- Carolina Eyck's concerts are always special, because she is one of the few who have mastered the extraordinary instrument called theremin. With her voice and one of the most difficult electronic instruments to master, she reaches unexpected sonic territories.
Carolina Eyck is a German-Sorbian musician and composer, largely recognized as the world’s leading theremin virtuoso. Eyck developed her own precise eight-finger-position playing technique by the age of 16 and published the first extensive theremin method book The Art of Playing the Theremin. Her method is now used by thereminists around the world and has revolutionized how the instrument is played. She has performed all around the world, collaborated with contemporary artists from a variety of genres, and has performed or recorded with rock legend Steve Vai, singer-songwriter Gotye, DJ Jeff Mills, guitarist Jim Moginie, Tangerine Dream, multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier, and vocalist Theo Bleckmann, among others.

She is actually the one who invented the standard of how to play it. She invented the technique when she was very young.

Also here you can clearly hear what you helped me to pronounce correctly on May 05 "ty kuzłarka zynkow" you enchantress of sounds. It is beautiful to hear how you modify your pieces in detail at every performance, so it is not a dead playback but is every time a surprise and real living music. All those who were not at the release concert on May 5 or 6, 2022 can't imagine what they missed.

29:10 is one of the best renditions of the famous Doctor Who theme. That last piece is wonderful too. Really shows the unique abilities of this instrument. It seems well suited to improvisation in combination with voice and synthesizer.

This is a great find. Loving her music. 12:06 sounds like the erhu (Chinese violin). Around 17:58 sounds like whale song a bit. I wonder how marine mammals would respond if this were played underwater? They'd probably prefer it to be deafened by submarine radars.

The Theramin was invented by Russian Leon Theramin in 1920 and patented in 1928. It inspired Moog to invent the synthesizer in 1964.
Moog did build some theramins.
