I would absolutely say that Amy was a jazz singer, one of the very best. She was heavily influenced and inspired by Miss Etta James and Miss Ella Fitzgerald. A stunning talent and yes she did write her lyrics.

Agreed. There's some other genre influences in there too as well. But as a fan of Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James, I absolutely align with your comment. Such a tragedy, can only imagine the beauty she could have continued to bestow on the music industry.

Amy got her start in jazz, a brilliant vocalist and a great feel for blues. I hope you react to more from her. In this 'funeral' procession, she was burying her heart, forever lost to the man who broke it. The song was released in 2006, Amy passed in 2011.

    @susanbothwell2234 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    She wrote her own lyrics.
Going back to black is both going back to depression but also using & drinking. She's speaking of her relationship with Blake Fielder Civil & their tortuous relationship that was true, deep love ...soul mates, but it wasn't a healthy relationship. He would go back to his ex, who knew about Amy, then return. I'd guess it was a constant cycle of highs and lows.
It's just soooo heartbreaking to imagine the deep emotional pain she endured & for so many years. They couldn't be with each other but also couldn't be without each other. Many surmise that her untimely death could have easily been from her broken heart. She quit drugs in her later years but still struggled with drinking. The day she passed away, she was alone and in her room it's reported, there were 3 empty vodka bottles. Her tiny body had just given out and couldn't take any more.
I didn't listen to her or know much about her until just a few years ago. Now...I'm obsessed with her life & music and cannot stop listening to her incredible voice.

The thing with British artists is that they don’t pay much attention to trying to fit their music into defined genres. Often it’s a blend and a mash of several sounds.
That’s why they don’t always make it through to the US market - the music industry demands to know what genre it fits in and if it didn’t, it gets ignored.

The song was about her relapse after a bad break up . Black is a term for herion which she has struggled with until her death. And it even mentions her other struggles with Crack cocaine when she said "life is like a pipe and I'm a tiny penny rolling up the the walls inside" the song is very sad because this breakup ultimately led to her death she is truly missed. Noone else will ever compare.

In 2012, Winehouse was among the British cultural icons selected by artist Sir Peter Blake to appear in a new version of his most famous artwork - the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover - to celebrate the British cultural figures of his life that he most admires.
On 14 September 2014 (which would have been Winehouse's 31st birthday), a statue was unveiled of her, which was created by sculptor Scott Eaton, at Stables Market in Camden Town, north London. Wikipedia.

her and her powerfull voice were amazing, but what really gives me goosebumps it’s the emotion with what she performs, really pierces through your soul… and yes, she wrote her own lyrics

Guys, you're staring at a gigantic rabbit-hole with the late, great Amy. So many wonderful songs Amy left us. I strongly recommend 'Rehab'. I'll say no more than that for now, but you'll thank me for it! 😏 🙋‍♂

I'd like to see them react to LP Lost on You live session. Not a blues artist per se but def a blues flavor to that song.

Sometimes a precious jewel emerges, shines brightly, then disappears. We're all richer for her life and poorer for her death.

the small box is where some people that get cremated and then buried, there not alot of ashes left to bury. But in the video, I think it's Amy heart in the box that they bury

Amy loved jazz and the old time singers from big band era, like Ella, Billie Holiday, etc. Tony Bennet considered her a great and did a collab with her. She was unique and passed too soon. How about doing some reading and researching on different eras of music. You would enjoy it I think and it would enhance your videos IMO. TY. RIP Amy

Glad to see a change of pace. I'm tired of slipknot. Let's get to the real music, where most of our American music comes from.....the Blues.🎼🎸🎶✌️

She was alive when this came out and it was about this guy breaking and basically killing her heart. But if you listen real close she says "you like blow and I like po." And then when she goes back to black... She's talking about heroine. Blow is cocaine and Po and black are both terms for heroine. And unfortunately she died from an overdose. Rip Amy, you were great!!!!
