so it would be instinctively in kilometres for me. but since I’m on a “vehicle” and not walking, I use miles per hour for speed
@@MispronouncedAdventures Them electric bikes you’re riding are definitely being put through their test hopefully you do a review on them. Keep up the good videos 👍
Thanks for sharing part 2 Alex, a real tough adventure, that you’re both just taking in your stride and figuring it out on the go. Brilliant stuff
It’s been a great adventures. definitely a bit of different one for me

Some of those track are really well made, well done to Scotland 👍🏼👍🏼
Definitely, some of the access roads where great. Even better the new cycle paths on route to Ballater

If it's the bridge I think you are referring to, it's roughly halfway along the river Dee between Braemar and Inver. ☺️
That’s the time stamp of that part?

Thank you! I hope so too! Bike videos don’t do as well on my channel in the short term but they seems to pick up long term
Great video really love the Cairngorms hopefully back down there this winter.
My favourite national park of the UK! Hopefully you get back there this winter
aaaayooo 👍
Thank you
I think you need to take the van to Rome for Jo to see the churches there
But are there interesting bridges as well?

Yes, almost no E bikes have regenerative breaking as a feature. There must be a specific technical reason for it.
@@MispronouncedAdventures Cost?
No idea but if I could afford an e-bike that I can take apart, I'd build it!

we did bring somewhere to recharge it with us. But that’s also not the point on the e-bike trips you just plan your distances for recharge point.

It was a windy day that day. There is only some much wind noise recovery I can do in post
Not cold enough for you
That is very correct!
Must ask why kilometers seems everything is KM... I ran 5km I rode 25km what happened to miles ??
