    Thank you for this. Just did mine over the weekend. This really helped. One note, while taking the hub off was not difficult I did need a puller to slide it off. Little to no pressure was required though. I just turned the puller axle by hand and the hub bearing came right off!

    For info on torque setting: The Haynes Service and Repair manual S40 & V40 states; Hub nut pre-1998 model ( 240 Nm ), 1998-onwards ( 120 Nm + Angle-tighten a further 60 degrees)

    1:35 Copper grease ENCOURAGES galvanic corrosion between the aluminium alloy wheels and steel hub... copper grease is OK to use between 2 steel surfaces, but not between steel and aluminium.....

    ABS ring snapped when changing the discs and pads (vibration from hitting the disc to loosen I guess) so this comes in handy, cheers.

    Thank you for this video. Just a question. At the moment to pull out the bearing, you didn't had any resistance? Does it just pop out like that? I have to change the splash panels, and need to remove them. Though it was a big job...

      If the bearing is in anything other that completely worn out it should take little or no effort to come forward.

      +Pat Fripp ok. Will make it this weekend then. I have to pass the MOT with this car, but have to change the splash panels because mine are totally rusty. But I was affraid it was a big deal. Will check it out and see. Thanks again

    hello im doing the same job and i cant get the new one back on did you have to pound it on... i put it on and then it gets stuck and wont go on any further and then i have to pull it off in pieces and pound off the remaining part left on the spindle..... let me know thanks :)

      It should be a smooth fit with the metal cleaned if needed and a little grease it should slide right on with no effort.
      If that is not the case it sounds like there is something wrong with the replacement part.

    So there was no bearing press needed for this job? I have a 2000 Volvo S40 and need to replace my rear assemblies, the parts are the same as the 2001 you're working on here, correct?

    • @PatFripp
      @PatFripp  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      troyez your right. no press needed as the hub and bearing come pre assembled.

      I have a 98 Volvo S90 and have to do this now. This is looking similiar, can't seem to find a constant video like this. You know if these instructions are the same? Thanks.

    Hi. What is the original brake disc brand of the s40?

    • @PatFripp
      @PatFripp  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am afraid I do not know. I always use the part recommended by my local motor factors.
