Per the Arsenal vs. Villa match. I won't lie, I was a little disappointed with what felt like a slightly dismissive air with comments like 'small squad, over performing, season catching up with them blar blar blar...' No acknowledgement how we have managed the whole season to stay in and around 4th DESPITE managing injuries and while being in Europe for the first time juggling two matches a week, travel etc and btw...the only English team to win in Europe this week.
NO EXCUSES just for the record as everyone has had injuries, but we have managed our injuries literally since the first game when we were down by 5 first team players, two long-term (now its three) with still others out now.
That all aside its really results that matter and as Emery always says "no excuses, every challenge is an opportunity, embrace it and enjoy playing football" And I wld add to that, despite beating Arsenal at Villa Park they are most definitely a more assured, confident, clinical team now playing great football with a really solid defence whereas Villa are admittedly stuttering. Oddly, Villa are surprisingly not too far off Arsenal's stats and have kept 4th for most of the season for a reason so...who knows🤞
Arsenal will rightly be overwhelming favourites and Villa will either be swarmed OR if per Emery's tactics go to plan and they hit the right balance between energy, intensity and clinical finishing on the break, a competitive match may be had.
Here's hoping there are no VAR or Ref controversies, lets play ball and the best team wins!

Newcastle injuries as a reason they're struggling? No mention of Villa injuries?! Mings, Buendia, Ramsey missing all season along with Kamara for a 1/3 as well as Torres and Konsa in and out. Villa have been criminally underrated this season because Emery has chosen not to complain

I disagree, there has been a marked difference between Prem-Arsenal and CL-Arsenal performances. Prem-Arsenal have kicked it up a gear and are playing with confidence. CL-Arsenal is more tentative, unsure, still learning how to play CL level euro football. All of which is understandable, this is the first time for both Arteta and this Arsenal team. And despite this, it hasn't derailed their Prem confidence and they are in the quarters and all to play for still. Not a bad place to be!

@@SirUnaiEmery IF I remember rightly, Emery had to be very pragmatic as he realised the team were spent mentally and physically per the effort they put in to win over City. So his plan was to take the game to Arsenal, score a goal and then defend like fiends, because that's all they had in the tank to do. Arsenal I agree had a poor game from a clinical finishing POV, had a lot of the possession but I would say that Villa's performance putting bodies on the line, low block worked as Emery had planned. That's the genuis of Emery and why we love him win, lose or draw!
Having said that, that's a one off, that was then this is now. Arsenal are a, more assured, confident team playing great football including a really solid defence whereas Villa are racked by injuries, too small a squad and haven't really quite recovered their form from the City, Arsenal game BUT are surprisingly not too far off Arsenal's stats and have kept 4th for most of the season for a reason.
Arsenal will rightly be overwhelming favourites. Villa will either be swarmed OR per Emery's tactical plan of they hit the right balance between energy, intensity and clinical finishing on the break may be able to pull a surprise.

Kamara & Ramsey also both out for the rest of the season. Cash, Konsa, Torres, Carlos, Lenglet, Duran, Tielemans, McGinn all been missing for periods. Villa didn't fold meekly, firstly all the players who started were ones who have started in other games and in Europe. Secondly the only player to be benched was truly Tielemans as Bailey doesn't start every match, he often comes on as a fresh pair of legs.
Secondly, we scored a cracking goal, almost took the lead, had some real chances and held off City until they scored the 2nd in the last min, first half. A stupid foul by Luiz and even worse a bloody awful wall that collapsed, school boy error. Our errors in other words contributed to the loss it wasn't the team selection.

btw we will travel up on Saturday, stay overnight. That's our usual away policy as Enery likes the team to be focused and he has more quality time with them. So not an issue, now missing Kamara and Luiz will be a challenge.

@@mondemdluli9we want champions league too we aren't just going to let you win and against City we didn't play a weak team on purpose we had to. Other than Torres and Bailey that was basically the best team we could field due to injuries and suspensions.

See why Athletic aren't liked by Villa fans.Luiz to old for Arsenal??wtf,he's 25!Prizing Watkins out of Villa, for what??He's got everything at Villa he could want. This feels like a clickbait show, rather than an examination of clubs.Youre welcome.

Literacy has nothing to do with pronunciation 😂 Also, way to mess up your grammar in a comment trying to mock others. You should have used illiterate not illiteracy

Really pathetic, one-eyed, 'big-6', drivel yet again. When is the athletic going to learn that there are more than 6 teams in the league, and that each have their own interesting stories?
