Just a general comment from an old geezer... My first job as a teenager (in 1968) was repairing car radios -- to disconnect them, I'd unplug the speaker wire (one speaker, one wire -- the other terminal on the speaker was connected to chassis ground), the power+ (negative was chassis ground), and the antenna cable. Three connections. I wasn't counting, but you had more than 3, right? ;-)
I bought everything in your links and followed the instructions very closely, the canbus in your link is the raise model but idk if there’s a difference in the installation. after doing everything my backup camera does not show up and the steering wheel buttons don’t work even after setting model to raise>ford>no sync. Everything else works but idk what I did wrong
I think I had figured it out (at least for the camera). the link in the description had a different harness. the harness we bought has less wires that connect to the car harness, this is why the camera does not shows up. today the link in the description shows exactly the one he used, it came back in stock. so I ordered another one. it will fix the camera for sure and I think it also has something to do with the steering wheel controls not working. I hope it helps..
Hello, I purchased the 2nd harness and can’t find a diagram for the canbus rz-fd09. Can you tell me what yellow, brown and orange are coming out of canbus ?
This is an excellent video, Jack. Your thorough explanation makes a complicated installation seem very doable. We are picking up our 2023 148"wb, AWD Transit base model in two days. After seeing your video I'll be ordering the Joying system soon. Just a couple of quick questions; Do you have a link for the cylindrical HD backup camera you showed but did not use (and I assume it would wire to the brown wire on the modified harness), and, do you have a link for the external microphone you mentioned you added in the followup Raise module video? Thanks again for your great video and instructions.
Hey again. I'm working through the video and @8:48 which is at the antenna connector part -- after you cut everything out from the 16-pin harness, the orange/black stripe is loose and doesnt go into the blue joying ANT CONT wire, right? That Auto Ant wire is just free and doesn't connect to anything. please advise. Thank you!
Thank you for all the amazing tips you share. Gotta say that everything is done with great touch to perfection. I am doing this upgrade after got frustrated with another radio. I have a question (or a few); what happened to the blue Fakra connector @17:37? then @35:09 you said: "its no the blue cable!" then, proceed remove the adapter from this blue cable and put it to the black. The black you linked and connected with a Metro adapter to the behind the new radio. But, not the blue. I have watched it over and over and couldn't see what happened. Does it stays idle like the OEM connector that linked the old OEM display? Thanks again and congratulations for the excellent work!
The blue connector is not used with the new stereo. The purple connector with black wire is the AM/FM antenna. It is what gets plugged in to the antenna adapter and then plugged into the new radio. Just dont use the blue cable. I can't remember if it's the satellite antenna or display cable but it isn't used.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Awesome, brother!!!!!!!!! I just watched 4d Tech's video says the blue/pink is a GPS. Wont be used anyway ! I have notes for these infos and will make the installation soon. God Bless you and all yours Thank you
I ordered the second harness you showed with the Ford- RZ-09 harness. It is different than what you showed on the install and I am confused where to put the Brown, red and blue wire. I wish I could upload a picture but cannot. None of the wires say "back" for the brown wire. I don't have an orange with white strip for the brown wire. Any help would be great. Thank you
@chronisterenterprises3068 @ the 5:40 mark of video, he shows the pin locations and what the wires are that go in to those pins. If I were you, I would look at the new harness and match it up with what he has in the video (5:40 second mark) colors are just colors so I wouldn't let that fool you. Focus on the actual pin location and mark your wires to match them up. I hope this help!
You have to order the harness and canbus module. It's a selection on the page in the link. You probably just had it on the default "harness only" when you need to select harness and module
UPDATED.. I had figured it out why the camera was not showing up. The link in the description has a different harness, It has less wires than needed (that connect to the car harness), this is why the camera does not shows up. Today the link in the description shows exactly the one he used, it came back in stock, so I ordered another one. it will fix the camera issue and also for the SWC not working just swap the 2 wires (white and white/black)with the ones that go to the radio(pink and brown) it works perfectly. I hope it helps..
They sell a bigger screen that you can swap for the small one and use your oem head unit. Seems like it would be a lot easier. You did a great job, but it seems very complicated. I'm also wondering if there is a double din face plate instead of the pop out oem.
No you cannot use the bigger screen with this unit. What you are referring to is using a Ecosport 8" display but you have to have the factory sync 3 system to do this. They look similar as both have the 4" smaller display, but my van a long with most other cargo vans come with the base model stereo that does not have sync 3 built in and can not be flash upgraded to work with the 8" display.
@JackofAllMasterofNone I got a 2024 with what I believe to be a sync 3 per the settings /about. It doesn't work too good finding wifi or my phone. For a while it would lock me out of my phone. I'll look into it further. Thanks 😊
I was going to leave off the 12 inch screen from my custom order as it's $900, but considering the upgrade is $600 aftermarket, and what looks to be a pretty complicated process I think I will just order the 12 inch screen from Ford Direct
Personally I decided firmly against the Ford system after trying it. You can't even adjust the temp or fan speed until the radio boots up and it's not very user friendly. It's all software control on the screen. Not a big fan personally and I'm very glad I went this route. Way more flexibility
Hello There, I'm back again . I have installed the same unit; 3 months later I hate it! Have you had any issues with yours? Mine have had a couple of very disturbing problems. Resulting an ECU replacement to correct a dead dashboard! No lights. nothing not needles moving! Despite the van was in motion , on the highway for more than 200 miles. Finally with new ECU the tests showed cluster was ok. But boy oh boy it was terrifying. Now I'm sorting out stuff with Joying and Amazon. Please let me know if you had anything like values changed? such as temperature to Celsius, odometer to Kilometer, or other situation that required to re do the configs over setting on dashboard controls , then, it switch back multiple times again and again.
Sync 3 can be changed but it requires a different adapter harnesses. You will have to use a idatalink rf03 as well as a ADS-MRR2 module. It's more complicated and you will need to use an idatalink compatible stereo such as a Pioneer, a Kenwood or Sony etc to get the most features out of it.
Hi just wondering if you’re still happy with this screen after a few months of using it? I’ve heard mixed reports on the Amazon listing reviews. Thanks and great video !
Hi jack So I have a 2023 t250 Low roof. I noticed the ebay link for the screen is sold out, is the amazon one the next best option ? The backup camera you have is a medium or a high roof or is that the camera you linked? I am also thinking maybe Ill use the front camera as a sensor when parking to see how close I am. thank you for such an informative video !! I definetly need to do this !!
You have a few options. The exact same one is available on Amazon here amzn.to/3TY1f3E or the manual rotatable one is available on Prime here amzn.to/3TX7iW7 The backup camera that I linked is optional. You can just use the factory backup camera. I have a high roof van. I believe the low roof uses a camera on the back door vs the high mount camera like my van.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone thank you !! Cannot wait to do this !! I have been struggling with the 4 inch screen having to mount my phone somewhere for GPS this is awesome !
