Hey guys, Andy here, So far, it seems like only the hardcore Glitchmas fans are tuning in, so these videos aren't getting much of a reach they'd usually get. If you enjoy these please share the Glitchmas spirit and show friends you think would like to see some odd things in the games we've looked at so far. Anyway, enjoy day 4 and please follow me on twitter @Astartshow if you haven't already. Andy

for the reflection of gex ending up on top of him im guessing it has to do with the ground collision not being the same on top and on the bottom, or mirror gex not having the same properties as normal gex so like if gex were to get a little too much downwrads momentum, the mirrorman could pop up on top right
Damn, thought you'd stopped making Glitch Videos in favour of all the other projects you're involved in! Glad you had time for Glitchmas again this year.
@@MikeyTaylorGaming It is pretty annoying to make well edited videos. Most videos I upload to my GoldenGemGames channel don't feature any editing. I know the struggle Mikey I do. Merry Christmas!
I never expected Gex on your channel. I've played both Gex 2 and 3(N64 version) for years throughout a lot of my childhood. I'll admit it has flaws but my nostalgia for these games will stay with me forever. I never knew about swimming out of bounds without the lick. but I knew all the other glitches and more. Gex is 1 of 2 obscure franchises from my childhood I want to make custom levels for, the other being Glover. I don't think it's possible right now but there will be a way someday, I hope! I don't know how clone Gex got there. I never saw that even when messing around with GameShark.
This was one of my favorite games, despite a lifetime of rage quitting it. The whole game is pretty broken. There's a spot on the platforms that leads up to Santa that you can just walk through the wall to get out of bounds. No tricks, no jumps, just walk wrong on that platform and you die in the abyss. Fun fact, I specifically got a PS2 when it was released in hopes of being ready for Gex 4. Still waiting.
A Gex video. This truly is a christmas miracle! Too bad it’s rather short but besides a couple of minor collision glitches here and there, Gex is rather bug-free. And well, only focusing on the christmas level is more fitting for Glitch-mas I suppose. I'm certain you already got your videos but it would be cool to see some Rayman related stuff. In any case, keep up the good work!
I played this on the n64 rather than the PlayStation, but the nostalgia is still flowing strong. Totally Scrooged was my favourite level music, despite my disdain for Christmas music in general😅
Great video. Love all your videos and you make me laugh a lot. Thanks, keep up the good work and most of all MERRY CHRISTMAS ... or i should be saying MERRY GLITCHMAS
When the reflection model gets pushed above the plane where real gex walks on he snaps 2 that plane allowing that glitch 2 work.... I dont know how 2 activate it tho
I grew up with that game on the N64 and I loved it so much. Never beat it but got to the last level and forgot about a game function that would've made it possible to beat it lol
I have an idea of why the reflection bug happened: The Ice Reflection is supposed to happen when Gex is above the the ice pond, and also change the vertical position based on Gex vertical position, to give an idea of reflection. When the glitch is triggered and Gex is under the Ice Pond that has the reflection, the Gex reflection still tries to mimic Gex's vertical position, in relation to the Ice Pond position, causing his reflection to be above him. As to how It's triggered, there must be some way of making the game think that Gex is still around the area of/above the Ice Pond, the guy in the video accidentally caused the trigger check to fail, and so the game still thinks that Gex is still above the Ice Pond. Maybe the water collision the game uses to check if Gex entered water, also works on the pond?
I'm more fascinated with the other hidden obscure stuff in this game. 1. Floating cubes with photos on them just somehow appeared in a few levels with no explanation. 2. The unaccessable western stage that was cut but is still on the game disc. 3. All of the many half finished stages that appear on the prototype but arent in the finished game. Gex 3 has a ton of stuff that still needs to be explored and discovered.
@@jerodmcallister1974 This is a completely different level set in a western town. Only way to access it is to use a gameshark to alter the debug menu to allow you to select it. Completely different than the Western Station stage.
So the gitch at the end looks like the ice reflect model is the one on top. Meaning that for this glitch to occur you would need to have the distance between your model and the mid point (the point where the model will flip) be a negative number, resulting in the flipped model to be ontop instead of below. The issue is as shown as one of the previous glitches on this, is that the point of the flip seems to move. When swimming under the map you could still see the reflected model below the normal model resulting in the game account for this.
My guess is that A. We are underneath and within rendering range of one of the reflective surfaces. B. a glitch canceled out the deactivation of the reflection model. (in which case the issue should be fixed the moment another reflective surface is activated.
I believe the ending glitch is most likely that the reflection model from under the ice, near the Santa Snowman thing, just failed to clamp in that area underneath and instead followed Gex out of the walls at its normal Z height, which would have been the correct height for if you were ontop of the ice at that level, instead of bringing him down to the new ice. Another theory is; instead of loading a new Gex under that area of ice, it loads the current Gex from the old ice, near the Santa Snowman thing, which would be at that height instead, depending on how reflections are handled. As for how that was achieved; I don't know, however it could have just clipped out like Gex does in walls with normal glitches, or just a math error from certain positions, or lag not allowing a new Gex to load under the new ice from maybe too many entities loaded making it low priority. Best I got of ideas. Can be easily debugged to see if any of these are correct though.
Maybe you just have to clip through the reflective ground plane onto one that is lower than the one you clipped through, putting the reflection model above your own, since the reflection model's height is inversely proportional to the regular one.
This is just a speculation, but I believe the reflection glitch you showcased is probably due to the existence of what I would refer to as a reflection event plane. This plane probably tells the game to display the inverted model of Gex and to duplicate the distance from the event plane and Gex himself for the inverted model. This plane could potentially be map-wide (or maybe room-wide) but only meant to activate at the area where there is ice. I think this because the inverted Gex is around the same height as the ice was, just judging from the video. So, perhaps this person bypassed the trigger for unloading of the inverted model, and because of that, the model reflected as it should have with the event plane's parameters. I surmise that the trigger to unload the model is above the event plane, and so somehow getting OOB under the ice would make it not unload like it should no matter how far away you are from the ice. That's my guess! How it's done, I can't speak for certainty as I've never played the game, but if anyone wants to figure that much out, let me know!
Misplaced toons are usually the result of game sprites loading in an unexpected order. Try going into that area from out-of-bounds. That may do the trick.
The only glitch I ever encountered in Gex 3 was in the mystery level, I went through the door to the hedge maze and whatever I did I ended up on top of the maze walls and could easily walk to the end to get the remote.
Were there any glitches exclusive to the N64 version? I had the ps1 version when I was a child and my friend had the n64 version and he always found the cool clips and tricks and I could never do them lmao
During the explanation of the glitch you couldn't figure out you said that the ice reflection was seen in the last glitch, but that was two glitches ago. Did you perhaps add the water glitch into the script after and forgot to change "last"?
