      Long videos appear to be my calling card right now, lol! I'm trying to spread things out a bit with some short(er) and more focused videos in the future, but I'll definitely keep doing these long ones at least once a month. Glad you found it useful! 🙏

    Where are you placing the "press 'n seal props" (that's what I am going to call them from now on!)? Just ambient room temp, light and humidity?

    • @kyrad6543
      @kyrad6543 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah...I didn't wait to the end. Heat mat. That is probably helpful.

    • @theproppist
      @theproppist  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Kyra! I see you already got to the end of the video for your answer, but for anyone else who didn't see it - I've been keeping these "press 'n seal props" (😆) on a heat mat, in room humidity for the time being. They're in pretty low light, small LEDs in my guest room, not plant lights or anything fancy. Temps in the room are 19-21C or so on average at this time of year. Humidity is pretty low (~42-45%-ish) because we have the heat pump going (heat mode obvs... this is Vancouver in November.)
      Once I do my update video (pretty soon, I would think - I recorded this a few weeks ago already, lol), I'll move 'em into the tent. For what it's worth... everything's still alive, even in room humidity. 😉

    any idea how to propagate an anthurium radican?

    • @theproppist
      @theproppist  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! Good question - I don't know that I have a great answer for you. I don't have an Anthurium radicans myself (I don't seem them sold that often - where did you find yours?), but I do have a hybrid - A. radicans x luxurians. I've had it for nearly 3 years and I've totally neglected it since my first thrips infestation in summer 2021, but you're reminding me to take care of it. The thing is tough as nails, just like a luxurians.
      Now, if the "pure" A. radicans is anything like the hybrids out there - which are far more common to find from what I can see - I think you're best bet is probably division if it's a smaller plant. My radicans x lux hybrid has a *TON* of offsets all around the base that would probably be super easy to split off. The bottom of the plant almost looks like an alien mountain chain because it has so many peaks and different growth points in such a compact area. It's a funny plant, for sure.
      Without seeing what yours look like (the pics on IG and Google I can find don't show the base of the plant too well), unless the thing is really tall and has a clearly defined main stem where you can see nodes, I'd go with division. Pull the plant out, check the roots, and you can probably split an offset off the root system relatively easily. If you want to put a pic of the plant and base/roots up somewhere, I can probably be more helpful. Thanks for watching! 😃
