He is weak in HOD 2. in HOD 1 he had more health and needed more bullet damage, was stronger and faster and in his final attack threw the fireballs upwards and you could not shoot him while shooting them, but in HOD 2 you can and kill him quickly.
I remember playing this game in the arcade room of a laser tag place when I was about 14. I panicked when I saw the guy at the well (1:46 in the video) and shot him square in the face, ending his life before the zombies even had a chance to attack. Having the hero turn around immediately after and say "there was nothing we could do...", in the most cold, sarcastic voice had me and my friends absolutely roaring with laughter. I don't think we won another game of laser tag the rest of that day because we were having more fun quoting that line any time one of our team got shot than trying to win!

I still own the console I used to play this game on and I still own the game and every now and then I replay it. I tried all the chapters of this saga but only 2 still manages to surprise me. The only thing I hate about The House Of The Dead 2 is, the lack of gore compared to the first chapter of the saga but beyond that, nothing else. The House Of The Dead 2 will remain one of my favorite childhood video games along with Medal Of Honor Vanguard:)
Thank you for the timestamps. I agree with you but Sega couldn't allow gore in the US version to make it less freaky since it was PG-13. The Japanese version might have gore but I may be wrong.
@@oosha2000 @oosha1445 @oosha1445 first of all you're welcome, I legitimately forgot that I wrote all the timestamps. second of all thank you !! I didn't know that to keep the game PG 16 Sega had to give up the gore, which actually makes perfect sense.
you know what the funny thing is? SEGA actually corrected some of the voice acting on the PC version, but apparently they were too lazy to rename the sound files. When I was 9 years old and had literally nothing else to do (because I couldn't afford to buy more games) I used to go through the installation files. There I stumbled across some sound clips that oddly wasn't used at all in the game. The little imp says "Suffer the same way G did" in the alternate clip. I used to think there was some way I could "unlock" these sounds so I used to play the damn game all day. Other than achieving over 90% accuracy it was a colossal waste of time. Now I realize all I had to do was to just replace the damn files lol
@@Pakilla64 Lol. The same thing happens with me all the time. Back when I was a kid there were things that seemed incredibly perplexing but now that I think about them they actually had a painfully obvious solution XD. I can relate very well to this man 😂
This was my first game console and game at 6 years old… the memory’s! Lived in an apartment with my dad and uncle and got this for Christmas of like 99’ or 2000
Oh boy every thing about this game is perfect. Especially the adrenaline pumping music! They should really have an HD re-release of this on the Playstation Store or Steam.
The second game had much more of a challenge to it because the axe-wielding zombies blocked your shots. I also remember the first boss. It scared me a lot when I was little.
When I was 5 or maybe 7 i played this with my older brother and his friend and i was mad for this game it was so epic but then few years after my dad sold the computer 😠😭 Those were the best years
***** Doesn't seem like they had any work after this game, at least it seems not. Strange considering one would expect this game to be their breakthrough role.
The second to last boss "The Magician" is one tough cookie, imo he (it?) has to go down as one of the HARDEST (and most frustrating) boss battles in arcade shooter history. On the plus side "The Magician" has a badass instrumental theme and went on to become a staple antagonist in "House of the Dead" game lore, appearing as the final boss in "The House of the Dead", "The House of the Dead 2" as the semi-final boss. He (It?) is seen during a flashback sequence in "The House of the Dead 3", and as the final boss of "The House of the Dead 4: Special" which takes place after James sacrifices himself to destroy "The World" and features Kate as the main protagonist. Plus "The Magician" is one of the few "The House of the Dead" series characters whose voice acting isn't poorly done. Granted, "The Magician" isn't given much dialogue, so that may be why. As for "The House of the Dead 2" final boss "The Emperor", I'm ashamed Sega made him (it?) such a pushover. Oh well...
Anthony Bonilla Between "The House of the Dead" and The House of the Dead 2" I invested roughly $300.00 in quarters and an entire week (including Saturday and Sunday) fighting "The Magician" at the arcade in my shopping mall (the arcade had both "The House of the Dead" and "The House of the Dead 2") before finally sealing his (it's?) fate on both machines. As for "The House of the Dead 4: Special", even though I own a PS3 honestly I don't feel the need to kick his (it's?) ass again even if I don't have to constantly insert coins to keep playing. That's how much I HATE fighting "The Magician". I do have every version of his (it's?) instrumental theme on my iPod :D
The zombies may have no shirts but they made sure to keep their cleanest designer jeans on

personal opinion about the game: The House Of The Dead 2 is actually my favorite chapter of this saga. maybe because I'm emotionally attached to it or maybe not.
Suffer, like G did?
G was that guy that said, "James I tried..."
Think he was making fun of the bat thing cause it sounded like he was asking a question rather than being intimidating
I'm Ron Burgundy?
you know what the funny thing is?
I can relate very well to this man 😂
I love how the game jumps on your ass when you dont save a civilian
16:39 shit if i saw a zombie charging me with the darksouls/bloodborne moonlight greatsword id shit bricks.

It was a great game at the time, but the voice acting.... OMG really the "best"
That voice acting.....
Memories...
The freaking sarcasm in James’ voice. xD this game is so nostalgic. :3 💕😂👌🏽
Oh boy every thing about this game is perfect. Especially the adrenaline pumping music! They should really have an HD re-release of this on the Playstation Store or Steam.
I'd definitely buy it love these games
The voice acting on the the other hand.
And you're wish has come true, first one is done second one soon to follow
@@user-fx8rk2jm3w that is what makes it iconic

"Hurry and run somewhere safe" *swims away* haha
The second game had much more of a challenge to it because the axe-wielding zombies blocked your shots. I also remember the first boss. It scared me a lot when I was little.
I have fond memories of this series. It got me into zombie pop culture. Trully a classic, I hope Sega remasters this series one day.
watching this 2024 cause it brings back memories ❤🎉
Same
3 zombies crawling towards a civilian, shoots the civilian first haha
"There's nothing we could do."
-James
i always laugh my ass off at the god-awful voice acting.
When I was 5 or maybe 7 i played this with my older brother and his friend and i was mad for this game it was so epic but then few years after my dad sold the computer 😠😭
Those were the best years
hearing the voices
already gave me nostalgia
I hope they didn't pay these voice actors.
Funny there's no way of finding out who these voice actors were
***** Doesn't seem like they had any work after this game, at least it seems not. Strange considering one would expect this game to be their breakthrough role.
Thehulkster1234 IMDb. uncredited, only one man has been "credited" on IMDb, as uncredited. look it up on IMDb.
Adam Demeter if they’re in the credits of those 2 games then what are their names??
James. Back me up.
Okay.
*dies*
Yea I'm hanging in there
Does anybody find the emperor more easier then the second to last boss which is the one that teleports
Oh well...
I totally agree with everything you said. Totally :)
Sorry for the very very VERRRY late reply :'(.. but your a true fan sir :)
@@Mechasonicrocks well you are wrong at one point the last boss of house of the dead 4 is the world .
The emperor’s voice sounds kinda funny especially when he says “I am…I am”. It sounds like he’s trying to find the right words to say
I miss the days when the magician fight was literally the most intense badass thing I’ve ever done
