    I've been doing research on the Czech side of my family (my grandfather) for a few months, but I've only just now discovered the beauty of the music

      You mean similar to Spanish music, right? Both music styles are said to origin from gitanos

    None of these are Czech language. All are in Slovak language.

    • @Badookum

      Czech can understand Slovak, Slovakian is like 50 words or so from not even being considered an actual language and rather an eastern Czech dialect, its that similar.

    • @vikingsailorboy
      @vikingsailorboy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Badookum Yes, I know. I am a Czech speaker 🤣🤣 That’s why I was telling the viewers all the songs are in Slovak so as not to assume the sings are in Czech. And yes, linguistically they are both probably dialects of a general “Czechoslovakian language” continuum. But standardized and codified politically in their own ways.

      No, none of these are from bohemia but some are from moravia. Moravian dialect is sometimes similar to slovakian language since it's in the borderland, but it's still czech. For example the song that starts at 9:54, thats a moravian folk song. I speak moravian dialect and was born in the borderland, but nowadays the old moravian dialects sound more slovakian than czech, so it can be confused.
