This year for Halloween the 506th is dressed up as UNSC Troopers. Insurgent forces have captured an ONI site, and it is our job to go and take it back. I am leading the operation.

Q: Is that AI or real people?
A: If it's an ArmA Mission it's AI unless I very specifically state otherwise. The 506th doesn't PvP.
Q: What ArmA 3 mods do you use?
A: CUP Terrains, RHS Escalation, CBA A3, TFAR, ACE3, cTab, FHQ Accessories, DAR MAXXPROs, grace weapon sway fix, Ares, mrb A3 Voice Stop, Switch Weapons While Moving, Cypress push-to-hear, Mighty's GAU8, ASCZ Missing Content, Recoil Fix, 506th Custom Factions, Tweaks, and Sounds(not publicly available)
For SF missions: VSM Gear, Enhanced Movement Mod, MOCAP Melee mod, MCC, SMA Weapons, Robert Hammer Pistols, and a variety of ArmA community maps.
I am no longer using any iteration of JSRS due to the problems it causes on servers. It was discovered in Feb 2015 that all versions of JSRS for the past 4 years have been causing massive amounts of errors on dedicated servers so it has stopped being used and I don't use another sound mod. This includes JSRS Lite.
Q: Can you upload that mission so I can play it?
A: Nearly all of the missions I play are dynamically created by someone controlling Zeus in ArmA. They are therefore not available for upload.
Q: No debrief?
A: When we debrief in game I leave it in. We very rarely debrief in game. Debriefs are rare, not the norm, and they never will be.
Q: Why don't you do X when you Zeus?
A: I Zeus by a very strict set of guidelines set forth by my ArmA unit to maximize the fun of the people in the mission for whom I am Zeusing. The goal is fun, not punishment. I don't need a hundred Monday morning quarterbacks telling me "what I should have done" or "how I would have done it" or "how this other person does it". All I need is for my guys to say they had fun at the end of the mission and I know I did it right.

That was fucking awesome, I only wish the marines ai in the xbox halo games were anywhere near as good as the 506th.
That's why I said 'the ai in the xbox halo games', referring to the ai for the marines in the standalone halo games made by Bungie and 343 Studios, not the gameplay in the video itself.
It's weird, the marine ai was pretty good in Halo 1 and then was terrible for the rest of the series.

This is SO sick. Halo was one of my favorite games as a kid growing up, and for the story line it still is. Arma3 is one of my favorite PC games, and the two together is just fucking DOPE haha. Nice work fella.

Imagine if squad made a DLC for something like this. All they would need to do is change the decal for troops and equipment.

This is TECHNICALLY during the insurgency, where the marines were fighting rebels. Although I agree, marines vs covenant would be cool, however the players would have to be Spartans on one team because they are the only counter to the covenant.
Not true. Regular marines can put up a good fight too, but having a spartan turned the tide on most of the battles.
Alpha's Channel Well yeah, but it takes a good couple of marines to take down one elite. For the game to be balanced it would have to be Spartans VS Elites.
Mop Hmm, maybe there should be almost like a class selection? I don't know how it would work but it would be interesting.
Alpha's Channel Just two modes, Marines vs Rebels, and Spartans vs Elites. 2nd one would be more up close and intense because of energy shields and what not.

What's with all of the CAS and CAP? I only counted two friendly pelicans, and two opfor hornets. Were the Hornets and Pelicans dogfighting?
And if the Pelicans have their guns (70mm IIRC canon), why couldn't they preform CAS, particularly against the watch towers?
I wish there was a way I could do this casually, cause it looks fun as hell. With school and all I just don't have the time to devote to this type of thing.

That auto pistol/SMG doesn't climb much at all, even while standing. Is it pistol caliber or rifle caliber?
It's a 5x23 caseless cartridge. Which is fictional so but yeah, it's a pistol cartridge in the Halo universe
It also uses a direct gas impinged rotating ramp system of feeding the rounds (imagine an FN P90 bolt carrier system with a Eugene Stoner gas system) which would probably create very little felt recoil for the user. The rounds are also small, so there probably won't be much recoil coming from Newton's third law either, but that can be debatable within Halo, as the battle rifle uses non-standard powder to get more punch out of a small case. I'm assuming based on the case length of 23mm that the design of the cartridge takes advantage of the ability for caseless bullets to sit within a shell made up of solid propellant rather than sitting on top of a solid fuel cylinder. This could also mean that the bullet itself could have up to a length of about 20mm which would explain the effectiveness against big-ass aliens while still keeping recoil pretty low. They must have found a good way to manage heat too, since caseless ammo, no ejection port, and direct gas impingement all scream hot bolt group.
tl;dr The SMG is weird. Cool, but weird.

out of curiosity what type of fire support assets can be found in the halo universe mod that you use
5+ variants of warthogs, hornet, pelican, falcon, longsword. They're working on a Scorpion as well as an armored APC. Don't know if the APC is canon or not, but it has a cannon.
Is there any type of long range IDF? Does the scorpion have function like a current day Paladin, or is it restricted to the Halo definition?
