You’re welcome, this channel is full of tutorials and sparring pertaining to weapons and empty handed combos:) Hope you get off to a good start with the kama :)
I'm happy to hear that, check out some more content, I've made tons of videos covering various topics. I even have something as rare as a sparring video with a (wooden) kama.:)
Jalyn , that was pretty good. (y) Remember in all MA they have 'FORMS" . It's the basics, so MAs can do more complicated stuff. Boxers have the blobing bag on the ceiling n they just keep punching it . I don't think they are punching it cos they are bored . Noone can multiply without knowing how to add . Then, comes practicing the multiplication table . Then , comes algebra n Physics n Quantum Mechanics n string theory n relativity theory n ..... ;))
Thanks hecticmundo :) To be honest I'm not completely sure, but I think it will eventually happen. I've met the guy once before he's a good guy and I don't think he's the kind of person who would back out, but we were supposed to meet up a while back, but we hadn't planned the exact time and on the day he wasn't responding to my messages. Later he apologised and said he'd been very busy.... we agreed to find another day some time in the future. I was very busy and had kept my schedule open that day. So I wanna get some practical things done before I contact him again and try to set up a time for the fight or sparring session. :) I do expect it to happen sometime, though :)
fun fact, kamas were originally farming tools used to cut corn and rice but when farmers needed to find ways to protect themselves they modified them into weapons eventually adopting samurai combat techniques into it
Yeah, a pair of sharp kama would both hurt and destroy. Actually, the wooden ones (shown in the brief sparring clip) hurt quite a bit as well when making content.
Yeah the expandable baton is practical. The kama believe was originally a farming tool. The weapons used in traditional martial arts were typically either designed for warfare (the spear, the broadsword, polearms, etc) or everyday items (farming tools, fans to keep cool) which became improvised weapons. If kung fu and karate were modern inventions, there'd probably be weapon taolu/kata using keys, pencils, bottles, bricks and such as the weapons. :)
This is an awesome channel. Thank you both for sharing your knowledge and work with us all.
Appreciate the kind words. Hope you're doing well, brother :)

What good would a flashy spin on your hand have in combat
This particular tutorial has some martial elements but is more geared towards the arts aspect.
