Replace Outdoor Stairs

This set of stairs in... rough shape, just a little crooked. Technically 50% of the stairs works, not bad eh? But Mongo going to replace them.
Mongo get some treated lumber from the home depot.
- 2, 5 step stringers
- 2, 2x12x12
- Treated lumber is designed to contact the ground and be outdoors in the weather. Best practice to protect the wood with some sort of cover like paint, urethane, etc... Untreated lumber will not last as long in an outdoor situation.
Mongo wasn't sure what material would need to got some extra just in case.
- 3inch exterior screws to attach all the wood together
This set of stairs is not connected to the house, they are free standing. It is important to make sure the uprights are square to the stair stringers.
Mongo put a little overhang on the steps.
Also put a small gap between the uprights and the stringers. This servs as a guide for when to replace the stairs. Over time as the wood breaks down the uprights will come in contact with the top step. That when it time to replace. Yes is strongest when uprights are against the top step.
