It reminds listeners of the tremendous ABSENCE of Yemeni or other Arab Jewish presence/contributions to society...they have all but been 'disappeared' by ashkeNazim majority in Israel. The Yemenite Songs version (I guess, strictly speaking it's the 2nd version, but the first solo one?) is great, too. But the '88 "English mix" from Shaday has its charms as its the first one I heard. There are a couple subsequent remixes which aren't so great.
I was just a 8-9 years old kid when i first listened this song from a tv clip during 80's, but it was another version. Things stuck in my mind from that days were a centipede crawling, a woman on a arid hill singing and this beautiful song. Melodi so beautiful it is hard to ignore it.

The Yemenite Songs version (I guess, strictly speaking it's the 2nd version, but the first solo one?) is great, too. But the '88 "English mix" from Shaday has its charms as its the first one I heard. There are a couple subsequent remixes which aren't so great.

I was just a 8-9 years old kid when i first listened this song from a tv clip during 80's, but it was another version. Things stuck in my mind from that days were a centipede crawling, a woman on a arid hill singing and this beautiful song. Melodi so beautiful it is hard to ignore it.
