Thanks for this video, you have saved alot of hair pulling, I connected a new 2 channel power amplifier to my Marantz SR 6015( for the front speakers ),got the fronts working but couldn't get the other channels working until I did what you stated what to do, happy days, all working perfectly
Bit of a tip, after running Audyssey or doing a manual set up ,go to the set up menu and go to Inputs, select Source Level and turn the Source level Up (it can go up to 12) and select the level you require for a superb sound at a lower master volume.because before I did this I had to turn the Master Volume up to 54 to get a good sound.
If you select 'Pre-Amplifier' for the Assign mode and have all speakers powered by external amps, what difference does this make to the sound compared to powering speakers from the AVR?
A nice feature is "front pre". Presumably, this disconnects the amp from the preamp for those speakers (and assigns the amps to other channels.) Question - can that feature be used in other modes or only when in 11 channel processing mode? I already have an external amp and would like to use that for front and even other channels is possible. I want front preamp out but also to have the internal amp disconnected from the preamp signal.
Hopefully you can help i cant figure this out, I have the Denon AVR-X3700H, I am running 11chs, I recently purchased the 5ch Rotel 1585 External Amplifier, I assigned my Center speaker, My front Right and Left towers, And my front Surrounds to my Rotel External amplifier, But i notice when I go into Speaker Amp assign, I only see Preout highlighted under my front tower speakers, Not my Center and Surrounds, Not sure what am doing wrong.
This might be a dumb question, but I'll still ask anyway. Which receiver should I go with? Better yet, should I upgrade from the Pioneer Elite SC-LX502, to the Denon AVR-X3700H??
So I upgraded this receiver over and onkyo txnr646 and currently am running a 5.2.2 setup with using Klipsch atmos r14sa modules as heights up on the top of my wall. I decided instead of adding 2 more klipsch for rears that I would try the SVS prime elevations.. my question is would I be better off putting the SVS up front and moving the Klipsch modules to the rear? Or because they are all.just height speakers it wont matter?
I've had this for almost a week and have just started discovering the goodies. The nice thing early on, is the fact that it drives my two front elac debut 6.2 very nicely. I don't have a large room, but I was worried about having to get a separate amp for music. This does the trick in that aspect, looking forward to the avr side of it as I venture on.
Thanks for this video, but I need some help.I have a DENON AVR X 6500H and I want to use my Emotiva UPA 700 7 channel amp to amp some of the channels of my Denon. I know how to connect it, but I don.t know how to assign front channels to the Emotiva. IN this moment I am using a 9.1 bi-amp connection, Denon has the fronts, and the Emotiva all the other channels( From pre out ). I would be grateful with you if you can give your opinion. I just found in the manual that use the external amp will improve sound, there is a diagram, but nothing about how to switch off unnecessary Denon amplifiers. So when I saw this video I get confused.
I'm torn between 3600H and 4500H... Will 3600H manage B&W 603s and HTM6 center? Or do I need another amp for pre outs?? Something like Musical fidelity MS2i?
Does the AVR-X3600H allow you to power both the front height and rear height speakers externally at the same time? In the video you toggle between Front Height and Rear Height in the Pre-out setting, but I didn't see a setting for both simultaneously.
Hello!! I recently bought my first AV Reciever, a 5.1.2 165 watt per channel and Im about to buy the speaker set ... As the system may function in "Allchannel stereo" ... Am I able to take advantage of this and buy the same towers for front L / R and surround L / R ?? would this decision affect negatively the way the system should develop in 5.1.2 configuration? I mean, the surround speakers I usually see are bookshelves or satellites and it is said they should be placed above ear level ... thank you for your opinions & help!
Rear panel connections? I have a 5.1 set-up now, but I want to add a pair of front Atmos speakers and a pair of back Atmos speakers. Which speaker connections on the back of the X3600 do I use? -- "height 1" for front and "height 2" for rear? Something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
As per your video I have set my Denon 3600h for 11.1 setup . 5.1 setup with 2 surround back and 4 height channel, and subwoofer BIC America PL-200, with this configuration my surround back have no sound coming and even everytime I have to set sound from stereo to dolby mode , also atmos is not working. Even after adding extra amplifier preout sound is not coming? What changes should I do for good sound setup.
Your video and channel is getting better every day man! Keep crushing it bro, love your channel and your vibes Channa. You got me into Home Theater and I just finally hit 5.1 surround yesterday...and it's GLORIOUS. Even the Mrs is on board now haha.
Denon 3600 and A outlaw 5000 amp. I have 11.1 setup. With 4 Klipsch 500sa . As for setting things up which speakers do I run from the AVR and which from the Amp? All Klipsch 8000f, 502s. 600m, 504c, sub SPL 120 and 4 500sa. Three front stage hooks up with the amp what other two speakers?
I've owned my Denon avr x2100 for over six years without any flaws. Sounds sweet through 7.2 with movies and does a good job throwing out music too. The next one for me is either the one here on display or a Marantz.
Due to spousal accommodation limits in addition to the L/R/C speakers I can only use ceiling speakers with my Denon. I have two rear about five feet behind the seating position, two side surrounds (spread pretty wide to lower the angle that the sound hits the seating position) and two about four feet in front of the seating. The first thought was to go with a 7.1.2 setup using only the two forward positioned ceiling speakers for elevation. On the other hand, I could use those two plus the two rear ceiling speakers in a 5.1.4 setup. I know the system is a bit compromised by the ceiling only limit but which configuration, 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 would give me the best experience?
I just got the 3600 AVR and a Monolith 5. My setup is a 5.2.2. In-ceiling 2 channel ATMOS. I'm not sure of the difference between Height Sp and Dolby Sp? Also, should I run all 5 channels through the Monolith, with the disconnect AVR amp function for the L & R main?
Reading the manual, I see that the Dolby Sp are the "bouncy room" speaker and the Height Sp are the in-ceiling speaker. I'm not sure why manufacturers don't allow you to disconnect the AVR amp in all 5 channels?
@Thechno Dad, I'm thinking about buying this receiver on black Friday with the Klipsch Black Reference Theater Pack 5.1 Surround Sound System. I'm new to this AVR home theater stuff. What is the difference between surround and surround back? If I use the 5.1 speakers, should I use the surround or surround back for the two rear speakers?
Hey Techno Dad. Do you use this yourself in your setup? I don't know if I go with this or the 4500. I only care about build and preamp functional and connections. Dolby vision and arc yes but not important the Atmos, 3D aura etc. The 4500 looks stunning, but I don't know if I need it. Got 5.1 and stereo power-amp.
I'm doing a 7.1.4 layout with a 3700H but ... what I would like to do is assign the front right and left AND the center to a monolith amp 3 channel can it be done even if there's not a specific layout for that in the AVR menu?...I knw you can prety much pre out all channels to a separate amp but the menu doesn't show it
I have a 4 year old denon avrx3200w receiver and I recently purchased a Samsung 65” q90r tv. Now I have tv audio issues in that going between my cable DVR and regular tv I lose audio. I have to turn on and off my denon to restore surround sound. Same thing happens when switching from fire stick. I tried an optical cable and I don’t get any audio from that at all. I’m thinking of getting a new receiver but don’t know what to buy. Can you please HELP me?
super useful for the SU's avr's pre out setup, thanks! like the Marantz SR8012 to use 2 front with external power amp, just use 11.1 ch assign and use below setup with sr and pre out section to select
Excellent Video. I have just purchased this and will be using front dolby atoms and the your video will really help. Can I confirm do you connect the front dolby atmos speakers to the yellow/light yellow height connections at the back and then configure?
Just took delivery of this AV today so I too am super stoked to set it up. I intend to run a 5.1.4 so this vid is a very useful reference. Thank you! One question. Could I run the front floorstanders (Kef R500's) through an external amp (Cyrus One), via the pre-outs, and have the 3600 take care of the rest?
Nice looking receiver, nice price tag. Very nice front panel aesthetics. Awesome rear panel layout, with plenty of inputs. Love that pre-out section. Nice power rating also, plenty for a lot of people. Thanks for another great video man!
Your videos are very informative. I recently purchased the 3600 and would love to see a video as you did for the Onkyo on setting up 5.1.4 with Zone 2. Thanks for all the videos!
Hi Technodad. I have denon 4500H reciever with svs ultra towers and svs ultra centers along with SVS sub and SVS surround speakers for 5.1 setup. I want to connect center, left and right to emotiva BasX A3. Should I set my speakers to large or small? what is recommended amp assign setting should I use on denon?
Techno Dad: Thanks for your new videos on the 3600 and offer of coaching. I hired a company to do the install of the hardware, wires and Audyssey set up. I had a delay with the installation date before Christmas due to issues with bad weather so it all goes in this Tuesday, 1/7/20. I’m replacing everything except the TV. It had developed into a bigger project. I’m changing the location of the TV along with a new X3600H, all new speakers, speaker wire and cables. I may take you up on your offer of giving some advice on fine tuning the setup.
Dude thank you so much for this video, I was going nuts figuring out why my surround backs just werent producing sound! I love this AVR and I especially love you and your amazing channel. Keep up the great work bro. Happy New years Eve!@
Thank you so much Gianni! Yeah, I was confused as well when my speakers weren't outputting any sound. Then I found the settings. So silly!! I had a great NYE. I was DJing at a local bar/lounge. Hope you had a good NYE and wishing you all the best for 2020!
Hi There, I am Zoli from Barcelona. May I have a question? My final goal is to set up a 5.2.4 system and Zone 2. I thought about getting this Denon AVR-X3600H together with a 2 channel amplifier for the front speakers. I have seen this video of yours and I understand how to set up 11.2 assign mode and pre. amp. for the front speakers. BUT(!) is it possible to set both up pre.amp. for the front tower speakers and set up any 2 channels for zone 2? I would set the Surround Back outputs to Zone 2, as I have no surround back speakers. Well, if you could confirm this set up is possible that would be nice! Can you suggest me a 2 channel amplifier? Thank you very much in advance!
Hey, thanks for the video. I recently just bought the 3600 fir all the reasons you mentioned. One question... for a 7.2.4 in ceiling setup, how do I power the fronts with my old receiver? I was told I could do this by the salesperson and didnt need an extra amp. Thanks again for the vid!!
Just got this reciever and it's so robust. Busy building a 5.1.4 setup paired with some monitor Audios and a Fyne Audio subwoofer the performance is out of this world.
Great vid, I have a Marantz SR6013 and menu is basically the same. Question I have is if I get a nice 3 channel amp for the front stage do I need to tell the receiver to pre-out the centre channel as well as the fronts or will the receiver detect this when its hooked up??? Thanks, Ken.
Is there any way you could use the Denon AVR-X3600H with an Outlaw 5000 to power the LCR while bi amping the front Left and Right speakers such as Klipsch? If so could you explain how that would work or maybe make a video showing how to set that up in the GUI using either a 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 setup? It would be much appreciated!
Ive been considering what amp to get for my 7.2.4 in ceiling. This review showed how to set up the amp for this configuration.....im sold gonna buy it over here in the UK. Cheers techno dad!
Hi There, Please, if you will, Atmos set-up for the Pioneer VSX-LX302. It only goes as far as 7.1.2. , I have a 5.1.2 with Atmos Jamo ATM 50 Atmos Speakers on the top of the Wharfedale Atlantic 500 Mains, do I choose 7.1 with Speaker set-up like your video depicts? One more question, the Atmos speakers are 1.4meter away from the ceiling due to the height of the Mains, to enhance more effective sound, would it make any difference if I changed the height distance to 2.5meter away from the ceiling?, or do I EQ the Atmos speakers and raise the left EQ to +4Db and the left side to +4Db in a "V" formation. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Bought this amp back in August for $993 Canadian and I thought that was a steal. Now Eastporters is selling it for $789.99!!! (ask for Agape for amazing service!) That's $605 USD!!! VERY rare for us Canadians to get a deal better then the states. Would have never guessed it'd hit such a price here.
The Denon 3600 was probably the worst AVR I've ever audition and BTW don't think by adding a Poweramp is going to improve its audio. All that's gonna do is give you more of what you've already got.
I have 2 upfiring and 2 ceiling speakers run off of the top front Atmos. I technically have 6 atmos speakers. The sound delay from the upfiring pulls the soundstage forward even more with a bit of work.
I was confused by this as well. I think the confusion is this AVR will only process 4 Atmos channels. To process 6 height channels, you would need the Denon X8500H avr (amzn.to/39wzTts) or the Marantz AV8805 Pre/Pro (amzn.to/39EHczx).
Hey Chana D. I'm working on getting my 5.1 set up completed. No sub. Apartment life. I'm stuck whether I should get the mono poles or bipoles for my rear surrounds? My system is all Klipsch RP series. Currently my livingroom is open to my kitchen. Room size is about 11 1/2' wide × roughly 25 to 30' length. I'm also trying to future proof my speaker selection as well. In case I end up getting into a house that I can use a decent size room for a dedicated HT. Your input would be appreciated. Have a great New Years.
@@TechnoDad Thanks for your input. I'm currently using monopole bookshelf speakers set at about 45° behind my listening area. They seem to work pretty good. Should the bipoles be set in the same way?
Techno Dad, i have some issues now. I am using Panasonic ub820, i was trying to play furry 4k blueray with dolby atmos. But its shows input is pcm and only 2 chanles. I do get dolby atmos when u use shield as my source. But not this 4k player. I did kept auaio settjng digital audio dplby adio into bitstream and dts to bit stream and BD video secondary audio to off. Still i have this issue. Can u help?
Do you have the ability to tell the receiver which of the pre outs you want to use? It only shows Fronts and Height in your video. If I wanted to offload the front 3 channels or the ground 5 channels, can I do that with this receiver?
Hey Great Video Techno Dad.Been watching for awhile, you really know your stuff.I been out the game for awhile and I'm looking to upgrade my old Onk TX-SR706. I still have the old monitor series Polks. Monitor CS2,Monitor 60,Monitor 40 and an SVS PB10-NSD. Would the Denon x3500 or x3600 be a good fit. Looking to upgrade to a 7.1 setup down the line.Do you suggest an amp? Thanks man keep up the great work.
Could you do you please help me with the setup guidelines for Harman kardon HKTS 65 AND I have purchased 3600h but I feel sound the little low after the initial setup
Can Denon AVR-X3600H be coupled with B&W MT-50 (M1 Satellite's max power handling is rated at 100W, whereas X3600H's power output is 105W per Channel)?
Hi T/Dad, I wonder you can help me out! Recently I bought 85" samsung 4K Q95T, Denon AVR-X6700H, 2* Clipsh RP 502, RP 8060FA front and simply all Reference premier speakers for the set up. finaly manage to get the Engineer came to calibrate my tv and did sound setting on my system. forgot to mension I also got skyQ Ultra HD service as well. But the Engineer told me I need to buy an apple tv (4k indeed) to enable to get me the Atmos sound!!!!! my 4k Sky box or from my TV's Earc I wont be able to play any thing with dolby Atmos? I am gob smacked. When I watched Months of you tube channels about Denon's AVR and these Clipsch speakers, I am HIGHLY disappointed with the sound when I listen video albums. after engineer setup when I want to play music found the rear speakers also working. he said that is the way Denon does!!!! I feel so bad and thing I have wasted the money on my Audio system, and the Engineer tune up. Also I have been advised my setup is Ideal for movies not really good for listening music!!!!! I can't believe all this. T/Dad any Advice will be really helpful.
Hi really nice videos. One question: i am planning a Main Zone 5.1.2 Setup and 2 Speakers (Zone 2) and 2 Speakers (Zone 3) if zone 2 and 3 are active simultaniously it should reduce the Mainzone to 5.1 - is it possible to setup 3 Zones with denon? do you know another reciever wich can handle three zones?
Hey TD, what's the chances of going through the settings? I have a avr x4300h and I'm just curious what are the best settings for the best sound.(example, sound parameter, audyssey, etc) Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year!!
Really nice overview. Going 7.4.1 with my Marantz 7011 and just added Emotiva BasX A3 to drive the front stage, the Marantz driving 4 surrounds and 4 heights. Gee I’ve actually got and extra channel I can drive by the Marantz! Hope I get the setup right…
Say you had 7 speakers not including subwoofers... Could you power 3 of them with the receiver and then put 4 of them on pre out and power them with a separate amplifier?
Yes, you can do that. Any combination would work. Power 5 channels with external amp and 4 channels on AVR. 9 channels on avr with 2 channels externally.
Following your setup with the 9.1 Amp Assign, as I want 5.1.2, what happens to Zone 2? Can I still get separate Zone 2? As my Zone2 is in another room.
Hello, how are you ? Friend I have a Denon X3600H receiver, can you tell me if the Pioneer SP-FS52, SP-BS22 and SP-C22 setup would work well with it? My doubt is that each box has a different amount of W, being the tower 130w, central 90W and the receiver at 6ohms makes 130w, wouldn't the central and surround suffer from that?
Do you use the iOS or Android control app with this AVR? What do you think of it? I went with the Yamaha line because of better software even though I've been using Marantz for the last 20 years.
@@TechnoDad thanks for the reply. I was testing the Marantz/Denon Android app and the Yamaha one in demo mode for a bit and noticed a significant difference in design and responsiveness. A local Marantz and Yamaha Dealer also verified my findings. I ultimately went with the top of the line Yamaha AVR and so far the user experience has been very good. You might want to take another look at the Yamaha line, even though I know you're a Denon fan.
Last year I had the YAMAHA A2080 and it wasn’t bad but I prefer Audyssey over YPAO, and Anthem Room Correction over those. For me it’s mostly about how the overall sound is in my room. So for me, the apps aren’t a huge factor. They do make streaming music super easy though.
If you reassign the front L & R mains in order to disconnect the AVR amp, how does Audessey then work? Does the AVR software know where these speakers are when you rename them?
@@TechnoDad thank you for some reason denon support couldn't clearly answer that question lol they sent me links of how to connect one and another link of what auto eq is lol
hey there, I can't set the receiver to get the audio from tv with hdmi. I use my pc on tv and it works fine but, if i open the apps (netflix/prime) on tv i don't have audio, just images. can you help me to set this config, please? Thanks a lot!
It won't work that way Duryel. You need a device such as Apple 4K TV, 4k Amazon fire stick, Roku device, Nvidia Shield etc.. to pass through your AVR receiver. Built-in apps from the TV will only come out from your TV speakers. If you're low on cash, 4k Amazon fire stick is your best bet. Want something more premium, go with Apple TV 4k or The Shield. Hope this helps buddy.
My wife just bought this avr-x3600 and got a good deal at BB. I currently have the OLED65C9 pua and its hdmi 2.1 and I was going to wait for the 2.1 recievers to come out. I have had the Sr8012 and it was ok and the avrx 4400 and it was ok. So I guess my question is do I keep this for 3-5 yrs or just wait it out and hope the 2.1 hdmi content hits the market sooner than expected. BTW the 3600 is still in the box and I will hook it up just to see how good it really is. But with the 5 channels @ 90 plus watts from what im hearing this could be a game changer. Decisions decisions. Any info of good or bad experiences is greatly appreciated. let me know what others think just to get some ideas...Thanks and great video TD as always.
Hi Billy! The power output is not rated with 5 channels driven, but only 2 channels driven at full bandwidth. I like the X3600H as it processes 11 channels but powers 9. With the addition of a 2 or 5 channel amplifier you can run a 7.2.4 Atmos setup. So it really does depend on what you want to do.
I don’t understand what’s wrong with my Denon cause I can’t to seem to get any sound at all coming out of my height channels I can only upmix dolby surround or atmos but when I do get a DTSX single there’s no information coming out of the height channels can someone help me with this issue
I'm not even sure the height virtualization is a big deal. I think it's more if you want Auro-3D and two trigger outs. If you don't need those things, then the X3600H would work out well.
Ok, so I still don't know the answer to how to setup my power amplifier. I have x6500h, I am adding Monolith 3x200 for my l,c,r front channels. Do I need to do amp assign there? Or I just connect it to the speakers to the amp and the amp to preout for l,c,r? I am currently running 7.1.4 all powered by x6500h.
All in all, I think my setup was fine without the additional amp. I think my RF7s are so efficient that the x6500h on board amp was adequate. However, I may eventually get to the point I can do all separates, and I can always use a good power amp.
what kind of alternate speaker connection options do these current denons have- aside from x.1.x - for bi amping? Can you combo bi amps for fronts (or more!) and still work in a 5/7.1 (and not have heights) ?
Question for someone who has tried this. I have the x4700h and i just got an outlaw 7000x. I can’t get the 5000 till next year so in the mean time does the Denon sound better in pre amp mode and i can use an old stereo to power my in ceiling speakers or will it sound just as good to just set the Denon to 11.1 and run the in ceiling speaker from the Denon ?
Hi! Not sure if it sounds “better” in pre-amp mode. That’s too subjective to comment on. You can use and old amp but I don’t recommend that. So be careful when doing so.
Great video 👍 I've got to get rid of my Yamaha av cause there's no pre outs for my 2 fronts and my center. I'm thinking of pairing this with a power amp. Does this sound like the right thing to do?🤙
Hi Buster! Yes, that’s a great idea. Here’s a video if me connecting the X3600H to a few different power amps - th-cam.com/video/x_a-9Uq4Tzc/w-d-xo.html
can I connect all 11 channels to amp? Is it possible to make it 7.2.4 with my Denon AVR-X4300H? what changes I have to make in amp assign settings? Please let me know
Hi! Yes, you can connect all 11 pre-outs to external amps. I don't think you need to do anything except make sure that you have all 11 speakers "activated" in Speaker Config menu.
I've had this unit when it first came out several months ago. I've received the height virtualization update to my unit. It really only works on non atmos and dtsx materials, and it sounds great. I believe this is just a fancy name for the previous upmixing on previous models. It really does make non atmos material sound close to atmos materials. I have discreet speakers above(4), and this unit delivers. I'm pretty sure the up firing speakers will be the best they can be; however, if at all possible, the height speaker setup is better, and unmatched when it comes to the height effects!!
@@currymarcel thank you for the reply. I'll have go with the up firing speakers there's no way to make overhead speakers look good in my place. Plus my wife will kill me if I tried.
Hi Roberto! Looks like Marcel handled your question already. Upfiring speakers will work for Atmos if your ceiling is flat and you have a rectangular space.
I bought this unit several months ago when it first came out. I have no regrets. This unit is awesome and really delivers.
Nice!
Hey Marcel, could you tell what you think of the app to control the unit. what do you like or would like to change on it? thanks!
@@Anakena3 I haven't used the app as of yet. I just use the units factory remote; so far, I am satisfied with its functionality.
I got this receiver at Best Buy (price match amazon) about a month ago for $799. I’m very happy with it.
Nice Jack! Thank you for sharing your experience with ELAC.
Most of the time I wish for more reviews from Channa D. This time Channa D delivered.
😂 awesome!
In the video you toggle between Front Height and Rear Height in the Pre-out setting, but I didn't see a setting for both simultaneously.
in my opinion, the Denon receiver sounds the best in the middle segment, the main mid bass sounds great, the yamaha onkyo sounds very bright
Is the HDR10+ a big feature that they missed off or is it not that big of a deal?
Thank you so much for your kind words!! Glad to hear you're enjoying your 5.1 and that the wife likes it too!! Makes upgrading much easier ;)
@@TechnoDad Haha yes man. Take it easy Channa!
I’ve been searching a long time for the review of this model. Thank you so much.
No problem! Thanks for watching!

Can I play tv sound on the living room speakers and music on the porch speakers simultaneously with this unit?
Thanks! It's a great AVR for a great price!
Thank you so much I’ve had this set up for Atmos and couldn’t figure it out your the best thanks.
Your videos are very informative. I recently purchased the 3600 and would love to see a video as you did for the Onkyo on setting up 5.1.4 with Zone 2. Thanks for all the videos!
Sure thing!!
Hey Techno Dad i’m just wondering. Should we set left and right speaker to large?
I have mine set to large and subwoofer set to LFE+Main. That sends all bass frequencies to both mains and subwoofer.
Hi - I have a X3600H and trying to add a three channel amplifier. However under pre-outs I only see "Front" as the option. Am I missing something?
Did you ever get an answer to this? Same question for me!
The day after Christmas I was on Amazon and found this receiver brand new $799. (brand new) It was just delivered last night!😁😁😁 great deal!
Awesome deal!!!
Glad you got the deal Jeff. 👍🏾
Very timely review because I got the X3600H for Christmas, lucky me! It will be set up next week. Thanks
Nice Duaine! Let me know how it goes and if you need any help with setup!
Im still getting nothing to my SB's with all the settings done right Im missing something...this ahould be the same on my 4500
Hi There,
I am Zoli from Barcelona.
Can you do two front height with four in-ceiling speaker (5.1.6) with this receiver?
Awesome detail presentation!! I'm still hesitating with the Yamaha A1080 (for musicast, better app, wireless surround).... but open to advice ;-)
Following this question.
Just got this reciever and it's so robust. Busy building a 5.1.4 setup paired with some monitor Audios and a Fyne Audio subwoofer the performance is out of this world.
Nice! Thanks for sharing your experience FastFord.
A tad confusing voice over but still the tip about turning on the speakers is appreciated.
Hi There,
Please, if you will, Atmos set-up for the Pioneer VSX-LX302.
Can you power all channels externally? Or just the ones it offers in the menu?
All 11 channels can be powered externally. I run 9 channels externally powered.
Wow! That's a smokin' deal!
Hey @techno dad thx for vid as usual! Could you have done FR, FL and Center as Pre or just FL and FR? ?
Where in the menu do you go to setup External Amplifier on the Denon (for example front L-R)? Thanks! Great videos!
The Denon 3600 was probably the worst AVR I've ever audition and BTW don't think by adding a Poweramp is going to improve its audio. All that's gonna do is give you more of what you've already got.
Oh snap. A-Probe lens in usage! That's Audio probe BTW. Love it 😁
Yuuuup!! Living that probe life!!
Picked up this receiver and it's great. I have a 7.4.6 system with a Parasound preamp. Sounds great.
Don't you mean 7.4.4? I don't think this even has pre-amps for 6 atmos channels.
I prefer bipoles for side surrounds. It's based on you and what you like.
Thank you..
Just setup
Began clipping at high volume passages...
Wait, does it not allow you to Fronts + Center through an power amp? The vid made it look like only the fronts or rear heights for some reason
That's just to tell the AVR what to power internally. The Pre-outs are "always on."
Techno Dad Ah, I see. Thanks
In your opinion is the Marantz sr6014 worth the extra money over this?
Hi Brandon! The Marantz has a few other options this does not. You really have to weight those things out.
Hi! That's kind of hard to do as the audio settings would depend on your room. Also, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by Audyssey settings.
Really nice overview. Going 7.4.1 with my Marantz 7011 and just added Emotiva BasX A3 to drive the front stage, the Marantz driving 4 surrounds and 4 heights. Gee I’ve actually got and extra channel I can drive by the Marantz! Hope I get the setup right…
So it's impossible to power 11 speakers, even if they have very high sensitivity? I have to get a 2ch external amp?
Say you had 7 speakers not including subwoofers... Could you power 3 of them with the receiver and then put 4 of them on pre out and power them with a separate amplifier?
Yes, you can do that. Any combination would work. Power 5 channels with external amp and 4 channels on AVR. 9 channels on avr with 2 channels externally.
Mine arrives on Thursday and i am so pumped for it to get here!!🙏🏻
Woot woot! I'm happy for you!
I don't think you will have issues with this setup, but if you're looking for more power down the road, you can add an amplifier to the X3600H
Pls say about x1400h AV receiver set up for 7.2 channel
Hey techno dad I have the jbl soundbar 9.1 or 5.1.4 and I have my t.v. cec off but every time I turn on the t.v the soundbar turn on too. WHY.
Do you use the iOS or Android control app with this AVR? What do you think of it? I went with the Yamaha line because of better software even though I've been using Marantz for the last 20 years.
The apps I’ve put in my iPad are pretty much the same from brand to brand.
They do make streaming music super easy though.
thank you Techno dad.. I have been anxiously and desperately waiting for this review...
You are very welcome! I will be making more setup videos about this AVR. Let me know if there is something you want to know about or need help with.
Brother please add type of amplication in your reviews,
Love from India🇮🇳
If you reassign the front L & R mains in order to disconnect the AVR amp, how does Audessey then work? Does the AVR software know where these speakers are when you rename them?
You should probably rerun Audyssey
When you amp the denon, will the amp power be controlled via denon remote, will auto eq be applied even to the amp channel
Hi Bluekid! The answer to that is yes, the Denon will be the front end. All volume and calibration info will be sent out the pre-outs.
@@TechnoDad thank you for some reason denon support couldn't clearly answer that question lol they sent me links of how to connect one and another link of what auto eq is lol
I am wondering with this 3600h vs NR-797..
hey there, I can't set the receiver to get the audio from tv with hdmi.
@@Pokkerguy thanks for your answer. I fix it following this tutorial: denon.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3956
Thanx a lot once again!
Great help in both set up and reviews of products-- I was able to get great info on the denon products
Nice Rich!
I don’t understand what’s wrong with my Denon cause I can’t to seem to get any sound at all coming out of my height channels I can only upmix dolby surround or atmos but when I do get a DTSX single there’s no information coming out of the height channels can someone help me with this issue
I wrestled between the X3600H and the X4500H. I ended up going with the X4500H. The only pros with the 3600h is height virtualization and hdcp 2.3.
I'm not even sure the height virtualization is a big deal. I think it's more if you want Auro-3D and two trigger outs. If you don't need those things, then the X3600H would work out well.
Hi will does work also for 3D movies? Thank you.
Great video as always Techno Dad!!!
Happy New Year Tech Dad!!!
Thank you David! Happy New Year to you too!!
Hi! No, you don't need to change anything in amp assign. Just connect up the RCAs for the LCR and then connect the speakers to the Monolith.
Thanks!
Hi! I believe you can bi amp your fronts with the unused height channels. I can check that and address it in another video.
@@TechnoDad thanks. I think what I’ll just do in the mean time is run my in ceiling speaker on the AVR and set the front to run pre amp.
Techno Dad Thanks Chana D👍
Does Denon have receivers that are 4k120? Rather than 60p? I'm hoping to buy a TV with a higher refresh rate 2020 or 2021.
No, that would need HDMI 2.1 ports. Currently, they use HDMI 2.0B.
will connecting an External amp improve dialogue clarity?
It could, but you could try boasting your center channel level.
Can you do a height virtualization video using this receiver? I want to know if it's worth investing in the extra up firing speakers.
