The good old days when you picked up a game like Final Fantasy Legends for GB and put 3 hours of playtime in before you figure out how to start the main quest.
im glad that this gem of a game is also on nintendo switch online so that dweebs that dont want to buy miyoo minis or powkiddy etc can still play it like all of us dweebs!
A small masterpiece, I bought it as soon as it came out as a kid, I still keep it complete and in perfect condition in my collection, over the years I have finished it several times, always very fun and satisfying. The atmosphere is one of the best on Gameboy, usually the games for this console were always very joyful and cheerful, but the design and music of this game, combined with the high difficulty made it almost disturbing, especially for a kid. Without a doubt one of the top 10 Gameboy games.
Capcoms production quality has always been top notch. The music beams you into another world and that's what gaming is all about. The darker tone of Gargoyles Quest really hooked me up and that's why converted to Mega Drive instead of SNES later on.
On my list now, thanks. First need to beat Alleyway and Kirby's Dreamland. Also, I love that we can scrape the game manuals to read before and during playing.
Modern games have beautiful (??) screens, F/X, musics, BUT they lack optimisations, they stink of free/paid updates, patches, requiring to get the "best" hardware of course, etc... I'm not a 100% retro nostalgic, but I love old games because they have what the modern don't: a SOUL, a HEART, a something which brings you to play again and again. So, I'm dweebwing happy to see this new club alive!! Let's have FUN!!
I like the idea of these new videos. So many content creators focus on the hardware for running retro games, which is great, but almost none of them talk about the games beyond how well they run in various emulators. On a side note, the screen on the RGB30 is just so freaking amazing!
I have vague memories of playing a little bit of this game. I know I didn't get far (it was challenging) and I definitely didn't have the cart so it must have been at a friend's house. But now it's starting to dredge up all kinds of fond memories and nostalgia with the Gameboy. Sitting for hours in the sun room of my grandparent's house as the adults talked about boring adult stuff. I had much more important things to worry about, like seeing how far I could get in Tetris or beating Super Mario Land 2. Or trying to play with the illumination of passing street lamps at night because turning on the inside car light would mean instant death (well, that's how it felt). Anyway, now that I'm way off on a tangent, I'll have to revisit Gargoyle's Quest. Thanks for the reminder. Hope to see more from the DGS.
Fun! I was actually just playing the OG Gameboy Castlevania on a Funkey S. A total blast whilst waiting in line for whatever. Thanks lad. Brilliant content kid.
This is a great game for the first episode of this series! I only recently found out about this game, due to me growing up with the GBA instead of the original Gameboy, but it's so cool for a Gameboy game!
There’s a very good strategy video on this game that walks you through every step of this game. (U can beat… series). It was the impetus that pushed me to order the RGB 30! Great choice for the inaugural episode. Long live the dusty game society!
I remember when I bought this game on the 3ds eshop it was after Christmas not sure the year but man had a lot fun with it. I still have that 3ds and the other two games on that system. I going to play this game again thanks buddy!
This game was awesome! I never heard of it before the dusty game society on Techdweeb's discord channel. Yes save scumming was involved but whatareyagonnado.
The closest I came to owning a Gameboy was when Pokemon became super popular in the US. My wife and I were watching the cartoon on Saturdays with her daughters and we even bought a few of the Pikachu pedometers, man, we went through so many of those things. I almost bought a GBC to play Pokemon, but we just didn't have enough money for me to buy some 70 - 80 games for the system. Long story short, I never played Gargoyle's Quest but I did play the SNES sequel, Demon's Crest, which I absolutely loved. Maybe it is time to go back and play the original.
UUU this series would be perfect to feature some of the games I recently discovered or were my old time obscure favorites, for example here are 2 super interesting ones: - Terranigma (SNES) - Dark RPG with easy leveling up, especially with save states, but very story driven with a really deep and interesting story (I am almost finished with the whole game, according to walkthroughs, but it is so hard you kind of need periodic walkthroughs, but it's worth it, some puzzles are imposible to figure out, if not looking at walkthroughs) - Boogerman (Sega Senesis) It is funny with fun graphics.
Had this back then...still have it. It was a fun game then and still good. I have my original games and hardware but sure prefer modern screens. Seems like I bought this on 3dsxl too. I enjoyed GB games on that system....nice big screen. I bought a modded 2DS years ago and haven't the nerve to mod my 3dsxl
I'm thinking the unforgiving game over aspect where you can't save comes from the arcade tradition of wanting you to sink as many quarters into the machine as you have in your pocket.
I recently picked up an Xbox 360, having not had one since I was young and sold it for my Xbox One. I've been playing it recently on my channel and have already went thru almost all of the old Call of Duty games, Battlefield, Gears of War, Halo, etc and have just about packed my newer Xbox's up and put them in the closet to protect them from dust because that is about all they are collecting anymore. MW3 campaign was my first time ever playing it and it was some of the most fun I've had in a short 6 hours. Absolutely zero pay to win stuff, didn't need to update it every day and it's performance just.. well, Todd Howard worked. I still have my PS2 and this week has made me really want to dig it out again. Btw I love your channel! Have been watching you for forever now, I just don't comment much! Keep it up, wish to see you at 100K this year!
This. THIS. This is why we retro! This is an awesome idea Mr. Dweeb ❤ I love the great idea of not just focusing on the hardware, but the whole stinkin' reason for getting said hardware in the first place! Video Games today don't come with that feeling of made as a "labor of love" unless you find some indy diamonds in the rough. So many games from the early 2000s and especially in the 90s were made with purpose and soul.
Felicitations good sir. I do trust that the Dusty Games Society indulge in dusty games whilst smoking a pipe and sporting a monacle, what? I anticipate future installments with immense jubilance. 🧐
Wow this game was very special to me I owned it and played it on my fat Gameboy and i played so many hours. It was really hard but i remember progression through the game getting codes and leveling the gargoyle up and being able to fly longer. Finding secrets was so satisfying, thank you for this video I haven't thought about this gaming years and the crazy thing is I bet you I have it on a retro handheld I just totally forgot about it. Just watching the game play here I'm like oh my God it's like a wave of nostalgia hit over me 😅😅😅. What a great game to start with!!! Always been one of my favorites!!! Funny side note, in your gameplay footage you ran across a couple enemies who appear to be just a regular guy with wh a sheet thrown over them like a cheap ghost costume. I was playing the Japanese game Kid Dracula by Konami on the NES the other day and I ran into a boss that looked EXACTLY the same, only with two obvious differences. The first difference was that the boss character was much larger by comparison, the other difference is that for some reason, the “Ghost” boss had a swastika on the forehead of its ghost mask making it look very much like something other than a ghost. It completely went against the otherwise fun and cute take on a Konami vampire game. What’s up with that Konami?
The symbol can be found throughout Asia, from homes to temples, in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It has also been used by cultures and religions throughout history, the earliest example from 10,000 BCE - a mammoth ivory carving!
@@badbusiness2113 Yeah, I know. So why was it on the forehead of that person wearing a white sheet just like Charlie Manson? The songs literally get stuck in my head all day sometimes.

@@TechDweeb awesome! Will surely do that. Thank you very much-
Could you teach me the exact color configuration to make my screen look EXACTLY like yours? I just can't make my emulator look like old school GB... 😢
I got you.
Start the GB game. Open your RA options (mine is select + a), then Core Options > GB Colourization > Internal, and then under Internal Palette select GB - Pocket.
