Gladys Horton just killin it here! Rough, raspy, edgy...my favortite version. Great post.
Fun to compare to The Miracles's version. Both are good. The Marvelettes always did a great job with Smokey's songs.

WANDA YOUNG'S VOICE WAS NICE, BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL ABOUT GLADYS HORTON'S.

i'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Smokey Robinson & the Miracles did the original version of Way Over There in 1960. I was in the 10th grade, but I always liked the Marvellettes version better.
Great!
I totaly agree
I too like this better, and I'm a huge Miracles fan. I believe this was Unreleased.
Idole
Anybody know when this was actually recorded? If it's early, that could be Berry pounding on the piano beautifully!
1961 on their Please Mr. Postman LP.
She was so deep
Am I correct in assuming this was released on an LP in any case it's great with all due respect to the Miracles
Commenter today says "1961 On their Please Mr Postman LP" That should be easy enough to verify.
Correct I have the lp
This is on the "Please Mr. postman" Album with the mailbox on the cover
I'm going to stay
I guess it was on their 1962 LP
Jr Walker on sax?
i'm so glad you enjoyed it!
