It's certainly possible that the intended solution is some combination of teching up, dice enhancement, and use of building efficiency bonuses and things just looked frenetically unwinnable because Jon was trying to zerg rush; but the soft-cap population mechanic looks an awful lot like it permits floating a relatively massive population and economy if you can keep your eye on all the timers and move quickly enough; but will absolutely crush you if you try to play as though it's a turn based game with a 'deck' of 12.
@@fuzzyfuzzyfungus Not to mention, if you have a place that takes two die, you can just leave one resting in a building, waiting to be made useful, without worrying about a timer, while also making room in the queue. xD I feel Jon was, as you say, getting panicked and falling victim to game mechanics he didn't see coming. Good first run though! I really felt like he had it till the end there! xD It was when he was at 9/12 die, and didn't reproduce any, that I realized things were not going well, lmao.
@asdrubale bisanzio They could be growing normal grass too, we don't know. I'm just saying that's probably the logic behind it, regardless of whether it makes sense or not.
I'm so lucky this game isn't out yet. Something about your videos always has me wanting to tear the controls away from you and sort out a bunch of things you appear to be overlooking. Usually I go and buy it straight away, but this time I'm able to calm down for a week or so until it comes out.
A new game called The Big Con just came out and I feel it's right up your alley! It's a non-violent crime adventure game that takes place in the 90s! You play as Ali as she goes out trying to get enough money to save her mom's video store from loan sharks by committing non-violent crimes such as pick pocketing! It's super stylistic in a way that reminds me of the classic cartoon, Doug and gives off the vibe that you can play on a nice weekend with some chill lofi beats! Really hope you get a chance to at least check it out for yourself Jon!
This game is both completly irrelevant to my interests, but simultaneously irrestible due to the horrific yet strangely appealing video pun filled title . It’s.. Die-abolical.
Hello there, just your friendly neighborhood grammar nazi here to remind you that the singular term for "dice" is "die." Thank you and have a nice day. :b
When a die runs out of health it dies* This way you properly use singular of die but also use the wrong plural for die :P Doubly annoy the grammarians (Or when dice run out of health, they die; which is correct actually)
Jon, you should really play Stronghold! It's a classic game that has a lot of similar mechanics, but with the medieval atmosphere and good humor. I spent countless hours playing it back in the day, and it still holds up.
Specifically Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader. The later stuff doesn't hold up as well, unfortunately. The series didn't make the jump to 3D graphics well. The originals though, excellent stuff, really really good core game
@@MadTurnip Would recommend Stronghold Crusader as well, they expanded the map size so rather than just doing wave defence like the first game, it's multiple players building castles on the map at the same time
I don't know if I could see myself playing this specific game, but watching this video put me in the mood to play other dice games (like Tharsis). Thanks for the video!
Wow, this game is so beautiful and creative, and I'd LOVE to see this game again. I don't often enjoy the livestream format (matter of personal preference. nothing against you yourself) but I think I'd be down for a nice LOOOOONG livestream of THIS! xD
"where you send dice to have sex to make a new baby dice" Not something i thought i would hear on the internet today. Definitely up their in the "What did he just say?!" scale.
Just, um, hypothetically, are there interesting cost-optimization options implied by the fact that breeding a new die costs no resources, while feeding or healing dice that have been worn down in your service both consume scarce resources? Unless this is what the happiness mechanic is supposed to stop you doing(I'll admit, I definitely didn't grasp what was modifying happiness during this playthrough), a combination of breeding useless dice to minimize re-rolls and just replacing the peasants with their children after you work them to death looks like it might work...
When dice die their faction becomes unhappy, which can cause serious issues if unhappiness gets low. I think they just start to leave you. That said, you get a bit of happiness when new dice are born, but not enough to compensate for death. I think it’s a good balance, when you have high happiness you can kill off a few dice and save the food. This unhappiness hit can be seen a bit after 17:00 when he exiles a dice.
I have a question? How does a ringworld have seasons? Is one part of the ring closer to the star than another part? I feel like that would create *other* problems as well would it not?
"lets convert everyone to soldiers, except the ones at school because they can develop technology" sounds like a line someone said in 1960's america. Are...are we dice?
My assumption was that it restored half of the dice's max health, the cook house doesnt heal to full by defualt, it heals less than the half of the fusion die
its another one of those resource gathering/processing games thats exactly like all the rest. the key difference? this game uses dice. did duke devlin design this?
"Tell me you can't animate characters without telling me you can't animate characters" the game. Still, they got some interesting mechanics going on, so it's interesting to watch at least.
Seems like a fun game, but there's a bit too much micromanagement for my tastes. It's like if you had to manage each pop citizen in each city in Civ VI.....
Is the constant forwards and backwards of the camera as annoying to play as it is to watch? I'm not even 5 minutes in and the jerky non stop camera movement is already getting on my nerves.
Yet another game that's color dependent. Think of us poor colour deficient folk! You toss words like "Orange", "Green" and "Yellow" around like they mean something!
I can’t tell if this game is fun or just a stress-fueled nightmare.

Yes
"Herbs can be converted into food at the dairy farm. Not sure how that works, but whatever."
Those cows need food, Jon.
@asdrubale bisanzio Do you want blue milk? Because that’s how you get blue milk…

@asdrubale bisanzio Depending on the herb, those cows are getting plenty of grass.
This version of Frostpunk looks a bit dicey...
Me: This is a wholesome channel, I can have it loud on speakers.

(4:32) Why does a ringworld have seasons? I don't even know why there's a day/night cycle. Is the "ring" a Moebius strip?

19:05 "Send the worthless stuff that we don't need to school."
Huh dad is that you?
Developer: "ok, how many game mechanics do you want?"
Designer: "yes"
Wish they would've kept the art style more dicey? Like have the people walking about also be little dice.
"Steam Generator !"
Intro CC: “This is John Mania Trudeau…”
Me: Close enough
Jon. Jon? That button with the two parallel lines at the top right? That's a pause button.
Alternative title:
"Diecasters of Catan"
I like that cuz it almost seems like its saying Disasters of Catan heh
I didn't expect Jon to go all "the doctor who thought making a human centipede was a good idea"
3:21 is that…is that a Red vs Blue reference? I’m more sure that it is, but I’d like it to be :’)
20:00 when a pun is so obvious even Jon doesn't want to make it
I feel like the puns in your video titles are severely underrated
Hopefully one day there are enough of these videos for a playlist, and that playlist shall be called 'The die-sastrous adventures of Jon'.
Yeah, an interesting twist using actual dice as NPCs.
A little too off the wall for me, though.
For the love of English, Jon, the singular of "dice" is "die!" As in "the die is cast!" Two dice, one die!
"where you send dice to have sex to make a new baby dice" Not something i thought i would hear on the internet today. Definitely up their in the "What did he just say?!" scale.
Jon saying "sex" is the least sexiest thing I have ever heard Jon say.
You had me at "Dice have sex with other Dice to make Baby Dice."

I feel like I'm living in many a dice rolls from this damn hurricane.
Wait, does the ring world represent a bingo dice cage?
I have a question? How does a ringworld have seasons? Is one part of the ring closer to the star than another part? I feel like that would create *other* problems as well would it not?
I don't know why I like this, but I do. I'm looking forward to its release. I also look forward to you livestreaming it!
I need more of this
Surprisingly intense
Take me down to the pair o' dice city.
quote jon: "Cogs, I need more Cogs."
Sounds more erotic than when written down
We the people demand this be this weeks live stream
I like how the game has a pause button but he never used it
"lets convert everyone to soldiers, except the ones at school because they can develop technology" sounds like a line someone said in 1960's america. Are...are we dice?
Jon as a commander "alright soldier get in the sex house!" *but sir* "Explorer you get in the sex house aswell!"
When Jon mentioned Tucker I was like You son of a Bitch! Ya did it scumbag 😂😛🤗😊
"when durability is restored; durability is restored by half"
im prty sure this means it restores 50% more durability when restoring durability.
My assumption was that it restored half of the dice's max health, the cook house doesnt heal to full by defualt, it heals less than the half of the fusion die
@@EdsonR13 Oooh, it mite be that instd. Either way its def not a reduction in durability restored
Dice Dice Baby
If only there was some kind of special ability belonging to the leader that you could use to unfreeze dice. :)
That would be quite useful, if only
there is, the wager ability.
With the base leader, the combination unfreezes all dices in your hand
I want this game now!
Now the James Bond related Twitter posts from earlier today kinda make sense a little bit. 😆 (I could be super wide of the mark).
Livestream would be awesome!
This look like stress
A weirdly relevant day for this
Looks like a single-player, real-time version of Stone Age. Could be interesting.
4:20 "You get in the sex house"
When die die, do they go to Devon?
Jon...literally nobody(except possibly the developers of this game) asked themselves that at any point during their lives...ever.
I don't enjoy these dice games but I love the ringworld
Pair o' dice, found.
its another one of those resource gathering/processing games thats exactly like all the rest. the key difference? this game uses dice. did duke devlin design this?
Day 476 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. To live until you die, then I guess the die must live.... does that pun work?
liked just for the title pun
"Tell me you can't animate characters without telling me you can't animate characters" the game. Still, they got some interesting mechanics going on, so it's interesting to watch at least.
Woop whoop!
A dice based economy seems kinda volatile.
Hmm yes"gnerator" I liked frostpunk mechanics too
(This is a joke)
If your gather rate is faster then you will be getting more of it.
So are you not playing forgotten city anymore??
Sweet! Dice legacy!
Seems like a fun game, but there's a bit too much micromanagement for my tastes. It's like if you had to manage each pop citizen in each city in Civ VI.....
he play roman mystery gold touch game again?
Neat.
Um... I don't think that's how blacksmithing works...
No more Dicetys
Was expecting expecting video to be about the new Gluttony escalation in Hitman, but this will do
A detestable dragon-s3xing bard player made this. XD
why isn't the title "die hard"?
So that's why the new Battlefield doesn't come along....
Is the constant forwards and backwards of the camera as annoying to play as it is to watch? I'm not even 5 minutes in and the jerky non stop camera movement is already getting on my nerves.
"Dice another day" 😏
Dice breeding game? :O
That is a halo ring
So we're just making the die mate, with no regard for the genetic gene pool. That level of inbreeding is a bit dicey.
this i have so this game i jump
Yet another game that's color dependent. Think of us poor colour deficient folk! You toss words like "Orange", "Green" and "Yellow" around like they mean something!
These dice are useless.. running low on health.. cookhouse empty (as usual).. tons of food in the bank..
1) Restore durability?
2) Fukit, REROLL!!
Am I the only one being slighly bothered by Jon's use of "a dice" in the singular?
He also uses "the die" in the plural?!? "Three die"???
It must be a British thing. I've heard others do it.
@@Zerakis okay, thanks. I am not a native speaker, haven't heard it before.
His usage is just really inconsistent to be honest...
He pronounces Kyanite with an s, so I think Jon says words as he wants rather than as they are.
