  • Running this engine for the first time in an unknown number of years. This engine was seized but complete when purchased. It took about three months of soaking to free it up. No machine work done to the block, only honing and port polishing.

The engine in my '47 Tudor Sedan doesn't use the "crab-style" distributor cap; it uses the V2 - 2 piece cap. Perhaps Ford left the earlier style on the truck engines.

The Flattie is THE most beautiful American V8, in my opinion.

Beautiful. Are you running a Canadian aluminum intake?

That's basically a water cooled V8 Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine.

      Not at at all

@@johndaniels1356 Actually that is pretty accurate. They sound great and run forever, just don't ask them to make any real horsepower.

They can make real horsepower. They just take more work. Make excellent torque.

Maybe accurate to you but I've seen a Briggs and Stratton V8 and it sounds nothing like a Ford flathead v8

@@johndaniels1356 If the B&S V8 has a cross plane crankshaft, it sounds EXACTLY like a Flathead Ford. A crossplane [even firing] V8 can only sound one way.....
