20 Minute Live Coilover Install - Mk1 VW Golf / Rabbit ST Suspension install fun challenge

PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR THE TORQUE SETTINGS AND TOOL LIST :-)
20 minutes to remove the old suspension and to install a new ST Suspensions Coilover, on a 1981 Mk1 Rabbit Pickup Truck (aka VW Caddy, same as a Mk1 Golf, Citi Golf, Mk1 Cabriolet etc).
Recorded live during 2020 Covid-19 shelter-in-place. Working on cars should be fun, and this shouldn’t be an intimidating install even if you’re a first time DIYer. Make sure to get the suspension aligned afterwards though..
Hopefully this shows you everything you need to install the front coilovers on a Mk1 Golf platform, with some helpful tips and best practices thrown in. (Just don’t drop the bolts or nuts, oops).
TORQUE SETTINGS :
// Strut bearing (mount) to strut (the very top bolt) : 70Nm / 52 ft.lb.
// Strut mount to body (top 2 x 13mm nuts) : 20Nm / 15 ft.lb.
// Wheel bearing housing to strut (bottom 2 x bolts) : 80Nm. / 59 lb.ft.
TOOLS :
// 22mm O2 Sensor socket (for top nut - very cheap to buy - $8.99 option- www.harborfrei... )
// 6mm allen hess. socket (to stop strut spinning)
// 17mm socket for original lower bolts (and wheel bolts)
// 19mm socket for new ST camber bolts
// 13mm socket (upper nuts)
// 13mm wrench (passenger side access for one top nut)
// Torque wrench (20Nm to 80Nm range)
