Crunchyroll has lost my respect. They dropped the ball with Priconne and I can't forgive them for dropping an absolute gacha pillar. Priconne prints money, why did they stop publishing it!? How CyGames allows their great games to taken like this is strange first Dragalia Lost and Nintendo and now Priconne with Crunchyroll?
3/10 maybe. I like the bits of extra character interactions that you don’t get out of the anime plus the Hololive collaborations but it’s not a good gacha game.

1400 dollars to guarantee a limited character? In hoyo games that is nearly enough to guarantee a max dupe limited character. And while I love them, they are considered among the worst in how much it costs. Holy crap.

Yeah I’ve had other games come up since so many new games had to be squeezed in haha. I do have it downloaded though and I’ve started it recently!
Ah, btw the tutorial is known to be bad (like their previous games), thus its better to watch esgoo's tutorial. Yeah, I know it's bad to recommend a different TH-camr's video, but some people I know finally understood the mechanics till they watched that video.
RIP Priconne Global. Crunchyroll never did care for you as much as your playerbase did
As much as I like the series, it's crunchyroll and they destroyed priconne global, no forgiveness.
I do wish it was published by someone else but that aside, this is a game you play for the story, just turn your brain off first and enjoy what you can. It's all written by the author himself as supplementary content that as I understand is canon to the series. What I've played of the main story was ripped from the anime, I'd say the side stories and events are better told, honestly he should've just made side story novels instead of working on a gacha. Also it being a bit of a dating sim is kinda funny since the mc stays in character as the absolute madlad he is the whole time
But honestly outside of that, the character models are okay, the artwork is top stuff, everything else is mid at best. I did end up dropping it just because there's much better things to play out there.
Yeah, as I actually said to someone else, I feel like these "Gacha games adapted from Anime series" really only target the fans of the series they were adapted from, not because they're great games, but because they expand on the world that players love. Which works for fans of the series, but from an outsider perspective, they're always seen as lacking. It's a shame, because if they were more feature-rich, they could be a lot better!
I tried this because I love the anime. But couldn’t even get a decent Waifu after playing a week. I wanted Alpha at least!

I have to clarify something, the game is not made by Crunchyroll. It's made by Aiming Inc. As far as I'm aware Crunchy just distributes the game for the most part, apparently whaling is slightly more expensive on the EN servers though. Another thing, the game is truly good for the lore of the The Eminence in Shadow franchise! But yeah thats about all the good things about it. There is a few canon portions of the game which I would say has some good writing, but the canon parts are just Seven Shadows Chronicles (slugs on at the start but the later chapters are better) and the few auxiliary chapter events (probably the best written part). The game is **s otherwise.
Using Auto is not an option for a lot of the proper endgame content, I say this as a day 1 F2P for the game. Armageddon (monthly guild thing where you sit for an hour for 3 days beating up people and bosses) realm bosses (the important boss) can often require specific teams, but thats on the harder end, they can require you to get that months Shadow Festival character. And World Tree is basically whale center, but you can clear some of it as a F2P.
Also, skill levels are gained from the character-specific gear. Which requires a bit of RNG to get good stuff on the gear. You cant upgrade them otherwise. (Well you can get 3 levels from raising bond up to level 20.) Also also, the experience on JP is just way better. You would get way more codes and shit from the official JP discord. EN server basically never gets shit, except for a few rare times like Black Friday when they made a bit of an oopsie.

Appreciate the thorough comment! Honestly, I think the game probably appeals to fans of the franchise as most Anime adapted Gacha do, but for players with no connection to the source material - a lot of Gacha gamers, that likely isn’t the case so a broader appeal might’ve been better for us.
@StixPlayx Yeah it's definitely more for fans... That said I know many fellow fans of mine arent too big fans either. Balance has basically been nonexistent and the problem has gotten worse.
I know whales both on the JP and EN side havent been all too happy. I hear the korean version already got shut down too.
In all honesty I doubt the game will last for anything more than a year from now (and that goes for the story content too, it seems the game is gearing up to finish things up. And Apocrypha is basically just a device to buy time for that). I also heard Aiming itself went into the red, and their other games arent great either from what I've been told.
That said the Seven Shadows Chronicles does have a biweekly manga. Which is fun.

Eminence in shadow is a hidden gem, and I love the series a lot. Unfortunately, there’s zero denying that the gacha game release is just nothing but an empty shell for personal character interactions and somewhat unique plots exclusive to the game.
Gameplay wise, it’s garbage, borderline basic. Zero cognitive skills required, it’s similar to those half-assed Ad campaigns for games that just hits and leaves within a week. There’s nothing unique about it, auto feature is pretty much the red flag of the century. If you aren’t catching on, I didn’t say anything about the substance of the game, that’s because there is nothing to be said at all.
To the story/character interactions it’s sorta decent. I like how they empathised on the “unique and special plotlines” only available to the game (they even made an animated op to hype it up, which is pretty cool ig) the animations are pretty cute and the va did well. It’s just alright.
The gacha, as mentioned is just, horrific .Bad chances, lack of resources to even get chances. It’s overall a shitty experience for anyone who isn’t a hardcore gacha fan, even then it’s still worse than expected.
As much as I enjoy eminence In shadow as a light Noval and anime series, I’m not gonna sugarcoat a shitty boring gacha game.
Tldr: play for the story and character, nothing more.

I will never understand the concept of paid gem and free gems, they literally force you to pay for exclusivity.
I'm a huge fan of TEIS and i did play the game. Quit after about a year and just watch the original stories on youtube.

So, if you pull a character and spent 100 pulls and didn't get it. You options is to buy the BiS Weapon (30 shards, if available) or let is expire and deleted ಠ_ಠ
Pity doesn't carryover.
So If you have 100 last banner, it is wipe clean next banner.
So, yeah it sucks unless you save 200 pulls.
I like how the moment you were talking about what we'd be better off doing while discussing the story i got an ad for HSR bc honestly, yeah exactly that. We'd be better off playing HSR or any of Hoyo's games. At least they know how to tell their stories.

As an eminence in shadow player, this certainly holds a lot of truth would love to be able to properly react to this if possible! Not that big but, certainly could give a more in depth view since I've played this game for a about a year approximately!(started about 2 years ago during early release had to drop it due to the game being laggy on phone which is still prevalent at this moment only until recently when they dropped it on PC and steam did I give it another go).
Definitely think its quite a fair take! Its about 700 usd last I checked for the guaranteed character. Which isn't necessarily crazy (albeit I do believe myself its overpriced). Most of us that play have to either go all in and get not only the character itself but the weapon as well which is another 30 pulls on top of the 200 on top of the guaranteed. If you wanna ensure you get the character AND the weapon its about 64,400 (which I'm not saying is good) just some more info that I think isn't quite entirely understood from an early player perspective.
Overall if you're curious about my rating its about 6.5 out of 10, enjoyable has its annoying moments. Gacha is kinda crazy as always its a big if you'll get a character its not good that is has no early pity system or mileage however, its chronicles is really where the story is at I do personally think they did drop the main story and if you just wanna play the game its bad and cuts out parts of content and sometimes even changes voice lines as well as subtitles of certain key moments.

Cunchyroll is such a shame nowadays. It was great back in the days, but now, I avoid anything that has the mention "Crunchyroll". You know it's shit if they put their logo on it.

As far as a game? Its not the best by far.
For EIS fans? Its a good one IMO.
Im a huge nerd for EIS and I played it for a while. Though I quickly had raid shadow legends flashbacks and asked myself if this was a good use of my time... Then quit.
I think its a fun gacha but its not ground breaking or anything. The real meat and potatoes is the extended lore and story. The animations and voicelines in combat werent bad either.

I agree with almost everything but the difficulty is 7 to 8/10 cause of the bosses of world tree, events and the pvp teams that are INSANELY strong

I been playing this game for a year and a bit (still playing) and yeah this gacha aint the best but as a EIS enjoyer I really like the game. I whaled hard on this game cause I'm a waifu collector and maybe game will get EOS some time down the line but hey I enjoy my time xD. Apart from that only thing keeping me in this game is the guild wars (armaggedon) is fun being in a discord with a bunch of guildmates that enjoy the game and we come together every month to fight whatever boss and strategize which teams are the most effective Overall, i'll give this game a 6/10 as EIS enjoyer, but if i compared it to my other gachas probs a 3/10.

I play this game often and I’ll be 100% honest if you just like EIS like a lot a lot I’d say never play this but if you never spend money on it like I don’t cuz it’s definitely not worth it and just play it completely F2P you might enjoy it idk but seriously find something else unless you’re just that much of a fan like myself

On a positive note, Eminence in Shadow is a quality “trash” anime. It’s so stupid it’s actually good. I do recommend people watch it. Don’t take it seriously though, it’s a joke.
