People talk about Donald and when they talk about the stout disruptive 3 techs, nobody ever mentions Geno Atkins. Dude retired like 4 years ago, 8x Pro bowler, and 3x all pro, and nobody ever mentions the guy. He just left the league. Byron Murphy is basically a clone of him.
Nice point! There’s a few reasons for this. First, it goes to show how amazing and dominant Aaron Donald was. It’s like speaking about QB play in the postseason and not mentioning Brady. He was truly one of a kind. Secondly, something that comes along with the nature of the position is being underrated or undervalued among those who do not have an eye for the position. Geno was an extreme disrupter and very talented. However, even in his prime, much of the public attention went to Carlos Dunlap, another good DL, but wasn’t nearly as dominant as Atkins. So, the nature of the position and Donald’s greatness can, unfortunately, lead to many greats being forgotten as time passes.
simms is just better with younger generation. florio is just better with older generation... but for the picks, simms and florio are pretty hilarious together.
Really want Murphy II for the Seahawks, no idea if he’s MacDonald’s type at DT though. Hearing Simms say DeWayne Carter is like Madubuike makes me wonder if maybe we go for him instead, but after the 1st round. Screw it I like 1 through 4 😂
I massively appreciate the Darius Robinson love. I think he's an excellent and deeply underrated player. But I think you're selling Newton so wildly short -- yes, you have him in the 1st, but I do not understand how you watch this dude's tape set against Carter's and end up with them in this order. He's the best pass rusher in this group; I'm open to Murphy being higher on the list, because they are both great players, but to me, it's clearly Newton. He also doesn't have anywhere near the length to play 5 tech in the NFL; true 3-tech player. He's taller than Murphy, but Murphy is longer, and both guys are about 300 pounds even. He's not "push the pocket guy", lol, he is a quick, penetrating player with EASILY the best hands in the class with much better bend than you're giving him credit for. Yes, he can 2-gap, but double teams will move him at times because even though he's super powerful, he's not all that big. Characterizing him as stiff or as a "hold your ground" player vs. a disruptor is spurious! Lol. We shall see.
Strongly agree on Robinson. I think he plays bigger than 285 as well. And respectfully, I think he uses his hands really well as a run defender, and he has flashed some pretty impressive swim and arm-over pass rush moves. I do see this guy similarly though. Underrated player I expect the league to like more than the draftniks.
Chris Simms is right. Because most teams in the NFL have really good WR'S, RB's. Edge Rushers. CB's. LT"s and RT's and CT's will go first in the first Round of the Draft.
You guys are massively overrating Jalen Carter's rookie season. He was a bust in his rookie year compared to as high as he was drafted. Hopefully he'll get better, but he did not do it in his rookie season.🤷🏽♂️
I have to ask (probably wont' get a response) but I don't see "incredible get off" by Darius Robinson. His run at the Combine was 1.75 10 yard split and 4.95 (compare, not as good a player but the athleticism, say, of Michael Hall - at 6'2, 299, ran a 1.68 split, 4.75 40). It always scares me when the athleticism in quickness is not there.
85% of the time I’m usually a Simms guy on his rankings but he’s so far off from what scouts are saying about Carter and Robinson that I might bet he’s wrong on this
Sweat is another jordan davis. And I don't know what you're smoking to have jenkins ahead of newton & fiske. Jenkins is a 2down d-lineman & is slow off the ball
@@Tone22845 I don’t know what you’re smoking because I don’t have Jenkins ahead of Fiske. Clearly says Jenkins is 4th on the list. Also Newton is a bit overrated.

You have Johnny Newton as number 4??!! Murphy or Newton should be at number 1 and the other at number 2. You realize that Newton was 1st team All American right? Robinson and Carter were not. Not even close. MY top 5 and only tier 1 players are 1. Newton 2. Murphy 3. Dewayne Carter 4. Mekhi Wingo 5. Maason Smith. I like the guy Fiske from Florida State but he is already 24 years old. He will turn 25 during his rookie year. Yea that by itself would take him off my board. Unless he drops to round 5 and then I would get him but I don’t think he does. Newton, Murphy, Smith are all 21 and will turn 22 during there 1st year. Wingo is still only 20 years old. He turns 21 later this month lol. Carter is 23 which is on the borderline. He turns 24 in December. I can live with that but not 25.
You do know that there are plenty of college all-americans who don't amount to anything in the NFL? And also plenty of non-all-americans who are all-pros.
@tylerholt6828 Few things: 1. I didn't say I knew more about football, I said I think I watched more tape on this DT class. 2. He got this job in large part because he's a former NFL QB, and if you're not familiar with that specific pipeline...you're one of one among football fans. 3. Simms has been wrong a ton. He's had his hits, and I like a lot of his takes, but there's absolutely nothing that would indicate he is the final word on talent evals. 4. Simms is a former QB, I am a former DL, and while I played D3, I know the game better than I played it. I trust my own eyes when it comes to watching tape. And 5. Like most people, I went a different route with my professional life, and have never attempted to make football content. Let's not pretend like prominence in this game is a pure meritocracy. But regardless of all that, like I said -- we will see.
@tylerholt6828 You know that tape is all over YT, correct? It's actually super easy to find cut ups of OL vs DL, as well as individual players. Not highlights. Every play from entire games. I've watched 4 games of Murphy, 6 of Newton, 5 of Carter, 5 of Robinson. So let's be honest, you don't know what you're talking about. I watch the tape and have done for years. Next time, try and put in a minimal amount of research before running your mouth -- figuratively of course. Now, as for " If you could make millions of dollars a year watching and analyzing football, you would do it in a heartbeat." If I were a former NFL QB, with the inclination and an easy-in, I'd be doing it. But you might know that the market for amateur draft evals is massively oversaturated, and there are lots of guys doing a great job who aren't making millions -- or maybe you don't know! You don't seem to do much thinking. You might also know that you don't start off making millions, you gotta grind to make a name. Some of us have dependents to support and loans to pay back, doesn't leave much time for that kind of thing. It's not a lotto ticket, unless of course you're a former player with some charisma and a famous dad!
@tylerholt6828 And yea "The only people with the final word are the teams picking the players"...no sht man, lol. This is a draft media channel where people watch one man speculate. Similar stuff is all over the internet. It's all opinion. Which is why even the magical media savants making "millions of dollars" (lmao, so funny) are often wrong. That's why I said "We will see". I have an opinion like the next guy, but unlike you, I form my own vs. accepting what I am told. But I don't KNOW anything. Neither does Simms. Hell, like half the teams picking at the end of the month are going to blow their picks. Like me, and Simms, and everyone else, we will have to wait and see.
Hall >>> Orhorhoro im biased bc I went to OSU, but Hall’s motor and scrappiness imo will make him a solid and useful DT2 on any team whereas Orhorhoro I could see busting

Jer’Zhan continues to be underrated. Best defensive player in the draft!

He's Damn Good.
Harbaugh will get to the bottom of it
Tell them again bro. St Petersburg fl stand up
He is the best he should be the first defensive player off the board at No. 8, even though Atlanta doesn't like good pass rusbers.
Elite talent going to crappy teams… 1 season isn’t a great measure of a DT’s impact. D Laurence did blow it up his first year. Now he’s a beast.
I will never miss these draft evaluations. Nobody 100% correct but Simms, son of my favorite Giant, puts in the work.
