I loved how the video broke down exactly what interior designers do I’m a senior in high school and want to major in interior design but I dont know where to start I have been doing a lot of research yet I haven’t been able to find many schools that offer interior design as a major near me (Illinois) I don’t know what to do but I do know that I want to become an interior designer

am definitely considering to choose interior design as my major in college but I am very confused on whether it suited me or not. I have a high sense of art, especially when it comes to decorating a room. I am just wondering do interior designers decorate rooms along with the points you mentioned? Can an interior designer be interior decorators at the same time?
Hi Afnan, Interior designer do far more than just decorating,you learn decorating in interior design program .To answer your questions yes interior designers can be a decorator at the same time .To be a decorator you might not need to go to get bachelor or diploma. Perhaps just the interior design certificate would be enough. Some college have the interior decorating program .How ever by taking interior design as your major you become both .I hope i this answer your question. I’ve graduated from civil Engineering, but I always wanted to be a interior designer because I can see clearly that I have the sense of decorating and imagination of how to make a space look perfect and also safe and now I am teaching art . I have always loved concepts of remodeling spaces in homes & I thought interior design was the closest to what I want to study to get there. Many people just mix up things between the two or between the three just as mentioned before. Some believe that these skills are just technically but in fact it requires more than this such as creativity, balancing and green aspects. We can say some tendances than others

Hi , when you take the program you will see each course has its own book there is not one book to fit all. It is like any other program that you take in university.

I love the info. Now I am really not sure who to contact with my fiber art sashiko wall hangings. I think a lot of Interior 'Decorators' say they are 'Designers', not sure. So do I contact Interior 'Decorators' to help me sell my work? Its all recycled fibers. Please advise. Thanks so much.
Hi Aida, thanks for explaining the scope of interior design so concisely! I'm curious- if you graduate with an undergraduate degree in architecture or interior design, do you need certification after that to practice?
I have a degree in interior design and also bachelor of engineering and i also obtained my building license and i am a builder, it took me years of studying to get to this level, for the level that i am working you need to have a degree and pass the design test ncidq it called.

This has been my dream job since I was in 4th grade. I love everything about it and I even plan on redoing my room next week! The thing is I’m turning 13 and I’m just in middle school! Any tips on getting to where you are one day?
Wow you only 13 and you know what you like ! That is amazing 👏, the earlier in life you start the more successful you become, you definitely need to go to university to be able to become an interior designer, but i do suggest few things to start now to make you stronger in your career .
Start sketching rooms , furniture, lighting, any ideas simply put them on your sketch book.
If you have access to computer, download sketch up and photo shop and start making your self familiar with these two programs . You can learn so much in TH-cam.
These are not technical software but i think it will help to boost your creativity in a good way .try these tips and reach to me in a year ! I will give you more advice.

If you are an interior designer you can become a decorator how ever if you are decorator and not studied interior design and pass all the required tests then you can not do interior design work.I hope that helps .Cheers-Aida

What jobs can I get into with a interior design degree and can I use interior architect and design degree to work in a architecture firm or field.
I’m 14 and in 9th grade. I’m interested in looking into interior design to see if it’s a career I might enjoy. Should I try to find some lessons or courses that teach the basics of this career? What do you recommend?
Just an advice from someone older try to watch videos like these find interior designers in your area and ask them about work and studies . Also if there is a specific college or university you should know what are the grades needed what they study and try to go there if they have an open day and talk with the students. I suggest this methode for anything you are interested in as i once was in your shoes but since I've never made effort to know more about my intrests i ended up in a major i Don't like
I always wanted to get an interior design major, Now I've accepted at college for this major, but I become not sure of my choice and scared I'm not suitable enough, even though I've been so sure about this for 3 years. I'm trying not to think much about it since it was just me being nervous to enter college life, anyway thank you for this video

Alot of people get to this field thinking it is fun and easy but it is actually the opposite, having said that i think every one can do it if they want it .if you have creativity in your blood then keep going ! as you continue you will learn all the skills. You can definitely do that ,it might take longer but i really find it beneficial, i do both architecture and interior design work and i love it .Architects focus on the exterior of the building much more and interior designers focus more on the interior and i think the combination is just awesome. However i suggest you start with the one you love more and you might like it so much that you stick to it.I hope that helps. Cheers_Aida

If you like to focus mainly on the exterior and not as much on the interior detail then i just suggest you study architecture and not interior design. I think you are very young so you have more time to study , if i were you i would start with architecture and if you feel you have more passion toward interior then just simply switch to interior design. I'm currently studying interior design here in the Philippines wherein we need to the pass board exam after graduation before practicing, can you suggest that I'll go apply abroad? because here in the Philippines they let Architects do the interior designing process😥 even though we designers should be the one designing 😢
Hi, first i would like to thank you for watching my videos. To answer your question i have to say, i totally understand but don't think this is only happening in Philippines,because there is a fine line between architect and interior designer sometimes the job can get done without interior designer or without architect.
Interior design is a new profession so it takes time for people realize what exactly interior Designer do.
I do suggest you apply for the board exam, specially if you are going to stay and work in Philippines, if you decide to live and move somewhere else you need to update your education according to that country and maybe pass other tests before start working. Can I do both interior architecture and design ?
I'm a contractor, first time working with a wannabe designer who after watching this, turns out to just be an interior decorator. Thank you for pointing out that everything should be documented, this interior decorator who hired us is trying to be a GC and changes her mind on stuff constantly then complains about them being change orders. I wonder if being an interior designer should require a license that requires working with a licensed designer as part of licensing. That way everyone who can match floors and wall colors doesn't think they can be an interior designer.
