The panther 88 is an example of exploiting interest in the panther line along the same lines. I have the tank, and its mostly fun because I think its a cool tank.
A friend on mine who just started playing REALLLLLLY wants a panther (he's going to be really disappointed), I told him to get this even though it sucks compared to Panther m10 and the Pz4s, he really likes it because it's a panther and he needs credits more than crew training

bought this tank. Here is why. Cheap ammo and some decent pen. I own both the Lowe and IS6. The Lowe is slow and the ammo costs are high. The Lowe can even lose credits in battles. The Lowe supposedly has an accurate gun but it can highly inaccurate whenever the games RNG rigging comes into play with shots going all over the place. A few missed shots or non pens and you can lose credits fast. Especially if you don't pay for premium time. I don't buy premium in the summer months, it should be obvious why. The IS6 is slightly faster than the Lowe. The 122 has horrible pen and will even bounce on same tier tanks and even some tier 7 tanks. 175 pen is miserable against tier 8's and nightmarish against tier 9 tanks. The IS6 can see tier 9 tanks. People make a big deal out of the armor, that is negated with gold round spam. If someone sees an IS6 they load the gold rounds. So the armor is useless. So what do you have? A slow tank with bad pen and can get penned easily thanks to the game ruining gold rounds. You need to pen targets to do damage to make credits. 175 pen is not reliable enough to make credits. The Panther 88 is relatively quick, mobile and the pen is not bad. Plus the ammo is cheap. So if a round flies astray or bounces I would rather pay 250 credits than 1,000 for that miss or bounce. Is it perfect? No. But for someone who doesn't use premium a whole lot and wants to make credits the Panther 88 isn't bad.
WulfOne I forgot to mention the Lowes damage. The stats say the Lowe does 320 damage. But I routinely get low damage rolls. I have done 250 damage in this tank. The reload is long as well, too long for the amount of damage it does. This is another reason the Panther 88 is a good tank. It does about the same damage and again the rounds cost less.
Fun fact: The Panther II has a 8,8 cm L/71 gun also, and has a better rate of fire, higher top speed, better hull armour (+20mm front, +10mm side), it can carry 24 more rounds, has a better load limit and a better radio (160 meters difference)

I'm a pretty bad player (waiiet_warrior, look me up), yet in my first game in the Panther 8,8 I did 2k damage, finishing in the top 3 people on my team for damage dealt (wasn't a great team). It got me almost 54k credits before repairs etc. Put this in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing, and I think they'll have some great games in it.

from the stats its the best Tier 8 premium, learn the facts. A FCM has no chance against a Panther 8.8, with the 60mm on HE you can boost your dmg against light tanks and side armor of medium tanks to 300 per shot, it improves your dmg to 3000 per minute, highest dpm in game.
Tobias Sczakiel well good for you. I've seen 60%ers in AMX40s it doesn't make the tank good though. Just think for second. The normal Panther 2 will get now a big buff in 9.17.1 because it was worse than other tanks. Now the 88 Panther is basically a not as good Panther2. What does this tell us about its performance? Right. It can't be good. It is simply impossible it performs much better than a normal Panther 2. If one is bad, the other one is too. Simple as that. After the Ravioli buff this tank falls even more behind. If you want a T8 German medium, get a Mutz. It is better in every way. And according to leaks it will be available for gold soon.
This tank is not represented well in the game. There were so many variations irl (Panther Ausf. D, Panther Ausf. A, Panther Ausf. G etc.) and yet we don't have any in game while so many prototypes are running around.

I bought one for the sake of curiosity(DO NOT TRY), bad camo rating + thin amor + fragile module + tier 10 match, people play games for FUN, not FRUSTRATION! If you buy this tank, you are paying to have frustration, heart attack, blood pressure etc. It is just not good for your health.
