Woohoo, who ever did this job deserves a medal of honnor. Sometimes people forget how advaced the sound and how avantgarde the club sound and scene have been back in the days.
Absolutely love this series! Such a delight watching passionate, creative people spontaneously remember and share the personal moments and emotions that these tracks bring back for them, as well as them calling out their appreciation for the creators of the tracks and their labels. Wonderfully positive.
Love these quizzes. The track selection is always on point. The love the participants have for the music is insprational too. Going turn on my drum machine now and get creating.
I love that you kept it strictly mid-90's. I forgot how much creativity there was in the genre back then. Great tracks. I own five of these and still got like 2.5 points 😄 A few, I've never even heard of the artist or label! That track 9 that stumped everyone is really nice!
@@ElectronicBeatsTV 9 artist, 6 titles. My life goes around Dub Techno lol. Maybe 7 titles if we get "M4" as good as "M4 A". Thanks guys for this! I really enjoyed
Oh yes Convextion - Miranda was the perfect track to end the episode, what a tune. There is something about Dub Techno it just never gets boring. Really great episode, such a good energy from the guests too. Cant wait for the next one!
I don't know who always picks these tracks at 'Electronic Beats' but, for me, these are great great picks usually. Thank you for that! Very very much appreciated. Keep those blind tests coming. Maybe even more frequent 🙂
Thanks for this. John Talabot was spinning the Convextion track in London years ago and couldn't figure out the name of the track since then. Now it's sorted. What a tune!
Crazy how recognizable Convextion's sound is considering I even knew the last one was him and I'm not even a big dub techno head. It's those buzzy, twangy synth patches.
Hope you gave Shcuro the half point for getting Convextion - Untitled, the original release didn't have track names. Props to Shcuro and Mareena for doing so well on this one, true dub heads for real!
Now would be a great time for those who have been promising time-travel "in the future" to make good on those promises. I, for one, would love to go back!
Crazy how even now my heart starts beating faster and my skin flushes, i melt back into the days of Hadtien parties, I was a traveller back in the mid nineties. Still have a lot of the music without names and titles on my mini disc player(it still works). I definitely remember how the music made me feel !!! I was not a Dj, names and titles were not important to me. I just wanted to dance! Thanks🎉
i've really lost faith in dub techno over the last years, but there are obviously still so many great records i haven't heard yet. time to get back into it. otherwise: great episode - as always! ;)
Loads of it all sounds the exact same. There's not enough innovation or experimentation. There's albums on Greyscale records where literally every single track has the exact same background white noise.
it's a mostly stagnant genre, totally agreed on that. but when one finds an interesting new record its pretty likely that it's one one can play out for a long time and blends in perfectly with the rest of your collection. @@arjanpetersen
@@arjanpetersen to a degree yes, but us dub techno fans would probably be happy for the next 100 years of releases to all be sounding like Quadrant Dub, if it works, it works. its a genre that doesn't need to change in my opinion
Fun video. I knew I was going to be weak on this, but to get a whopping 0 / 10 was a surprise. Kind of a pleasant surprise in a way as I now have 'new' music to have a delve into for tonight.
Not a single track I didn't love in here. Might not be the bangers or popular underground hits you remember from any given DJ's set, but it's the atmospheric stuff that stitches it all together.
@@ElectronicBeatsTV Pretty sure this genre term was coined post 2000, there is no mention of this specific term in the common German music press like Groove, Raveline etc. in reviews or interviews during the 90s. I just read three Chain Reaction reviews (Vainqueur, Erosion & Resilent all pretty much textbook Dub Techno records) in a Groove magazine from 96/97 and none of the texts mention the term Dub Techno. On a different note as a long time local Hard Wax customer since '96 I never heard anyone using this term pre 2000 it was simply Techno not even dubby Techno.
@@mojubarecordsExactly right. It was either dub (Rhythm and Sound) or simply techno (Chain R. catalog). Actually there was no reason for any special tag back then, because all Chain R. artists shared their own vision, which was very important for the label. And none of them cared about journalism with all its tags and categorisation. It was purely about the music. Untitled is fine. I'm pretty sure neither Moritz nor Mark call it that way even nowadays.
All these tracks aged so well, truly a timeless genre of music
Dub techno is so good. Slams on a big sound system and then chills you out on a smaller rig.
So true, can be totally banging in a club, yet also possible to chill to
LITERALLY!
I like it, 8pcs 18" Subwoofers in 40m² room. Quite enjoyable 🙂
Finally some Dub Techno Love. Amazing tracks by true legends of the genre. Best blind test episode ever. Thank you

It’s awesome learning about this type of techno.

Basic Channel turns 30 this year. Timeless label thank you Telekom there should be 10+ more episodes on this
That style aged so well, still tasty
Quite a selection! Taking 4 tracks to play in my sets. Educational, Inspirational! Thank you, lovely people! You are truly appreciated!
Deadbeat rolling a zoot and having a blast is just too good
the last track is insane!!!
this has got to be the hardest genre for people who aren't familiar with it 😆
Can confirm - never heard of any of them. Really like it though, so great to discover the tracks!

How about a 90s ambient dub episode?
Damn that Monojunk track has me in tears. It’s too good. Also that Convextion track is such a killer!
Really inspirational to hear these tracks again. And to see the love for this music in the participants!
Such happy DJs…. Full of excitement when they get the right track, EB you keep picking great tracks….
i say this way too often but it is so true, nothing compares to the 90s

Thank you for including Merv - Dust ! In my opinion the best Dub Techno track ever made
Ohyeah that track before the last one slaps major league, didn't know it before!
Wow nice tracks again, but pretty difficult challenge
