Super dangerous pass rusher. Power just isn't his game so hopefully he can figure that out to avoid struggling against elite tackles. Brett Kollmann has a good video from today that breaks down his game
The best thing that ever happened to PFT Live is Chris Simms. But Florio makes it almost unwatchable. His shrill voice and his grievances stuff are just embarrassing. Florio needs a show like Crossfire. He is not a journalist and not a good analyst. He's terrible. Chris doesn’t realize that Tyree Wilson was the projection, Will Anderson had great tape, great production, and just solid athletic numbers. For all the talk in this episode, he seems to have totally missed that lesson.

Miller has 33.5 inch arms so they are an inch longer than Chops. Miller ran 4.53 and Chop 4.48 so Chop is faster. Millers 10 yard split was 1.62 Chops was significantly better at 1.54. Chops hands are an inch bigger than Vonns. Millers 20 yard shuttle time was elite at 4.06 and Chops was still a dam good 4.25 and Millers broad jump was 126’’ and Chops was 128’’. Both elite. Talking about the top sack artists last 3 years, the ones that weren't 1st rounders have (almost - hendrickson/judon) played with other great great rushers. Those ones doing it "alone" deserve maybe more respect?
Absolutely. Danielle Hunter had no one to help him the first half of last season. The 2nd half, depth rotational players improved and showed up more, but they were no where near Everson Griffen level, who Hunter played with the first half of his career. Texans got themselves a good one. (Side note, Hunter only had 3 sacks his last year at LSU, which is why he dropped to round 3, but that was due to how LSU used him.)
Y'all skipped over Trey Hendrickson a ton of times. He was second in sacks last year and 5th last three years combined, also wasn't a first rounder and didn't break out until year 4

(Speaking about Latu) So he had his most productive year against the Pac-12 at its peak and that somehow could be construed as a bad thing. 🤣
I was wanting for this! That whole will Anderson jr. Is the 5th best edge rusher didn't age well huh chris?😅. I thought it was a ridiculous take in the first place smh. He was clearly the best defensive player the country for 2 straight years at alabama and it wasn't even close. How did miss that? What tape were you watching. 8 see lesson was learned by having dallas turner at 1# My favorite player in this draft.
Again Trey Hendrickson has 32 inch arms. Carl Lawson is a pretty dam good pass rusher and he has 31.5 inch arms. But these 2 guys also have other traits that makes up for the shorter arms. Hendrickson is 6’4’’ 270 so he has the size and he is fast to at 4.63. Lawson is barely 6’2’’ 265 so he has size and extreme almost freakish strength. He did 35 reps on the bench press.
Dallas Turner is a 3rd pick at best. You're doing him a disservice of you pick him before that. He probably needs to be a backup to start... and he needs a while to develop. He also needs to go into a very favorable situation that can utilize his talents. He has no rush moves. He's all length and speed. His power is not there. He's gonna be blanked a lot.
Lol measurables and measurements are not always an indicator of potential. Example. Trey Hendrickson is a top 5 pass rusher in football. He is a 3 time Pro Bowler and made the PFWA 1st team All Pro last year. He was second in the league in sacks last year and in 2020. How long do you think his arms are? 32 inches. Yes 32 inches. Not 32 point something but 32. Example 2. Tee Higgins I believe everyone would agree is a dam good WR who makes some freaky plays and literally any team in the league would love to have him. And they can but it will cost them because the Bengals give nothing away. Anyway at the Combine Tee ran A 4.59 and had only a 31 inch vertical and he is 6’4’’ 220 but weighed 216 when he was tested. Not exactly elite number right. The Bengals saw a star player and that’s what he is. They looked past that barely adequate 40 time. Tee grew into a better player. He was good from day one though so makes no mistake about it. He had 908 yards and 6tds as a 21 year old rookie.
Kwity Paye's arm length is 33 inches, so Simms is factually incorrect For reference, that is the same as Nick Bosa and longer than Aidan Hutchinson and Micah Parsons Maybe Paye just isn't as good a player, regardless of arm length
Simms ignored all those pass rush win rates, which PFF puts out there. Will Anderson produced big time numbers in the best case conference. I love Simms QB analysis, but his DE takes are horrible. He was also wrong about Kayvon Thibedaeux. Just think he needs to realize that consensus is usually right. Once in a while a guy slips on DE, but usually the league gets it right.
You don't want your 1st round edge prospect being labeled with "high motor" or "high effort", usually that means this guy lacks physical, athletic traits
I'm 100 percent sure simms didn't watch any of these guys play. He's using someone else's notes. You can tell by the way he's describing these players. The evaluations are way off.
Should someone OFF THE FIELD, outside the stadium, and in a NEW YORK OFFICE.... make live game-time decisions that loses my year-long savings bet on my team's biggest game, based on a close call. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. ... Why not have the on-field judge look at the replay on a tablet (we have the technology! show the onfield judge the evidence) , don't "assist" by commanding a reversed call. The on-field judge should be deciding every play. Every play. But, heck, the NFL doesnt even make it a full-time job!!! Head refs should not be a p/t job! THAT is the absurdity here. Someone tell Florio.
I honestly don’t get the hype on Jared verse. To me he’s a guy built like a basketball player but was too short to play. So he put on weight to play football. To me he’s a Leonard Floyd. Smaller DE body type. Not naturally large but lanky. In 4 years he’s probably gonna be a journeyman pass rusher that contenders sign up one year deals for 8-10 million. Imo that’s not someone you draft on the top or middle of the first. If you draft a pass rusher that high you want that guy to be someone who doesn’t get out of your building because you’re locking him up for 25 mil a year. I see him as a guy who is versatile but will probably give you 4-7 sacks a year.
And using Leonard Floyd as an example isn't great. Sure his early career numbers are not impressive, and certainly smelled like a bust, especially in Chicago, but once he started playing on one year deals on different teams his numbers have gone up substantially. And he has almost zero games missed from injury. That strikes me as better than "journeyman."
@@MrBeckPJ I’m not saying Leonard Floyd is a bust but objectively he wasn’t worth the draft slot he was drafted at. And if he’s worth keeping he would be signed to 3-4 year deals at 20 plus million. People don’t let high quality pass rusher walk out the door. Hence journeyman. Not a bad player. Still worth 8-10 million because it’s a premium position. But you don’t draft that type of player top 15. You draft him late first to second ish because of raw traits. Get 4 years out of him. Develop him. If he’s a superstar you sign him big. If he’s a tweener in value IE 4-6 sacks you either retain him on a smaller short deal or you let him walk. That’s how I see verse. Hence why I prefer a different plsyer because he’s being higher then bottom of first.
@@DrRobGilles yeah, your reasoning makes sense. I looked up Floyd's sack average over the last 3 years (10.33), which I'd say is better than "journeyman" level, but I agree that it sure isn't worth a top 15 pick. Bottom of the first as a ceiling, or more likely the 2nd round feels like the better value for that sort of production. And frankly, I haven't seen much of Verse outside of highlights, so maybe the comparison is appropriate, I'm not equipped to judge that.
@@MrBeckPJ I think we’re kind of on the same page. Verse is a little bit bigger in stature and overall strength which makes me think he will be more hybrid than pure wreck the game pass rusher with 12 or more sacks per year. Imo He may have 1 out of 4 years where he gets above 12. Floyd did benefit from system too. He wasn’t asked to play 3 downs every week all game plus defend the run. Plus designed stunts etc. so his numbers are def slightly deceptive. He was one of many pass rushers teams often threw at you.
Dallas Turners measurables are BETTER than Von Millers were. They are both 6’3’’ and around 250 lbs. Vons arms are 33 1/2’’ and Turners are 34 3/8’’ and again Turner is quite a bit faster than Miller. Millers vertical was 37’’ which is real good. But not as good as Turners 40.5’’. Turners broad jump was 1 inch longer than Millers. But you a splitting hairs there. So basically the same size and Turner is faster and more athletic than the great Von Miller.
Anderson was amazing in college.... Simms makes it sound like.he was meh and went on to be great just by losing weight. Simms goes full on with traits and size and speed at edge. People who are less size and speed but produce arent hus style. Same with this year.
if anything he would have thoughts about the big boys in the middle, i don’t see any LT or Derrick Thomas’ in todays game😂 once they’re hanging around or over 300
I watch all your stuff Chris and respect your opinion but last year you were dead wrong on Myles Murphy the edge out of Clemson. He played for the Bengals now. You said he wasn’t that strong and at the combine he did 25 reps in the bench press. Your number 1 guy last year Tyree Wilson did 23 your number 2 Lucas Van Ness did 17 and McDonald and Anderson didn’t even do the bench press which should tell you a lot about them. Murphy was not drafted to start day one. He was a rotation player last year. He was the #5 Edge on the Bengals depth chart. The 2 starters Hubbard and Hendrickson filled by Joseph Ossai and Cam Sample. He played about 260 snaps last year and he had 20 tackles 3 sacks and 2 tackles for a loss. Tyree Wilson was a starter. All year and he had a grand total of 3.5 sacks. Van Ness was a starter and he had 4 sacks. McDonald was a rotational guy and he had 3 sacks as well. You said you didn’t like Murphys body. The kid is 6’5’’ 275 and ran a 4.51 and he has 33.75 inch arms. He does have small hands but that’s the only thing you have to zonk. And Will Anderson had 7 sacks. As a starter. If Murphy had been a starter last year he would have had 7-10 sacks. You will see this year he is going to break 400 snaps this year because we have some good edge players in Cincinnati. Look for Joseph Ossai to take off this year. I’m just hoping we will be able to retain him because this is a contact year. Look for Ossai to go off thru year. He will Probably have around 9 sacks. Maybe more.

26:08 I’m sorry but ayooo, sounds like he’s talking to a girl at the bar lmao
Kwity Paye's arm length is 33 inches, so Simms is factually incorrect
For reference, that is the same as Nick Bosa and longer than Aidan Hutchinson and Micah Parsons
Maybe Paye just isn't as good a player, regardless of arm length
Very few farmers encounter a diamond in their haystacks. Maybe in South Africa though? 😂
Maaan, if only if Chop had a pass rush plan, i could see him falling out of the 1st. In the 3rd round, I'd have to take a swing at him.
Jared ran a 4.6 that’s good speed at defensive end
After the bad experience the Falcons had with another Bruins edge rusher (Takk McKinley), So they will most probably select the dude from Alabama
The U Mas Tackle is a MUMMMMY
You don't want your 1st round edge prospect being labeled with "high motor" or "high effort", usually that means this guy lacks physical, athletic traits
Chris Jones was a 2nd round pick
hoping Latu is there at 22
I'm 100 percent sure simms didn't watch any of these guys play. He's using someone else's notes. You can tell by the way he's describing these players. The evaluations are way off.
Agreed. Saying that Verse plays smaller and with less strength than Latu and Turner is certainly an original take.
Right!?
Why does Chris want BBL edge rushers
TORQUE
Lol bad take! The body types aren't even the same. Use Google and you can clearly see
And using Leonard Floyd as an example isn't great.
31reps at the combine he’s stronger then latu and turner
Dallas Turners measurables are BETTER than Von Millers were. They are both 6’3’’ and around 250 lbs. Vons arms are 33 1/2’’ and Turners are 34 3/8’’ and again Turner is quite a bit faster than Miller. Millers vertical was 37’’ which is real good. But not as good as Turners 40.5’’. Turners broad jump was 1 inch longer than Millers. But you a splitting hairs there. So basically the same size and Turner is faster and more athletic than the great Von Miller.
Now talk about their 3 cones and 20 yard shuttles...y'know the two metrics that actually matter for edge rushers
God it just has to be Ahmed huh? Someone that offers notbing to this production other than useless stats and incessant unfunny jokes
CT got it stop playin Chris. I love New York and Jersey but the pizza in CT is fire. New York food is def overhyped thts a fact
Anderson was amazing in college.... Simms makes it sound like.he was meh and went on to be great just by losing weight. Simms goes full on with traits and size and speed at edge. People who are less size and speed but produce arent hus style. Same with this year.
Chris jones was not a 1st rounder
Ex-QB Simms don't want to know Edges! He is still haunted by them :)
if anything he would have thoughts about the big boys in the middle, i don’t see any LT or Derrick Thomas’ in todays game😂 once they’re hanging around or over 300
I’m sorry.. 40 lbs of muscle in a year ?
BRANDON DORLUS 🦆🦆🦆 You’ll soon learn.
The edge talk in the beginning sheds light on simms poor scouting skills.
Chris gets the poops 💩 💩 💩 😮😮 😯 😯 😂😂😂😂
He will
Probably have around 9 sacks. Maybe more.
“put on 40lbs of muscle during the pandemic”
lol, im sure he did, wasnt natural tho
Gosh Simms had such bad take 2023 Edge class
Jared Verse talks a lot of $hit too!
Remember when he was wrong about Will Anderson Junior ? lol clown 🤡
Did you watch the video 🤡?
what have you done since gaining consciousness? rubbed a few out and played some madden?
What did Chris think about Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, CJ Stroud, Kennith Walker, DLions RB last year, Justin Jefferson, Jamaar Chase, Zay Jones, Christian Watson, Linderbaum, CHumphrey, Nick Bolton, Trent McDuffie, Leo Chenal, Sam Leporta, Travis Eitienne, Devonte Smith, Jaylen Waddle, Kyle Pitts, Penne Sewell, Christian Darrisaw, Chase Young, Andrew Thomas, Ceedee Lamb, Jerry Judy, Patrick Queen, Antwon WinfieldJr, you getting the point any position any school any name

he’s wiffed hard on about 50 all pro’s in 5 years
