I remember hearing Mariah on the radio for the first time when she first came out in June of 1990. I was at work and we had the radio on. They played, “Vision of Love”. I was enjoying it but when she hit the whistle note, my jaw dropped. I was smitten on the spot and have purchased every one of her albums since then. In that initial moment of hearing her, it was as if I’d been waiting my whole life to hear her voice and didn’t even know I was missing it.
Mariah is my favorite too. There's a life saving force to her voice, she literally has made life more bearable to me for many years. I was like 11 years old when she debuted and i first heard of her in an award show where she was nominated a bunch of times and she pretty much owned that night but all i knew was her name and that it was her very successful debut, and then i heard "Vision Of Love" for the first time and it was clear to me what the fuss was about lol. She really won me over when she proved her critics wrong with her MTV Unplugged concert, which she didn't even need to do because she had mind blowing live performances before that. It'd be interesting to hear you sing one of my favorites "Anytime You Need A Friend" if you haven't already. I think it would sound very good sung by a guy lol, anyway thanks for sharing.

Then Daydream came out and, of course, I had to get her legendary Christmas album "Merry Christmas" too. Sadly, most of her music that came after Glitter, was not so much to my liking. It seems especially rare for a male vocalist these days to have your rich timbre, vibrato, and melisma, which tend to be the vocal elements that most quickly admit a song to my playlists.
