    944 is my favourite car, but in my country they are extremely rare and hard to find accessories for the replacement. One time i see a 944 on the car website in very bad condition, i would buy it but i can not find any place to fix it. If i can find someone like you, i must get a 944. Great works and great videos. Keep it up!

      Thanks! They are much cheaper in the US where they are plentiful! Find one here and have it fixed up then shipped to you! Just a thought and it might save you a lot of money!

    Great work in "bringing back-to-life" this great 944.
    In 2019 I bought a 1983 Porsche 944 in a reasonable good working condition, and about the same color has the one in your video here.
    About a year after owning it, the car didn't want to start and thanks to your videos,..I managed to narrow it down to the starter relay under the dashboard, near the driver's foot well. After ordering a new one and installing it in,..it starts great, first time, every time.
    Thanks for another great informative video of a 944.

    Hats off to you edredas! I know you probably work on these cars in your sleep.I rescued one of mine from the crusher.Nothing sadder then a Porsche 944 thats benn sitting for years especially if the concealed headlamps are up and staring at you. Id like to save them all if I could.Thanks for another great video.

    With the timing belt in the condition it was, it may have been a hidden blessing from the German god of engineering that it failed to start in 2006. 🤣
    Love the new intro and backstory on this one! Cheers!

      I know right! I do think they were planning to try and work on it before bringing it here, but one of the spark plugs broke off so they decided against it. So glad that the key was never turned!

    You have in depth video on removing belt for early 944?

    • @edredas
      @edredas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just one on installing the belt, but it should give you an idea of how to remove it. Depending on the year it isn't too difficult. I hope that helps!

    Brent, have you thought of making a website? I was looking to see if you had one but there’s nothing. Anyways, I was wondering how much you’d charge to diagnose and fix a no start issue and spruce up some wiring. Mine is a 1983 and it hasn’t ran in about a year due to the wiring - how much do you charge per hour?
    Also, I love your channel. The best of the best. I like how you do your work without fancy garages with lifts and what not.

    • @edredas
      @edredas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I used to have a website but it didn't get much traffic so I started using facebook. It was a much easier to update and create a following for next to nothing, but it looks like it's down today. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to build another website given the situation. That said, we charge $125 per hour for electrical work. Thanks again!

  • @multipurposepaperbox

    Wonderful! Lovely to hear the story too.
    Brent, which brand balance belt do you typically use? I've got one which has an indent/dimple on each tooth, and it's making a very whiny noise. Running the engine without the belt sounds fine, but no matter the tension in the balance belt, it sounds like I've over tightened it.

    • @edredas
      @edredas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have a high performance belt which is made up of a stronger material, so it is normal for it to be louder. That said, I use Gates belts. I hope that helps!

    Hey man!!! Waiting on the title for our 46,000 mile red 83 944 !! Storage unit for 6 years !!! Last inspection in 03 !!!!!Repaint, 30 miles on complete engine and transmission rebuild!!!! The analog oil gauge goes straight to 5 and stays there , seems like electrical issues, any thoughts??😀😀😀🍺🍺🍺🍺

    • @edredas
      @edredas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it does it without starting the engine then it’s likely the wires on the sender are swapped around.

    what does it mean when you say you got the injectors rebuilt?

    • @edredas
      @edredas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I meant to say I had them 'serviced' but during editing I just had to roll with what slipped out of my mouth and didn't catch at the time. That said, I sent them out to RC fuel injector to be cleaned and flow matched. They replaced the filters, pintle cap, and O-Rings. So, kinda rebuilt, but 'serviced' would have been more accurate statement. Thanks!

    • @notny411
      @notny411 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edredas Thank you for the clarification. I am about to pull my injectors out and run some carb cleaner through them and put new o-rings on. Apparently I have the Siemens 80 lb injectors that go with the Vitesse MAF kit. Hoping that those use the same o-rings as the original injectors since I bought the o-rings that are for the original injectors.

    I'm not sure but is it possible that the engine makes the ticking noise

    • @edredas
      @edredas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its the injectors batch firing. I can't really hear it on this car as much as on others through my headphones but they all make it to some degree. Thanks!
