    Ah yes, body mounting hardware. I need to do the same thing with sorting, cleaning, figuring out locations, etc. Once again, you are blazing the trail for me. Thanks, as always.

      My pleasure! I was debating whether I should include the schematic explanation in the video and I though it might be helpful for someone so I did. It will help me again when I have to put the body on the chassis permanently in a few months.

    From a distant memory, I think the side lights/indicators lenses are angled, which sort of brings them back looking straight and level. But I might be wrong, ha-ha.. Great work so far Elin.

    Really great work Elin, what a sweet little car! I know you have those few little fitment areas to work on, but I'm really jealous of how well everything does fit on the whole! We made a few mistakes a while back that are coming back to bite us now! Lol. Seeing how you resolve yours will be encouraging!
    Have a great weekend!

    Elin, Excellent video with very informative info. Don't forget the rubber washers between the body and the frame. The Authorized Triumph factory GT6 Workshop manual, (red cover large white letters) is available on E bay. Cheers for now.

      Yeah, I need to boy some more bolts, which I am missing and the rubber washers. Thanks!

    That door repair was perfect when you did it. Someone must have snuck into the shop and changed it later. 😀

      I know, right? At work we have a guy who we blame for all fails. I blamed him for that too. He might have sneaked at night and overheated my door, causing it warp badly :)

    All of this scares me for when I try to do final gaps. Now I know that I should expect to be frustrated! Thanks for the info on the body mounting hardware. I agree that there is no good and correct reference...until now, of course!

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, you will be fine with the gaps. You didn't have major repairs on the doors so they should be nice and straight. You already aligned the sills with them so You will be OK. In the worse case you might need to grind here and there and add some weld. But I don't see anything major on your car. Mine was OK too until I cut the doors open LOL

      I hope you're right! Of course, I haven't looked too close at the doors yet, but they aren't as bad as your were, that's for sure.

    Looking good Elin! For those stripped out headlight bezels You can try re tapping them with a larger size bolt or you can Helicoil them in the same size.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, probably I will go a size up. The holes on the bonnet are large enough. The only issue is they are blind holes so I have to be careful with the tap.

    • @bobadams179
      @bobadams179 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you not just tap them off the car?

    I wish i had seen this before I mounted my body, annoyingly the captive nut on the new outrigger has detached and the bolts now just turns ! Any suggestion welcome .

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      john merrix, drill a hole on the bottom of the frame, bug enough for a socket and reach in with a socket and an extension to hold the nut

    Thanks. Are you going to repaint the white stripes aft of the B pillar?

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so. At least for now I am not planning to. I haven't decided about the color yet so these are things I will think of much later.

    Elin, you could try inserting helicoil inserts into the damaged holes for the headlight cowls. It's a good idea to use the helicoil inserts in these old alloy parts.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will try to retap them first to a bigger size. If it doesn't work well I will use helicoil.

    Looking good. I can see what you are talking about now on the bottom of the passenger door. In my mind, I thought you were talking about the flat side of the door....now it makes more sense about welding the steel rod in there. Not sure how you are going to fix your little stick out at the top but I'm more than confident that you will make it look as good as the rest of the car. Should I go out and work on my car now or just sit on the couch and watch TH-cam videos all day? 😎

      No. I say get to work...

      There is nothing to watch recently, so better get to work!

  • @berndb.5097

    I'm sure you can handle this. The "side looking" turn signals I would cut open at the edges and weld in sheets. I think this looks better.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I think I will leave them as they are. It looks like that's factory!

    To be honest I thought the picture of the red Tr6 the lights pointed slightly up as well

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you are right there is a little angle to them too. Not so much though. But this picture is the home picture of some Triumph related website and I think they made it look nice in the front, but didn't care too much for the sides. I am sure that car has at least an inch gap between the fenders and the quarter valances

    I bought the exact same kit from ANG and ran into the same problem as you, and i was not impressed with them, Elin :-)
    Here's another thing, not relevant to the GT6:
    Today i read in the news that the population in Bulgaria has dropped with 20% within the last 30 years.
    Is that true?

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't believe they sell parts with a wrong schematic. I didn't buy the kit from them so I shouldn't be complaining though :)
      Yes, the population of Bulgaria keeps dropping. There are many small villages where nobody lives anymore. The tendency is the people from the small towns and villages move to the big cities looking for better opportunity and the people from the big cities emigrate mostly to the European countries, but some go even further like me :)
      The other factor is the people are not making enough money and don't have more than one maximum 2 kids. Once upon a time families had at least 2 kids.
