I ran into Peter at a Detroit gig. Now I'm 6'8" and fairly large, but with some friends, I called out that he's not that big. So he dropped his gear and stared me eye to eye. I was awe struck and smiled. He turned around, not ever saying a word to us, and walked away. I still talk about this with my friends to this day. RIP

Great video. Definitely get a Baritone for your lower tuning videos. Will make things so much easier. And you don't need an Evertune. With the longer scale you can still use lighter strings but tune down lower and it keeps the tuning and intonation so well. Look at. a28-inch scale Baritone like the Ibanez RGIB6 and you can go anywhere from B Standard down to Drop F, just depending on your string gauges. Thanks for the videos :)

First happy belated birthday on Halloween.And thanks for both of your videos on Type O, I enjoyed them very much and yet, I'm left a bit frustrated that you're not going more specific on the various setting of the sound. mentioning the type of rig is used is almost useless without a precise quantitative analysis of the different effects and setting gain, EQ , chorus, delay and so on. Do you know what Kenny and Peter used precisely, or at least can you be more specifics in the clinic of your own covers , what were your setting for both of them? What kind if distorsion and effect setting did use on the chorus and delay sound (or if you know the setting for the symphonic SPX special chorus fx used in OR) and also what kind of effects did you use in the mix of your vocal track? Since you suggested in your video that we might request that you might get more indepth, for another video dedicated to TON, here's my formal request. Thanks in advance and thanks for what you're doing.
Warmoth made a guitar for an old friend that played a lot of doom metal. I remember he chose them because he liked playing with thick strings. Sounded great!

I had this album on a cassette tape back when it came out and I remember listening to it so much that the sound quality of the tape started fading, but I also remember being annoyed by those noise tracks that they put in between every third song because there was no way to skip them without fast forwarding the tape so I had to listen to them every time. :)

Glad you like it man. As for tips I'm not that experienced with lower tunings but from my experience thicker necks, filed nuts, lots of scope on the saddles to intonate and lubed nut, saddles etc help.

Low tuning is fine with the low 6 from a Ernie Ball Power Slinky 7string set. I use the 58 as a low B, sometimes drop to A, but that 58 can handle low G on a 25.5"scale. Even on short scale guitars, B standard kicks ass

I believe I said this in the last Type O video, but I was Peter for last Halloween while my girlfriend and her friends were as the Spice Girls, so we called ourselves: "Spice O Negative"😆 We went to our local Dave & Buster's - where there was a last-minute Halloween party - where we got a lot of compliments. One guy told me that Peter would have approved of my costume, to which I replied - in my best Peter Steele voice - "And by 'approved,' he would've said: 'You couldn't find someone *better* to dress up as this year?'" 😆 One part of the night was a karaoke contest, where each participant got to sing three songs each. My GF & her friends sang the Spice Girls' _"Wannabe," "2 Become 1,"_ and _"Spice Up Your Life,"_ while I sang _"In Praise of Bacchus,"_ (as you did in the first video) _"Halloween in Heaven,"_ (fitting huh?) and _"I Don't Wanna Be Me."_ I won the contest with my performance of _"In Praise of Bacchus,"_ and the prize was 90 minutes of free games. I then closed the contest with my GF - who was Sporty Spice (Mel C) - in a duet on Blink-182's _"I MIss You;"_ only on Halloween will you see Peter Steele & Sporty Spice singing Blink-182 together. It was a Halloween to remember for sure!

Am I the only one who solely thinks that Pyretta Blaze is not about femme fatale women? I used to think like that before, but look more into track listing of World Coming Down and theres usually interludes before or after the tracks like after White Slavery theres Sinus. Lung comes right before Pyretta Blaze and the lyrics fit perfectly for it.
When you talk about tape 30 ips was the industry standard for the most part, but a lot of grunge and heavy bands would record at 15 ips for a lower heavier sound. Not to mention it saved money.
You missed the slide up to 12 on the a string then 12 on the e string before the high bend. Damn great job still, especially with tone. Btw if you try a soldano thru 65watt celestion ir you get a really close tone aswell once you add the usual reverb hickey uses. Far as strings and tuning i use a gibson sg with 50,38,28,16,11,9 and have no issue tuning to b standard
WITH THE LOGO! They'd had the logo and had it inked on them.... the band was called "Subzero". There was already a band named that so they lost the name. They had the logo they loved n had it inked so they went with "Type O Negative" Amazing band. The 1st sing on this LP, after the "skip it" track is called "white slavery" about Pete's cocaine addiction, prob my fave song in the LP.... sooo amazing! There are 5 or 6 songs on the LP that are some of my fave from their entire catalog!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘💚🖤💚🖤💚
@@AnotherAnon it was an st69 into a chameleon Labs 1073 style pre into a DBX160. Triple tracked with the main vocal louder and devil lok plugin. The other two tracks one had short delay and the other had micro shift vst.

How about some old crust stuff like Doom, Discharge, ENT etc, guessing there was zero budget for tone from these bands at the time, would be interesting to see their “tone on a shoestring”.
Baritone - try to get a Fernandes Ravelle Deluxe used. Fernades doesnt exist any more, so finding one might take a bit. Ravelle baritones can be had quite cheap, though. Comes with a 27“ neck, so it handles everything down to drop G with ease. Stock pickups are dual EMG 81s, so you might want to switch to other pickups. Tuning stability on mine was great out of the box. Only kicker - it‘s heavy a fuck, makes a non-relieved Paul feel skinny by comparison. I‘d loan you mine, but it‘s loaded with a Bigsby type trem and Filtertrons now, so it‘s probably not great for Metal any more 🤣.
@CIRCLE OF TONE Tuning down a P style Bass to B is possible and works out pretty good. Try a 5 - string set, gauge .45 - 1.30, and use the D, A, E and B string. I played my Warwick Streamer Stage I during the whole 1990's in this configuration, and the tone was fuckin great. And I know some fellow bassplayers who did the same to their Fender or Squier basses. Check it out, a set of strings won't break the Bank.
Self medicating is bad, I was falsely prescribed Klonopin in 2015 from a doctor for supposed anxiety. it would make me forget being locked in my room for 5 years and the anger of that for the moment but in the end I still had that hate when the good feeling ran it's course so all day I would look forward to taking that pill and I just got off of it a month and some days ago and I have no anxiety. Moral of the story is don't take pills or alcohol to self medicate only take pills if you and (not or) your doctor says u need them. Doctors aren't u and you know yourself more than anybody that Includes reasons for asking for pills. DON'T DO DRUGS

When guitar does this "uuuiiiiiii" bend after "Hallows Eve!" bass should do a four-note-octave-down-lick first. You missed that ;D However good cover and great job! Cheers!
If you listen to the first one I do at 4 seconds I do the 4 or 5 note scale (but the guitar on on the screen). Then on the next one (where you see the bass) I do that slide down instead. But yeah I didn't nail everything note for note.

They'd had the logo and had it inked on them.... the band was called "Subzero". There was already a band named that so they lost the name. They had the logo they loved n had it inked so they went with "Type O Negative"
Amazing band. The 1st sing on this LP, after the "skip it" track is called "white slavery" about Pete's cocaine addiction, prob my fave song in the LP.... sooo amazing!

What's going on with the vocals? Are they simpy double-tracked or is there are touch of chorus or something? (Obviously, pre-amp and compression too)
Both of those things. Haha. 3 tracks, one main one which has a lot of comp etc on the way in. One with a chorus tape. And one with a slight delay.

@@AnotherAnon it was an st69 into a chameleon Labs 1073 style pre into a DBX160. Triple tracked with the main vocal louder and devil lok plugin. The other two tracks one had short delay and the other had micro shift vst.

Baritone - try to get a Fernandes Ravelle Deluxe used. Fernades doesnt exist any more, so finding one might take a bit. Ravelle baritones can be had quite cheap, though. Comes with a 27“ neck, so it handles everything down to drop G with ease. Stock pickups are dual EMG 81s, so you might want to switch to other pickups. Tuning stability on mine was great out of the box. Only kicker - it‘s heavy a fuck, makes a non-relieved Paul feel skinny by comparison.
I‘d loan you mine, but it‘s loaded with a Bigsby type trem and Filtertrons now, so it‘s probably not great for Metal any more 🤣.

Tuning down a P style Bass to B is possible and works out pretty good. Try a 5 - string set, gauge .45 - 1.30, and use the D, A, E and B string.
I played my Warwick Streamer Stage I during the whole 1990's in this configuration, and the tone was fuckin great.
And I know some fellow bassplayers who did the same to their Fender or Squier basses.
Check it out, a set of strings won't break the Bank.

Self medicating is bad, I was falsely prescribed Klonopin in 2015 from a doctor for supposed anxiety. it would make me forget being locked in my room for 5 years and the anger of that for the moment but in the end I still had that hate when the good feeling ran it's course so all day I would look forward to taking that pill and I just got off of it a month and some days ago and I have no anxiety. Moral of the story is don't take pills or alcohol to self medicate only take pills if you and (not or) your doctor says u need them. Doctors aren't u and you know yourself more than anybody that Includes reasons for asking for pills. DON'T DO DRUGS
And for anyone who doesn't believe me I have permanent lip twitches now so thanks a lot doc I mean that in the most sarcastic way possible

When guitar does this "uuuiiiiiii" bend after "Hallows Eve!" bass should do a four-note-octave-down-lick first. You missed that ;D However good cover and great job! Cheers!
If you listen to the first one I do at 4 seconds I do the 4 or 5 note scale (but the guitar on on the screen). Then on the next one (where you see the bass) I do that slide down instead. But yeah I didn't nail everything note for note.
