its like comparing cs go and escape from tarkov, both same category but theyre totally different, you can compare wot and armored warfare because both games are arcade
There is one HUGE difference which was not mentioned. Calculation of visibility is done server-side in WoT, and client-side in WT. This creates many conceptual differences. In WoT, enemy tanks might be sitting in the open but not rendered because of fixed visibility ranges, bonuses and penalties. In WT tanks are always rendered, even if they are just a single pixel 5 km away. In WoT therefore spotting is based on stats, and in WT spotting is based on player skill. WT arcade does have some stat-based spotting, but the ranges are big enough anyway that you can't just sit in plain sight and be invisible due to great camo stats like you can do in WoT. Also, server-side calculation in WoT makes it necessary for a great part of the bandwidth to be used for transmitting raycasting data, so it is likely impossible to have too many projectiles in the air at the same time. This is why WT can allow machineguns and autocannons, while WoT will likely never be able to implement them. WT's client-side calculation might give way to cheaters, this is likely why WT has a much stricter punishment, lifelong ban if caught using even one single cheat.
@@Tankenstein This is also likely the reason why in World of Warships only the main battery shells can be manually fired, and the AA fire graphics are there just for decoration, and the damage to airplanes is calculated indirectly. Yet in War Thunder every single machinegun bullet's trajectory is calculated, and they have to actually hit the airplane to cause damage.
@@LEWTSPEC not really, if we consider that some players are deliberately playing on ultra-low graphic settings, because they consider it can have some slight benefits.
That's only true in WW2 mode on WOT. We have true vision in CW mode, and so you will always be able to spot if you're keen enough. It also makes camouflage selection important.
Spotting in WOT was so annoying. Caused me to quit because of a player rendering in (while in a bush) and then instant killing me with a tank destroyer. It was a premium vehicle too (for the enemy) so I was extra salty. Many times it felt like my tank commander should be able to see these guys but it just didn’t work out like that so I got pummeled.
“The economy in war thunder is far more favorable to the players” *me crying as a Swedish main* Edit: guys I was gifted some GE from a friend and got the moffett during a 50% off sale, out of debt finally :D
I remember playing WoT for years, until one day I saw an ad for war thunder and decided to try it out. Crazy enough, what made me fall in love with the game was the fact that when I used the m3 lee, I could use the 75mm, the 37mm, and all of its machine guns and it just absolutely made me feel like a badass. War thunder immerses you and makes you feel like a real tank commander, from having to hide in bushes to ambush the other team too slowly creeping around a forest, knowing that one shot is all it takes to get you out. Because you have modules and crew members, you have to he weary of what you show the enemy, and what you can do to them as well. The same comes with the planes, where you could lose an engine or a flap, and now you have to struggle to find a way in which you will survive.
One of the reasons I prefer WT over WOT is the health system. Basically, it feels much more thrilling to one shot enemies in WT, while being aware you can get one shot easily as well. Another thing is the aiming, I found it so frustrating that I have to wait for the 'circle to get smaller', so I can get a shot. Searching for weakspots is awesome as hell too.
Both things have a good and a bad thing. Hp: Pro: You can use some of your hp to kill a low-hp tank Con: Oneshots are only possible if you play a low-tier tank with a big caliber Circle: Pro: a lot of fun when you have a giantic circle but still hit Con: you don't always hit Also, a reason to like wot it because your shell don't drop, which just give more comfort.
@konigstiger9370 Yeah, WT is so much better, when you shoot with a KV2 point blank range at a M3 and you only get "critical hit" when the shell impact alone would have killed everybody inside that tincan.
@konigstiger9370it’s not supposed to be super realistic, it’s an arcade game. I’d rather have an HP system and not get killed from a single shot in a bush
I like how gaijin handles things. Saw one of their updates in enlisted like "we redid these bombs because we had their specs set for 50kg of HE instead of 50kg of (forgot) which is a more energetic explosive filler" or an update like "we Changed the look of the Russian cape so it’s the proper style of cape for that point in the war". I love how they really shoot for realism.
Don't always congratulate them lol, they once threw out official documented modules because they read on a Polish magazine that the M1 Abrams didn't have a specific thermal sight (even though it did).
enlisted is great buyt i cannot stand the fact that the T34 is soooooooooo much better than the PZIV. i just want to pretend im a nazi defending the HQ but the russian tank is soooo OP it only has one tiiiny little weak spot
Great video, but I disagree on the point of WT engines sounding similar. You can tell the difference between countries and tank models from bottom to top tier pretty accurately with practice.
absolutely. hell the other day I could tell what country I was fighting just from the engine sounds. I guessed it was an AMX-30, and I was right. I do think it is a little harder to tell at lower tiers though.
Indeed, often times you can tell what tank may be around the corner just from engine sound. Especially in high tiers, Leopard 2A6, Abram's and T80's have distinguishable sounds
Another big difference is that WT is great for collectors, as you can keep all the vehicles you unlocked and bought. There are no garage slot limits forcing you to sell tanks you own.
I think the biggest strength of War Thunder is that it can be reasonably realistic while still offering enjoyable gameplay. It strikes a nice balance between an arcade PvP game and a simulator which I believe lots of people look for.
@@darracqboy I know people like to shit on Gaijin for the excessive grind, and with it the way to pay to skip it, but as someone who plays almost exclusively low tier, doesn't care about events and usually plays in bursts instead of every day, the game is fantastic in my opinion and one of the few that actually make me come back again and again for almost a decade now. And although I don't play all the time, I still watch content surrounding the game regularly, which probably means something.
@@SoundBubble Yeah, I play WoT for the high tier stuff, I play WT for the low tier fun. In WoT, the health bar and semi-realistic tank armor makes for some fun gameplay that really feels like boxing or something like that but with tanks. Hence, high tier focused fun; though mainly 7 & 8. 9 & 10 can be fun, but the sheer cost of ammo and repairs is pain.
Ah yes! Gameplay is so much fun when an enemy bomber flys through trees without taking damage just to divebomb you and drop a bomb that is only the size of a coke bottle that kills everyone in your tank from 10 feet away
Apparently the WOT armor pen system got oversimplified from it's older version when I used to play it. Old WOT was closer to Warthunder Arcade battles than the current WOT
@@MarksmanDynamics Only fools think WT is realistic... tell me which tank in the world shots the very next second they see an enemy over half a mile... like in WT? they need to count the distance... set the aim etc. perfectly exhibited in WoT via Aim Time...Also... which tank in the world relies on naked eye to take the aim... Arcade is the equivalent of radar and they modern communication system... And thirdly where the hell do you get 3 lives from...??? people who think WT is realistic are fools... LOL
@@-saklo-2256 3 spawns doesnt represnent lives, nobody said that arcade was a realistic game mode and the reaction time relies on thr gunner - in real life if a gunner is really skilled hell be able to make the shot just as fast with the naked eye (although he probably wouldnt do it because like snipers hell want to be 100% sure hell hit the first shot). Also WT gives you tools to make those calculations (default scopes and customizes scopes) players just dont use it because it takes too much time and also they miss a lot of times
I found WoT way more frustrating because of their MM system. This is from a week ago, when I was giving both games a trial and decided WT was better. Even though I can still get 1-shot in WT, I've never really felt the seal-clubbing phenomenon like I did in WoT. Tiers 1-3 were really fun in WoT, but from tier 4, I had a bad time, especially with the artillery cheese.
NGL I even though i had several tier 10 tanks in WOT by the time I stopped playing I loved war thunder much more because of skill expression. I hate that aiming "dispersion" that WOTs has because even though I knew tank weak points I would often loose because my gunner is drunk off his *** and couldn't hit the side of a barn
ya I am now a 3 tech tree veterin of War Thunder so I have seen the best and worst of what most players will deal with and before WT was a thing I played WoT and I can't stand how high they have to make your gunner, WT is all about that skill and knowledge but WoTs is all about the money you pay
Umm, seriously? Being constantly uptiered form the 1.3 onwards and facong tanks you can not scratch or see whule being oneshotted across the map is fun and not frustrating? At least Wargaming did something about it and you are much less put to +2 MM. In the oposite, Gaijin drunkards do not bother to do anything at all about it.
I've never seen gameplay for world of tanks out side of ads and I've played like 2+ hours of war thunder so I can safely say that both of these are the video games.
@@SpencerBaum the kills just feel more rewarding and after the HE rework in WoT I gave up. I had every tier 10 arty excluding Russian and it killed them
Same. I played World of Tanks since 2011. This year I started War Thunder and I enjoy both RB and Arcade modes! I still get one shot from no where but still learning.
To me, it was always a problem of World of Tanks felt too linear. The varying levels of War Thunder’s battles with aircraft in tank battles, and anti aircraft vehicles namely. They apply more to battles then just simple, tanks rush each other.
@@RSTBKTat least it’s a free respawn, get two boats and a plane and you have 3 respawns in RB if you kill like 2 people. That’s cool for kamikaze attacks, I bring a bomber drop everything but one and then kamikaZe while dropping the last bomb. Ez dead destroyer
I do that in WoT too, but sadly it not implemented ingame, but it is on extren websites, one of the things I wish WoT would finally bring into the game.
@@m4sherman375 got a new missile carrier unlocked and test range was invaluable to get a feel for how fast they travel/how responsive they are. I can't imagine taking a new vehicle into a battle without some testing
for me the biggest thing with WT why i perfer it to WOT is how research is handled, in WOT you can only research the next tank with the pervous tank, where with WT you can use what ever tank you have, with the pervous tank just getting a bonus to the research. so if there is a horid tank you dont want to play you dont have to
Still a garbage system to what WT used to have. My favorite thing about WT early on was that you'd research an *entire row* of vehicles for every tier you advanced. They changed the progression system in WT years ago to make it a hundred times slower.
@@Correction_Guy free exp is normally locked to a tank you need premium currency to get it off, WoT you do get some free exp in normal games but it isnt like how WT handles it, basicly with WT you can reseach any vehicle with any vehicle of that type (tanks for tanks, planes for planes), with efficency brackets
@@nitebones1 Free EXP in WoT is like a little extra EXP to research critical module of a tanks that you will really need for F2P. In WT, it's nothing but useless resource, unless you can earn GE somewhere for F2P
I agree, as someone who is already entering tier 5 of the US in WT by how do I put this.... grabbing something called “Here is a low tier tank, I shall yeet it against MBTs.” The research in WT is absolutely bad, and the fact you can crossover the same tank rounds from the same gun, and have to research it as well just absolutely kills.
Im just gonna ignore everything but just the "ding" "Enemy target has been destroyed" and the writing "Target Destroyed" with the rewards written down... Thats such satisfaction and whoever designed that. God fucking damn it give him a medal.
World of tanks is a far more satisfying game if you play at a high level. There is nothing in warthunder that even comes close to getting your first Radley Walters, or Kolobanovs medals.
@@NosferatusTG I think if you are more competitive minded Wot is more satisfying. But the one shot capability of WT with the presentation as you kill your target is more satisfying otherwise. Also keep in mind, in Wot, kills aren't the most important, because you get your reward based by your damage, while in wt you get your meaningful rewards after your kills.
I have played both and I used to be a hardcore WoT sweat lord. I used to participate in CW and try to 3 mark my tier 10s. But after many years got a little burned out, so now i play from time to time in intervals. I also like WT, though I havent played as much because I had a hard time understanding how the diffrent ammunition worked, and the game was genreally harder to understand for me. But as I got older and started to understand it mote I got a liking and played a lot. But it eventuelly got to the same point as WoT and I dont play super activly anymore. Today I play and enjoy both games. They both have simular problems in my eyes and by being a fan of these two games means you will have to endure a bit of suffering. But I might be a little biased for WoT since I played since 2012 and WT only since 2016 but I really love both! I would like to give you this advice: If your young and want to be copetitive in a game WoT is the go to. Being a seasoned counter strike player who has reached global WoT gives me competetive satisfaction and it feels great to outplayed opponets and win battles on your own. WT on the other hand gives me a large history boner as a history nerd. The realism and historical accuracy is awesome and gives WT and experience unlike anything else. It is also extreamly satisfying when you are having a good game one shotting everyone in my way. So if you are a competetive player play WoT and learn all the cool mechanics, if you are more laid back and want to play something realistic play WT. Both are great with friends btw :)
I was interested in tanks when i started playing WOT but health points made me burned out from WOT, so i started playing War Thunder and been playing arcade mode and loving it since. The game taught me a lot about tanks and aircraft. Sometimes i go back to the health point system but in Armored Warfare instead of WOT, to me Armored Warfare also seems to be an overall better WOT
For me, gameplay wise, the "Aim time" was the deal breaker. The time that you have to wait for the reticle to shrink. Although the main reason was very backwards and stupid business model (Paying to play with a number of friends and premium ammo)
You forgot to mention one thing that is massively different between two game and that is the ability to research other vehicles with premium tank in War Thunder, this is not possible in WG games whether it is WoT or WoWS you can not research other vehicles with premium vehicle, they only give you extra money and XP which you need gold to convert it into free xp if you want to use it to research a tech tree vehicle.
This is one thing that makes WT also pay to win. In Wot premium tanks are mainly for credits but in WT you can just speed your way through tanks you dont like
@@iamthematti No. That is not even pay 2 win, this literally doesn't affect the gameplay in anyway ?! It is literally no different to buying premium account to increase XP bonus ? Do you call premium account pay 2 win aswell simply because it helps you grinding tech tree faster ? And it can't be P2W if it doesn't give you any advantage in winning a game. More like pay 2 progress. You get more bang for your buck with WT premium vehicles overall.
To be perfectly honest, low pressure cannons absolutely CAN be used to lob projectiles over buildings in War Thunder. But you don't have magical telepathic link with some guy on a magic carpet to make it easy. Won't be surprised if we'll get some drone-assisted laser guidance for some artillery pieces though, if only to encourage players to use SPAA more.
As if people need encouragement for spaa I'm honestly surprised at how many ww2 ostwind crews there are in wt half the time I die it's either a panther, tiger, or ostwind
I've gotten Calliope kills without line of sight. For example B is getting capped 800 meters away so I just lob some rockets that way and find an unlucky open top boy.
@@DFlaminberry At some maps like Finland and Frozen pass (Where you expect enemy from chokepoints) blind shooting of high caliber cannons might do the trick. Spawn shooting is outright logic - and extremely trolly in RB since you can drop artillery instantly. Killing the fast boy leroying his way to that sweet, sweet plane never gets old.
I would have to place a caveat on the new player experience from someone with 4778 and 9708 battles on both WoT and WT respectively. In comparison to the new player experience in WoT, the new player experience in WT is positively brutal. Learning game mechanics in WoT is fairly linear with penetration, spotting, vehicle type, shell type and positioning being pretty intuitive. WT on the other hand, is really rough for new players. Arcade may be a tad bit easier due to the spotting system and hit markers, but once a new player presses that RB/SB button, the game becomes a totally different experience. Weakspot knowledge, positioning, map knowledge, target recognition, shell types and penetration, shell drop, suspension shooting, module damage, audio cueing and keybindings for tanks alone take a considerable amount of time to become comfortable with- and I'm not even adding to this the skills you need to play aircraft and helicopters effectively for air support. Hell, juggling the information overload from visual and audio cueing alone, something that WoT lacks, takes a lot of effort to master. When comparing how I started between the two games, I can honestly say that it was only in WT where I actually got so disoriented that I drove right into the enemy spawn in ground RB. If I sound like I'm discouraging players from playing WT, I'm really not. Despite the difficulty in mastering WT's game mechanics, it is some of the most fun I've had in a game to date. Although the skill curve is very steep, the game is far more satisfying than WoT imo. After all, it is only in WT where you can ambush and kill a Leopard 2A6, Abrams or T90A while using an M22, Puma or some other low tier tank. The lack of enemy markers as well as track, breech, and barrel module damage makes skill an equalizer for everything be they WW2, Cold War or modern MBTs. Edit* spelling
WT's new player experience on tanks is absolutely terrible. I tried making a new account for funsies to see what it'd be like since I haven't had zero progress on tanks since tanks were added. It's insanely unfun, holy shit. It's only remotely enjoyable when you unlock the ~2.0-3.0 tanks that can sorta move well and have a halfway decent gun. Completely different on aircraft though. Personally I find starting aircraft lines to be very enjoyable and simple.
@@Kottery I start playing WT almost after release because of airplanes and it's still the reason I play WT but I have also some high BR ground vehicles an due to my experience the high tiers are the worst gameplay experience (mostly because of the maps which should be bigger without obvious spots from which you don't move whole game and you're still best performer in the match thanks to rangefinder). Right now I am playing wot probably more than WT probably because of about 11years experience, maybe because I'm a big patriot and I can't play lt 35 and 38 under Germany, and the third reason is probably that sometimes I just want to ride a tank which exists only on paper, to make it live and don't forget about someones work (and sometimes they're really interesting like lőwe, obj 257 or KV 4).
I definitely agree, I started playing war thunder in arcade mode and did fine, I switched to rb and it felt like the second I moved out of cover someone shot me from nowhere, took me a while to get used to it lol
I’ve played my fair share of WOT and I enjoyed it years ago, but not so much anymore. I switched to War Thunder about 2 years ago and I haven’t regretted it. Even though WT isn’t super realistic I just like it a whole lot more due to it being less arcady then WOT. I love both ground and air arcade battles, but only ground realistic. There was definitely a learning curve that took time, but over quarantine I was able to learn how to become a solid player. Even when I stopped for months then picked up the controller and played it I still loved it. Now WT definitely has some problems and BS, but compared to how bad WOT was getting when I stopped even on the worst days I’d still rather play WT. I also love how it’s more skill than WOT especially in my favorite mode groun rb.
I like the tier system in warthunder better than world of tanks (we need the ohka as a plane tho which everyone has been saying for years). I felt like I had a shot to actually win while playing tier 2 and 3, which wasnt really the case for French and Japanese tanks in WOT
@@teros7146 No it's not... what skills u require in WoT? Skill cap wise WT is miles and miles more than WoT... reason all the oldies are in WoT...
@@-saklo-2256 alone saying that the spotting mechanic is simple makes you seem to dont know shit. there are less than 100 players that actually understand how it works to the fullest, these can for example, when they get spotted pinpoint where the enemy is, whithout getting shot at, to be able to do that you need to know all the spotting ranges from all tanks and you need to know their camo percentage, but even if you know all that you still need to calculate the corresponding distances for all the enemy tanks. and this is just 1 mechanic, lets do not start with the HE mechanics, I could write an 10 page article only about the functionality of the HE ammunition. Also just knowing the key positions is useless, you need to understand your teams and the enemy teams strenghts and weaknesses to actually use the correct positions, without that knowledge you will never be better than slightly above average. Since I already am tired, lets just agree that both games have different kinds of skills required, and arguing wich needs more skill is pointless, ok?
I've played WoT a lot, even earned money from playing it one time. Dropped it 3 years ago. I'll be honest, if you are a casual player WoT is generally better, specially if you have friends to play with. WoT actually promotes teamplay way more than WT, coz its a game a numbers. You can exchange HP for each other, focus fire targets, there is WAY more fun to be had in WoT if you have people to play with. WT(Playing since planes beta) has a much harder learning curve, its not difficult persay, you just need to know a bit more. Teamwork aspect in WT is also...not as fun as in WoT, simply coz one of you can get send to spawn from across the map in an instant. There are less mechanics that support it. IMHO.
WoT and WoWS are rigged bullshit. You cant even tell if your skills brought you the win, or the rigged mechanics. Wargaming are greedy scammers. In WT teamplay is a complete different thing, cause you can shield your mates with your tank and if you die, you can join in with 2 other vehicles. Forget about WoT.....its bullshit, made BY complete idiots, FOR complete idiots.

After switching to Wt from Wot i can day its been pretty nice. It's nice to be able to one shot, not worry about an aiming reticle cool down and not having enemies disappear right in front of you
WT has a few issues. CAS becomes oppressive once guided missiles become a thing, particularly with helicopters. Revenge CAS is a big issue that people just have to deal with. AP with HE filler has a disproportionately high damage output compared to plain AP as evidenced by simulations. Having extra spawns in WT is kind of a curse, since if the enemy has taken up some key positions on the map, it can be very unlikely to successfully dislodge them, and the areas between the spawn zones and the capture points are often kill zones on many maps, making respawning often suicide in a match. The game also punishes you for not respawning when possible by locking your crews for up to 10 minutes. Finally, collisions work very poorly in WT for whatever reason. It’s as if only the server side even tries to do collision calculations, so players will awkwardly clip into each other and jiggle around when they collide. WT was really made as an air battle game, and it shows. Though air battles are currently facing many issues with early jets with neither missiles nor flares facing jets with modern missiles and radar sets (it’s so bad that they just have to look at you, press a button, and you’re dead), and high rank props also face early jets, which leave the props incapable of doing anything except waiting for the occasional slip ups and mopping up damaged stragglers.
@@J7Handle In fairness, some of these issues are just things that actually happened/are true in real life. APHE in general is going to be more useful for post-pen damage because that's what it is made for. AP isn't supposed to knock out all the crew unless you can line them up that way. It's more useful for targeting individual components or crew if you can afford to take multiple shots. The same thing with the technology mismatch, which also happens in mid-high tier ground battles when you can take a Tiger II into a match with other ground vehicles that have ATGMs. You could say it's a fault of the matchmaking system, but at the same time not every battle or war ever fought in the real world has been symmetrical, in fact most of them weren't. You can say it's part of the progression of the game to struggle through a weaker vehicle until you unlock something more competitive. However I do agree about revenge CAS and the map design, spawn trapping is kind of cringe and I wish they'd do something about it but it's not a problem unique to WT, happens in a lot of PVP games. I think past a certain point you have to acknowledge that a lot of the "unfairness" of the game comes down to the dedication to realism (it's not the most realistic game, obviously, but it tries). I hate the fact that my Sherman Firefly is nearly unplayable on most maps because it has about half a thumbnail's worth of gun depression, so even a bump in a flat road can put me in a position where I'm effectively now an SPAA unit because all I can no longer aim at tanks in front of me. In any other game, that'd be awful balancing. Give it worse gun depression than other tanks, sure, but make it useable at least, right? Well, no. The real thing only had -4° degrees of gun depression because that gun was a retrofit and the turret wasn't built for it, so that's all I'm getting in-game. I have to counter that by learning where on each map it is able to be effective because the gun is great if I can actually point it at anyone. The game really rewards learning how these vehicles and systems operated IRL and trying to replicate that, because while it is a video game, it's not made to be fair, it's made to be accurate, within reason.
Same. WT has more to offer, but I enjoy both games a lot. I like to play WoT to not get one shot and have aim circles and fun arcade gameplay (even though their mechanics of spotting and stuff are complex), but I love WT for its realism and how much more they have to offer. Depends on your play style. I like both. It seems I'm in the 1% that likes both games lol.
Ah cool same for me, used to play WoT but switched as well. But if you’re that type of person who just wants pure realism I would also suggest Arma or DCS.
I played both games for years and I'll say this, play both games for a week or month and see which one you enjoy more. Me personally I enjoy both games.
liturally just played the game where tank in wide open disappears in front of my eyes, how is that a good thing? how does that make sense even for an arcade game. @@jesperviktorsson8027 it helps, contrary to what people say the expirence from one helps in the other no matter how different the games are. Stopped playing WoT but I can tell you I miss not having to deal with Cas spam, and people being able to respawn after you own them. Yet I like not having to face OP BS paper tanks anymore, nor deal with the power creep.
the nature of WOT beeing more arcade makes it more dynamic and adds complex teamplay. if one or two guys in your team suck, the whole team has to deal with it, so gaining map control and thinking two steps in front is kinda complicated. knowing your tank, your role on the battlefield and how to act ist mandatory. the no respawn policy, the compected maps and faster gameplay make it more competative, while more unrealistic at the same time
faster gameplay? The Map design is most of the time something, where the team loses that first does a move, that makes it either a super fast game with no action at all, or a super slow game, where a few tanks decide the fate of the match. For example Prokhorovka is mostly dependent on the light tanks and if their are SPG's than those and the light tanks decide the match 80% of the time. One of WoT's biggest problems is their extremly slow paced gameplay. Even tho it may sound like a WoT hate, it really isnt, since I play both and have even more hours in WoT than in WT.
Pretty good overview, though I would have put much more emphasis on how War Thunder is much more grind heavy. It will take much longer to reach top tier in WT and grinding just one tech tree branch is usually not enough for you to be competitive. You need to grind aircraft tech tree as well if you want to have proper effect in ground battles.
Fastest i've grinded on WT to toptier going only one branch on was 2 months all F2P but you'll have to play the everyday while tryharding which is not fun
WT appeals to me more because of the aircraft I can use with the tanks nothing is more satisfying than using something like an F-4E to drop a line of bombs clearing the way for friendly forces
But here's the neat part: you can play another tank and make money, while still researching the next tank If you're doing bad in a certain tank in WoT you're stuck playing it no matter what, unless you have enough free exp, but that might work once, maybe twice, especially at higher tiers.
Yes, indeed. That's why they have the Reserve tanks that don't cost silver lions to repair. I stopped playing the US T95 because of the repairing costs. Now I play way much more the tier 1 with reserves and have so much silver lions to spare that I almost don't care anymore about repairing costs.
@@TheByQQwho said that? You also can play previous tanks to grind for cheaper things but wot gives so much neat stuff like premium or silver you need to grind like in a month or just enjoy the game.
That's a good idea! I might be able to do that in the next few weeks. I have a laptop and a main computer, plus an old computer that I used to use to play War Thunder, so I have quite a bit of experience on what specs work and which ones don't
I feel like you mention realism aspect in every single part of a video. I get that it's important for you personally, but for example gamplay section should focus more on things like "does it feel FUN to play", "is the controling the tank responsive", "how good are the maps" and many other things. Still, a solid video, I learned few things.
I assume the OP is mostly using fighter jets, else he wouldn't talk about realism or simulator modes in WT. Basically, Tanks , Bombers and Ships are multi-person vehicles - and for good reasons.
@@Morale72 In any case does it run a LOT smoother than WoT that needs either VM or has to run on my old Laptop because it relies on Windows ( For which, behold! a 12 core 4GHz CPU with 32GB Ram are insufficient to run, but a 2.1GHz dualcore with 4GB is just spiffy )...
I might have to disagree with new user friendly. I believe warthunder has a easier entry period without regard to realism, br1-2 and sometimes 3 are both easy and a great learning area with a lot of variety. I do agree though that the volume of choice can seem overwhelming.
after over 30k battles in WoT i decided to give WT a try and boyoboy did it not dissapoint me, WarThunder is far superior in every aspect. the playerbase in wot is just so toxic, i have the chieftain and 279(e) in wot and it just disgusted me if i got in a tier8 match because the enemy's were just sitting ducks.. Warthunder overall is way more teambased then wot because you really need your teammates where i wot you can carry a game by yourself
I would argue that WT is not really that team-based since you could just respawn and play for yourself. In WoT, it's game number. Each tank have their own role and to succeed, need some degree of teamwork. LT spot and TD fire at them, MT flank, HT hold the line and breakthrough. SPG... uh, I hate this thing but they could stun your enemy and render it crippled for some seconds from long range.
On the sounds, tank engines have different sounds so that makes it possible to identify a tank near you even if you can't see it. If you turn off your engine to keep quiet the electric battery of the tank starts draining (if it has one) and if it drains completely the turret has to be hand cranked making it turn a lot slower (this also happens if your engine gets destroyed) Engine sound recognition is hard however, as in you need to listen to them for a good while before being able to differentiate them. Getting a tank's location from sound is easy. Also it's pretty neat you can turn on speed of sound which delays noise depending on distance (according to how long it would realistically take for it to travel that distance). It's pretty much a handicap especially in planes, but it's pretty cool so I use it
Ive been playing both game for 8 years switching between them every couple of months when i get burnt out. If i had to play only one it would probably be War Thunder. For new players i'd recooment the same. Lesser p2w experience, realistic gameplay, tanks planes ships and helicopters in one single game, all the ammo choices, almost nonexistent rng and custom user maps, vehicles and missions. These are the things i couldnt live without P.S. Its definitely still a huge grind to top tier, but dont rush it. Try to enjoy all the vehicles from mid and low tiers and you'll have a great time
Same for me. I play both on and off. I play more War Thunder now, but I still enjoy World of Tanks. War Thunder has more realism an more to offer in terms of vehicle functions. They also offer more vehicles, like planes. The other thing I enjoy about War Thunder more than World of Tanks, is that every tier is fun, and every vehicle is unique. I can enjoy the entire tech tree of a nation. In World of Tanks, I skip the low tiers as fast as possible to get to tier 6 through 10. And even then I play mostly tier 8-10 to get away from even tier 6. But I still enjoy WoT.
As for sound and voice acting... Absolute champion here is "Gunner, HEAT, PC"! On top of doing great job with engine and gun sounds, the commander is awesome! For example, if you are watching enemy tanks passing by and not spotting you, his voice will be calm. However, if they stop and start turning towards you, he will be kind of jumpy...When their turrets start turning towards you, he will be a lot jumpy! And total screaming if the enemy gun is pointed at you... I loved this detail!
Yes, actually I think that when it comes out it'll replace WT tanks part for me I would still play air battles in WT but ww2 era tanks will be WoT and modern tanks GHPC. I downloaded every version of it and it looks awesome.
That "Critical Hit" and "Target/Aircraft Destroyed" is pure ASMR and a dopamine shot. I'll also take penetrations at the will of a snail over hitpoints and whatever in the GirlsUndPanzer heck that premium shell system is trying to do.
Coming from World of Tanks I can say that War Thunder is worlds superior! Much better balanced battles. Also that you get to play 3 tanks is so much better. Also progression is much faster and more fun. WoT feels like pure pay2play
I left WoT to find sth more challenging. It was so hard to adopt the machanisim of WT when you have zero armor and keep focusing on the minimap and died without awareness of what just happened , but after a week i became inlove with wt ❤️❤️❤️. Thank you for your useful information
One problem both games has is people who have highly skilled crews and have been playing for many years, seal clubbing new players. I'm playing with a new gun 2 cm, getting annihilated by a 10.5 CM Cannon. Let's just say it's starting off amazing
I played both and when I was quickly killed in WoT I was furious, but being 1shot killed in WT never make me angry. WT is more relaxing bc you have second chance in news vehicle and you too can 1shot someone.
I AGREE. WOT just feels more painful because you have only one chance to live.WT feels more relaxing because you can always come back with more tanks or planes
@@Little-bird-told-meI mean if you persevere you’re health till late game then you can trade with tanks that are lower health so it might be a skill issue
BR compression is still an issue and will continue to be so, but it is the exception and not the norm. Generally speaking you can take any vehicle at its BR and perform well so long as you play smart.
The most difficult for me when switching from wot to wt was not being able to see from where i was getting shot or even spotting enemies when starting on realistic tank battles, very frustrating for sure.
one of the reason i prefer WT over WoT. the feeling of scale. the t-34-85 i play in WoT make me feel like i'm driving a car with gun, or the 20/30 mm guns are just toothpick. meanwhile the t-34-85 in WT gives me the "this feel like a tank" feeling more, and small caliber guns can pose a serious threat.
No, just no. I can say as well that i prefer WOT cuz tanks feel like tanks for me.but in warthunder it doesnt. Your point is like eating chicken with left or right hand(theres people who prefer right or left).
What ruined World of Tanks for me was the Matchmaking and the existence of Artillery. What ruined War Thunder for me was the grind. Both made by greedy corporations both games should burn to the ground. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
I'd love to see a game without the pay to win stuff but only pay to progress (i mean, i can accept that. You can pay for the top tier tanks but you can't pay for knowledge of the game) so they will keep earning money. A proper matchmaking system and two different gamemodes that separate the WWII tanks from the other tanks and without the stupid reparation cost system. It would be awesome.
I will add to what was said in the video that was covered but I did not think was quite fleshed out enough. That is the aiming systems. In WOT you have a massive "gun dispersion" that can cause much frustration for players by the shells not actually going where you want them while in WT it is a lot more tactile in the way you may not need to barrel stuff an enemy tank to get shots to hit where you want them to. This also extends to allowing players to act off of their knowledge of weak points and such. You can know the weak points on an enemy tank and be shooting at them but have none of the shells hit anywhere near that location in WOT while in WT the gun dispersion is accurate to what it would be, very small deviations from shell to shell shots that only affect sniping except for maybe lower tiers where cannon technology was still developing and at that it is marginal deviation. One other thing is going deeper into the respawn mechanic in WT having an Achilles heel that it does in turn allow enemies to spawn camp for easy kills in various modes. Even with the limited invulnerability protection it giives it is often not enough, and it is terrible in plane modes when it does happen (looking at you bf109's that immediately outclimb every other plane then spawn camp all game). It also happens if your team gets steam rolled in the tanks or if someone snuck past to a point where they can and this does not affect ship battles because it normally takes a lot of munitions to take a ship out unless they ammo rack you. In WOT there is no respawns so there are none of these issues. I would say that if you are fairly good at games and are competitive WT is more for you, but if you are worse at games WOT might be better because you will not just get killed from some cheeky spot that you were not aware of. WT does have the arcade mode which is very good for introducing people to the game in a more arcade like environment that may help people having a bad day not do too poorly and being able to at least do something. The monetary systems (dont feel like it was quite stressed enough), both games do have a tendency of having a tier or certain tanks that are very good for money grinding, where the rewards for doing stuff well outweighs the cost of the tanks and ammo. This is around the br 3-4 in WT for the most part but if there is a stronger tank in higher tier, due to the higher money multiplier it receives would make doing very well in a higher tier game much more rewarding than just grinding in the safer lower tiers, while WOT has a lot more of a money issue players have to contend with. This is not also mentioning the boosters you get for free from WT which honestly are better than the bonus for the first battle of the day for WOT. 10-30% boosters last between something like 5-20 missions which is better than getting all the bonus on one game but also you get to choose when to do that as well. I know for me it takes me 2-3 games to warm up in any game so I will never put a booster on immediately but this was forced upon me in WOT by not letting me choose when to get the stuff. One last thing is that WT may loose a lot of fun for the heavy tank enjoyers like myself because of the shift that is also happening in real life and that is one thing Missiles. Anti Tank Guided Missiles from planes, helicopters, light tanks, and missile carriers are VERY prevalent in Higher tier gameplay of which makes me hate all open maps and love towns and maps that have more cover and hate all very open maps. The missiles make long range kills extraordinarily easy for the one who launched the missile as they would IRL and often can find positions where they can kill you but you literally can not kill them from which is highly irritating. Something that is funny about this is that very low br tanks like 1.0 tanks can often find success in these higher br games like 8.0 because the light tanks are very easy to penetrate and the lower br tanks having armor piercing high explosive rounds makes kills on light tanks like the BMP very easy to accomplish. And the Hatred WOT players have for artillery is the equivalent for hating enemy CAS but there is more one can do against the CAS with spaa than go through the entire enemy team to get their artys and that only if they do not shot gun you.
A month ago I tried playing WT Mobile since I don't have a PC, this was my first bite of WT experience. At first I was overwhelmed by how difficult it is to kill the enemy, but once you learned where their weak spot is, it becomes enjoyable! The only downside of playing mobile version of WT is that you'll most likely to get a braindead teammates, it's kinda infuriating sometimes..
Well said! I also played world of tanks for 2 years with T-10 heavy tank. Then currently I played war thunder since 2020 with a 8.0 BR soviet tank (T-55)
I have played both, a lot. I played WoT way before WT, and it got me into WT. I have 14 t10s in WoT and many premiums I got for free. I love the game, mostly because I played it first. And it is fun, even if it's unrealistic. I also love WT and play it for it's realism (relative to WoT anyways), and for all of the accessories it allows you to use (msg, smoke grenades, etc.). WT also got me into Planes and sim. I play more WT than WoT now, but I love both games a lot.
i played wot so much i got basically every tank... i played trough the entire brittish tech tree in WT .... YOU NEEEED premium in wt while you dont really need it in wot, it will help a lot ... but its not necessairy such as in wt ... ALSO FUCK PLANES ... seriously fucking add ground only pls
It says something when I saw I could play WoT I downloaded it immediately but when I got in it felt different to how the ads made me think of it. So I downloaded WT & I got hooked in with the detail, arcade & realistic, and planes which I have fun for a long time not getting. Getting hook is important and WoT feeling less just made me not like it while WT has me playing and not wanting to spend any money but get new vehicles and look at them and learn.
people always complain about how long it takes to get to the top vehicles in these games but thats the just nature of them. I got used to it pretty quick and I don't mind taking a few days for one vehicle.
@@gamingkingdom1146 if you don’t play warthunder regularly it may take a month or two to get a vehicle (excluding helicopters) but if you end up playing it whenever you get the chance it will usually only take a solid 10-20 days (absolute maximum) to get any vehicle in the game. Helicopters though…. Please fucking kill me
WoTB has modes every once in a while, like uprising that when you die, you respawn with power ups, and gravity force that allows you to jump, its so fun! So I like to play WoTB on my iPad, but I like both WT and WoT. WoT was my childhood though.
I quit WoT in 2015 after grinding a new soviet AT branch only for it to get nerfed massively in the next update. It was not a surprise they even deleted a whole vehicle a couple updates later because they couldn't balance it, even though it was nerfed into oblivion already. After that I have started WT, played a bit, and threw it into the bin for reminding me of wasting my time on grinding through vehicle trees only for them to get removed. Seriously reconsidering returning to WT though, because it really seems like Gaijin cares about the actual experience of playing their games instead of the experience of paying each time something flashy comes out.
good video but some things at least on the wot side seemed under researched especially with the economy part. I at least do not think the economy is more forgiving in warthunder as you have to actually be a good player to make any money at all at the higher tiers, yes wot premium time is more expensive but is more commonly given away in my experience.
I played WoT since closed beta but left when premium ammo was released (it was getting incredibly toxic too) and have multiple tier 10 tanks (and some quite rare premiums like the Type 59), I started War Thunder while it was in beta and have a couple of rares like the Tu-2 and a LaGG (not near my PC so I can't recall which variant), I used to enjoy the game when it only went as far as late war, early jets but have lost interest as the grind just became too much. I play WoWS now but have never touched ships in War Thunder.
@@alextinica7914 It was taken off sale years ago, take this and the natural player loss through time and rarity becomes a thing. I concede the point if WG sold it since I quit playing.
idk if you care, but recent reworks make naval in WT not the worst anymore... the grind is not helicopter levels bad, but its close (in rp gain per match). The system for targeting is really nice plus module reworks were interesting. The ships themselves... not bad. Bluewater is a bit annoying with larger vessels pretty much always curb stomping in downtiers, and everything in coastal feels like glass cannons with rockets on them half the time... aside from the queue times, I suggest booting it up every once in a while. hope you find this useful
Ive been playing war thunder for a while, its all about the mindset, the game can be very fun but it also has a step learning curve, and can be frustrating, but once you learn where to shot and how to position yourself, its just a pleasure to play, also when you reach the level of not missing a single bomb its just so satisfying to do also always remember top tier ≠ fun tier
War Thunder made what World of Tanks cannot: COMBINED ARMS WARFARE. World of Tanks + World of Warships + World of Warplanes = War Thunder People hated War Thunder due to planes existing in that game. They can always go switch to World of Tanks but an OLD World of Tanks player who have seen it all would take one step further to War Thunder.
Now I am around 2 weeks playing war thunder realistic ground battle mode and really enjoy it so much. I can hide, sneak, flank, compensating parabolic curve and it feels so realistic. Now world of tank feels so silly to play.
My biggest complaint with WoT is the Aiming Reticle. I don’t like sitting still for 10 seconds and aiming carefully only for my round to miss because it decided to go to the right of the circle instead of the rest of it.
You buy the appropriate equipment for your tank, such as gun stabilizers and gun laying drive. You also invest in a good crew, and if you do that, that issue will no longer be an issue.
The original WT graphics was a lot sharper and clearer during BETA. Then some dumbass game-designer decided the whole battlefield had to be filled with smoke haze and sun effects. Original war thunder was beautiful.
Played both games as a kid, only reached mid tier on War thunder because the clunky physics specifically the random twitching, collision and paper-like feel of the Simulator engine for tanks turned my younger self off but I really loved the air battles but oppositely on World of Tanks, I loved the audiovisual feel of its arcadeness and that further down into the real end game stuff (way above tier 10s) I found Clan Wars where the extremely good players teach you the stuff you need in order to become a chad yourself and learn to basically turn World of Tank's flaws into your own advantage in entertainment. You also need an active clan or group to belong to in order to effectively participate in skirmishes and strongholds of which most if not all active clans require a good tier 10 of which you may need half a million credits cost per session. The good news though, that still is sustainable if you know how to gain credits effectively. The maximum map size isn't 1x1 on World of Tanks, there are Grand battles which are only accessible to tier 10. Needless to say, the fun experience starts at tier 9 for World of Tanks as Wargaming is prioritizing the newer players to reach tier 8, 9 and 10 real fast because they're the gems of the game compared to the footage you've brought are mostly tier 6s which the community considers a not so good tier to be in as it is either full of really new players, veterans who want to grind a tech tree line or those who play for credits in a low cost method
@@nikolajjankov4779 iirc its game engine comes from an airplane simulator hence the weird jankyness that comes from two touching elements... Simply because Planes don't usually collide other parts of their body other than their wheels, usually
What you are saying is utterly rubbish... are you trying to say that a guy who played Tier 8 and Tier 9 has no feel of how Tier 10 is in WoT? Who are you kidding... the maps are rubbish and small... totally imbalanced in case of some like Mines... what is there to learn after you know about some hot spots? All WoT games from Tier 8 to 10 are the same... the maps are small and imbalanced... the spotting and bush mechanics is totally fictional... a tank in the open cannot be seen if he has a high camo... the EBRs fly like formula1 race cars... the player base is divided in so many regional servers... the player base is dumb as hell... and the worst... WG keeps introducing overpowered premiums... now they have also started selling Tier 9 and Tier 10 premiums... they are rolling out new premium vehicles like toys... and why won't they... all they need to change is 4-6 parameters and create a new 2D cartoonish model... and the payer base is dumb enough to even go and purchase them... I was one too... lol Btw... I have the Vipera... Progetto... Bourrasque... Renegade... Scorpion G and the Obj 780... have grinded STB 1... and have tons of other premiums from Tier 6 to Tier9... and 5 skilled crew on few... and yeh... only after 1k games... I have 51% win rate with 1k average damage... that too mostly due to grinding from lower tiers to higher tiers... else the average damage cud have been more... The game is for dumb folks... there is no skill required... it's just two dimensional.. only for pew pew fans... WG has dumbed down the game to kids level... yeh only Oldies and Kids will enjoy it... I got bored after 1.5k games... my account name on NA server "_saklo_" Then I tried WarThunder... have not touched WoT since then... You folks have no idea what you are missing... try WarThunder... and see what a real Combined Battles game looks like... To cut you comment short... "I could not play WarThunder due to high skill cap... but could reach Top tier in WordOfTanks...so now I am playing WorldOfTanks".... LOL
as a wot player, i've learn how WT work with your video so tahnk you ! But to make an more accurate comparison, maybe you should had ask a WoT youtuber that would had explain with as much detail the WoT mecanics that you explain WT mecanics
You can feel otherwise but the ability to have or purchase a significantly more effecient and speedy crew in War Thunder is absolutely a pay to win aspect of it. 100% it is. A player with less time in the game can change a crew member faster than a tank can reload or repair a broken barrel before you can even flank. Same with someone who has 10x the amount of time that I have. Now, you can earn those things but dear god, even with premium it is extremely, extremely slow. I have played so much of the game, 2,000 hours, and I don't have a crew above rank 50 in ground. They cap out at 150 and I have like 60 crews. And that's with some occasional buffing with Gold Eagles. And not only that, but while the premium tanks being non-pay to win is the norm, there are absolutely exceptions. Some tanks are outright superior to worse tanks at the same BR. The German T-34 and KV-1C were both examples at one point, not to mention the fact that German tanks naturally don't face as many high powered guns, there's a significant benefit to having a T-34 or KV-1C on Germany that is never factored in. The average German tank does 130+mm of penetration where the average American and Russian tank in game at those BR's do 90-100mm of penetration. If nothing else, you're paying for a serious advantage, regardless of whether or not you and I know what to do against them. It doesn't change the fact that many players will be rolled by something like a KV-1C which has 100mm of armor almost everywhere, 1 reliable weak spot and an extremely good gun for it's BR while facing far fewer guns that can easily kill it. Especially in a down tier.
yes but crews are not that expensive i think it was like 25 euros for a fully upgraded crew and a bit less if you dont need some aspects like if you only play fighter aircraft you can skip defensive armament whitch is the most expensive part ^^
@@ZoeylaRose Oh, that's not as much as I thought but I just was making the point of it technically being a pay to win aspect. And it is in most ways because again I still don't have a crew above level 50 despite having over 1,000 hours in the game. That's also because I don't play one nation, I like to mix it up and play them all, but it's taking a very long time to rank up without opening up my wallet. And again, that does include me using some GE to get a crew up to speed with the other ones after buying/unlocking the crew. And occasionally just wanting to buff up the crew's abilities in one or two ways. I still don't have any above 50. In Aircraft that's not too abnormal but in ground they cap at 150 so there is still a ton of room to grow and that's not even including Naval skills. While some skills you can cap out fairly quickly like reloading and aiming, the repair and agility skill take for ever to fully cap and offer a pretty serious advantage. Also, while the 25 euro which I'd say is like 27 USD isn't too much by itself, it's extremely expensive if you factor in all the nations. As I said before, I must have at least 60 crews, maybe more, and that's a huge cost or a massive amount of time to cap them. But you are right that you can ignore some things in the crew skills which don't make much of a noticeable difference. But even if it was 10 euro per crew, that's a lot of money and is a big advantage. I just think they really shouldn't have made that part of the game, I think it hurts the ability for War Thunder to ever be a truly competitive game. You just don't know if you're facing someone with a huge advantage over you and it's also bad for new players who have to deal with significantly slower reloads at times and massively worse repair times. And you have to factor that into the fact that new players are learning as well and it makes for one very hostile experience for anyone looking to get into the game. Plus you have jerks who intentionally seal club as they say and you really can find the answer for why the game's player base has steadily dwindled. It's a shame, there is so much to love and appreciate about WT and I love the game but they just should have done some things differently or changed some things.
I've been playing WT since 2012, I see more and more of WOT players moving over. alot of my current friends who play WarThunder moved from WOT in their opinion the issue being the Monetization model of WOT. "its pay to win" as they said. SO I dipped my toes into WOT and tried a couple matches. and I then deleted it after. 🙄 WOT has alot of core issues and now I understand why people are leaving in droves and going to Warthunder. Sad to see WOT bleeding but Glad to see new faces in WarThunder
@@killdizzle You can sometimes blame Gaijin since you can get ghost shelled, your shell hits overlapping plates, and your round gets absorbed by a track/crew
I've been playing WoT since 2014, and WT since 2015; but I stopped playing War Thunder. I don't hate WT, and don't love WoT either, but since I play casually, War Thunder has nothing to offer for me. (especially not the grind)
Was gonna say if you love tanks, both are good. Wot for quick, mindless games, with more spectacular visuals and sound design. WT to really get the clanky tank feel and the more " real " experience

I do both. What I play depends on my mood. Not being a skilled person, with lesser equipment, War Thunder I'm more often a one-shoted without having even seen the opponent.
War Thunder falls into what is commonly called the simcade region for racing games, it falls between a game like WOT and DCS world (I play WT and DCS world). With racing games you have something like mario kart all the way on the arcade racer side of the spectrum, a game like Gran Turismo and Forza in the simcade region and Rfactor and ACC on the sim side.
As a semi long term player of both (tanks since early beta, war thunder for 3-4 years on and off). The tech tree requirements really turned me off of war thunder, having to buy several tanks of a single tier to go to the next. If I want to research German anti-air, I have to research, buy, and play (for the modification exp) at least 4 german lines. But in tanks you can just single file German Heavies, and not touch the tank destroyers
@@marcusborderlands6177 I understand that, but having to research almost every vehicle a nation has to get a top tier is just stupid. You can hit tier 10 in WoT in a month if you're decent,
@@TheCanadianGuy56 yeah, because wot is a one tank per match game... I got to 8.0 britian in war thunder in 3 weeks without premium, and that's literally higher than tier 10 in WoT. Remember, war thunder keeps going with tanks from the 2010's, and doesn't stop in the 60's like wot Also, top tier in war thunder isn't the only fun place like it is in WoT. WT is generally fun at almost all BR's and doesn't have B's like premium ammo (plus bushes etc don't matter if you just play arcade, which I still do even at top tier lol)
@@marcusborderlands6177 world of tanks doesn't stop at the 60s anymore bud, they have modern tanks, they instead separated it into a different gamemode so a tank from 2008 isn't at a BR of 4.0, fighting cold war era tanks.
@@TheCanadianGuy56 they finally did? Why can't I see em on the online tech trees? Also, if something is at 4.0, like the cold war btr with 14.5 mags, it's there for a reason. Generally war thunder is balanced to a point where being skilled is the biggest denominator in how good you do. Using the 76 jumbo at 7.3 is technically still viable, unlike the dumb numbers game of wot.
I much rather play War Thunder now instead of World of Tanks, which I used to play a lot. Mostly since the company completely ruined World of Tanks on console. Completely changed the way you research tanks, graphics got worse in my opinion, removed the good way to have skills for the commander/crew, and many more I'm able to complain about.
World of Tanks gives you unrealistic suffering
War Thunder gives you realistic suffering

This is brilliant. You've went into the important technical details that I did not know. Thank you!

Searching for weakspots is awesome as hell too.
ah yes the circle aka the reticle bruh same im wot player before but switched to WT
Both things have a good and a bad thing.
Hp:
Pro: You can use some of your hp to kill a low-hp tank
Con: Oneshots are only possible if you play a low-tier tank with a big caliber
Circle:
Pro: a lot of fun when you have a giantic circle but still hit
Con: you don't always hit
Also, a reason to like wot it because your shell don't drop, which just give more comfort.
@konigstiger9370 Yeah, WT is so much better, when you shoot with a KV2 point blank range at a M3 and you only get "critical hit" when the shell impact alone would have killed everybody inside that tincan.
@@ph8enix ot when you shoot from a 192mm FV gun on a 500 kg wheeled "tank" and you get a "armor not touched" lol
Great video, but I disagree on the point of WT engines sounding similar. You can tell the difference between countries and tank models from bottom to top tier pretty accurately with practice.
Yeah idk how he got at this weird conclusion
absolutely. hell the other day I could tell what country I was fighting just from the engine sounds. I guessed it was an AMX-30, and I was right. I do think it is a little harder to tell at lower tiers though.
Honestly the only difference I ever can tell is whether it’s a ifv light tank or medium/heavy tank
Indeed, often times you can tell what tank may be around the corner just from engine sound. Especially in high tiers, Leopard 2A6, Abram's and T80's have distinguishable sounds
I can tell what country the engine sound is from but not the actually tank
Another big difference is that WT is great for collectors, as you can keep all the vehicles you unlocked and bought. There are no garage slot limits forcing you to sell tanks you own.

I think the biggest strength of War Thunder is that it can be reasonably realistic while still offering enjoyable gameplay. It strikes a nice balance between an arcade PvP game and a simulator which I believe lots of people look for.
“Enjoyable gameplay”
Apart from gaijin being gaijin, I agree the game is mostly enjoyable even if you don’t pay to win, mostly...

I found WoT way more frustrating because of their MM system. This is from a week ago, when I was giving both games a trial and decided WT was better. NGL I even though i had several tier 10 tanks in WOT by the time I stopped playing I loved war thunder much more because of skill expression. Umm, seriously? Being constantly uptiered form the 1.3 onwards and facong tanks you can not scratch or see whule being oneshotted across the map is fun and not frustrating? for me the biggest thing with WT why i perfer it to WOT is how research is handled, in WOT you can only research the next tank with the pervous tank, where with WT you can use what ever tank you have, with the pervous tank just getting a bonus to the research. so if there is a horid tank you dont want to play you dont have to
Still a garbage system to what WT used to have. My favorite thing about WT early on was that you'd research an *entire row* of vehicles for every tier you advanced. They changed the progression system in WT years ago to make it a hundred times slower.
You mean the free EXP?
@@Correction_Guy free exp is normally locked to a tank you need premium currency to get it off, WoT you do get some free exp in normal games but it isnt like how WT handles it, basicly with WT you can reseach any vehicle with any vehicle of that type (tanks for tanks, planes for planes), with efficency brackets
@@nitebones1 Free EXP in WoT is like a little extra EXP to research critical module of a tanks that you will really need for F2P.

God fucking damn it give him a medal.

we did get drones recently
As if people need encouragement for spaa I'm honestly surprised at how many ww2 ostwind crews there are in wt half the time I die it's either a panther, tiger, or ostwind

I mean you can one shot in WoT too, just get the right tanks, but I can understand. Even tho its frustrating to get one shot, so that can be tilting.
Very well said and put together. I’ve played both myself as well and I will have to agree that the realism is what drew me to WT and leave WOT.
Blitz with muffin

Yet I like not having to face OP BS paper tanks anymore, nor deal with the power creep.
@@Tigerman7warfighter fully agreed
the nature of WOT beeing more arcade makes it more dynamic and adds complex teamplay. if one or two guys in your team suck, the whole team has to deal with it, so gaining map control and thinking two steps in front is kinda complicated. knowing your tank, your role on the battlefield and how to act ist mandatory. the no respawn policy, the compected maps and faster gameplay make it more competative, while more unrealistic at the same time
faster gameplay?
Yes, pros in WoT can grind a tier 10 tank in 24h.

This video plays more like an ad for War Thunder than an objective comparison.
WT appeals to me more because of the aircraft I can use with the tanks nothing is more satisfying than using something like an F-4E to drop a line of bombs clearing the way for friendly forces
On my experience economy in War Thunder is so bad you can reach a point where you can't play your tank because you have no silver lions to repair it
But here's the neat part: you can play another tank and make money, while still researching the next tank
If you're doing bad in a certain tank in WoT you're stuck playing it no matter what, unless you have enough free exp, but that might work once, maybe twice, especially at higher tiers.
Then play a different tank until you have the money.....
Yes, indeed. That's why they have the Reserve tanks that don't cost silver lions to repair. I stopped playing the US T95 because of the repairing costs. Now I play way much more the tier 1 with reserves and have so much silver lions to spare that I almost don't care anymore about repairing costs.

Still, a solid video, I learned few things.
I assume the OP is mostly using fighter jets, else he wouldn't talk about realism or simulator modes in WT.

War Thunder Just Feels Better To Play.

If you turn off your engine to keep quiet the electric battery of the tank starts draining (if it has one) and if it drains completely the turret has to be hand cranked making it turn a lot slower (this also happens if your engine gets destroyed)
Engine sound recognition is hard however, as in you need to listen to them for a good while before being able to differentiate them.

These are the things i couldnt live without
P.S. Its definitely still a huge grind to top tier, but dont rush it. Try to enjoy all the vehicles from mid and low tiers and you'll have a great time
The almost nonexistent RNG in WT is not true, it has indeed a lot, but it is more easily avoided if you play right
Same for me.

I loved this detail!

one of the reason i prefer WT over WoT. the feeling of scale. the t-34-85 i play in WoT make me feel like i'm driving a car with gun, or the 20/30 mm guns are just toothpick. meanwhile the t-34-85 in WT gives me the "this feel like a tank" feeling more, and small caliber guns can pose a serious threat.
No, just no. I can say as well that i prefer WOT cuz tanks feel like tanks for me.but in warthunder it doesnt.
Your point is like eating chicken with left or right hand(theres people who prefer right or left).
both of them have one thing in common
being able to drain your sanity
What ruined World of Tanks for me was the Matchmaking and the existence of Artillery. What ruined War Thunder for me was the grind.
Both made by greedy corporations both games should burn to the ground.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Imagine a world where both companies actually cared for the people who played them.
He did say about moving making it near impossible to hit but on some tanks the full aim in is still atrocious

War Thunder made what World of Tanks cannot:

World of Tanks + World of Warships + World of Warplanes = War Thunder
People hated War Thunder due to planes existing in that game. They can always go switch to World of Tanks but an OLD World of Tanks player who have seen it all would take one step further to War Thunder.

My biggest complaint with WoT is the Aiming Reticle. I don’t like sitting still for 10 seconds and aiming carefully only for my round to miss because it decided to go to the right of the circle instead of the rest of it.
The "RNG" of WoT is there to push players to invest in their Cash-Cow Premiums. Or better said, it is overall a Cash-Cow game!

but oppositely on World of Tanks, I loved the audiovisual feel of its arcadeness and that further down into the real end game stuff (way above tier 10s) I found Clan Wars where the extremely good players teach you the stuff you need in order to become a chad yourself and learn to basically turn World of Tank's flaws into your own advantage in entertainment.
Idk only issue that made me stop playing WT is that the whole gaming expirience felt clunky af

@@avisal3645 no, its a fact
I was one too... lol
Btw...
I got bored after 1.5k games... my account name on NA server "_saklo_"
Then I tried WarThunder... have not touched WoT since then...
If you one time join war thunder, you will have to play it forewer. You can hate it, but still snail will be pulling yours strings to play.
WOT has alot of core issues and now I understand why people are leaving in droves and going to Warthunder.
Forgiving is différent then accesible

Cant see the enemy? Too bad, get better
Planes keep killing you? Too bad, get better
Ohh... you like both? Oh gee... i hope you find peace one day...
Wt just isn’t for me I play dcs or squad when I want realistic I play wot when I want to have fun with friends
I mean, considering in wt you have multiple spawns, bringing in only anti air hurts the whole team, so it's there to discourage one and done spawns
Remember, war thunder keeps going with tanks from the 2010's, and doesn't stop in the 60's like wot
Also, top tier in war thunder isn't the only fun place like it is in WoT.
Been wanting to dive into one of these now that I have a proper setup and looks like War Thunder is the no brainer! Thanks, subbed
It’s all about what you want I think that’s what people are forgetting people can play whatever they want
