A challenging synthesis and separation, very well done. A step up from this is 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP). The reaction conditions to directly nitrate phenol to this are difficult to achieve and isolate. A different route is to first make 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene, then hydrolyze the chloro- to hydroxy.
Lucky you in sunny India for being able freely (it seems) practice hobby chemistry. Here in the UK, the socio-political situation is a sorry state of affairs: "have you got a licence/permit for that?" In the UK, an individual can no longer own HCl and other chemistry essentials above a certain concentration without asking for 'permission'.
I am looking into moving to India. Lots of sunshine, warm winters, a good quality of living, less bureacratic redtape (compare to the EU and UK). A growing science industry (I have a BSc qualification in Chemistry). Furthermore, I enjoy growing tropical plants, so I'd quite enjoy volunteering my time and learning on the mango plantations!
Very nice man! Don't they smell amazing? The nitrotoluene to toluidine reaction goes from the best smelling chemical I've ever made, directly to one of the worst. lol
Such clean products with a clean synthesis!

This is such a clever way to separate these products! I really enjoyed this video!
Neat synthesis

You do tend to get an abundance of what you tolerate ..
Yes I have permit but tbh no one cares that

Good luck to you🙂
cool!
Since nitric acid being a powerful oxidizing agent does the ring get oxidized?
it does, hence the tar
Sir,How to make Diethyl ethyl malonate.
Pls make a review on synthesis of phenyl azo pyridine
Sure I will in the near future

Ofcourse they do smell so good🙂
