  • Draining the coolant, flushing and refilling antifreeze coolant on the 2013 Yamaha Grizzly 700 atv
    50/50 mix using Distilled Water
On top of using the maintenance manual; I found a great link on Grizzly Central.com that explains the process in detail with pictures.

I did re-fill and run the engine for a few minutes with water (run through water softener) to further clean the system internal components as a further flush

I know... how times have changed since the older machines. You should try taking a shroud of a snowmobile...
      Much worse

Yes it does Roger. I was trying to hold the camera myself at the same time. I should of had my tripod to assist on this video. Next time though. Yes; lol it squirts.

Thanks for doing the video, nicely done. One question I have, did you bleed out the bleeder screws since I believe that gets done before you start it? I believe there are 2, one you pointed out by the water pump, the other is on top. Just asking since I will be doing this very job in another month or so. Thanks again.

I believe i cropped the cylinder bleed out. I think i added steps in the description. Yes, fill the radiator and tank up to proper level; crack the bleeder screw let it come out. Fire the engine, leave the cap off. Once the engine warms to temperature it will open the thermostat which opens the circuit through the radiator. This will force the coolant entirely around and you will see levels drop out. Keep filling the radiator as it lowers. Raise the rpm a bit here and there. Coolant is circulating. If there was an air lock, this will force it out to burp at the radiator. Once the engine is warm and you do not need to add any more coolant, put the rad cap back on and let the engine cool down. Once the engine is cooled down, re check radiator coolant levels and overflow tank to observe proper levels

Nicely done and again thank you. I have been waiting for a coolant flush video for awhile, you did a real nice job explaining and showing.

My kodiak 700 overheats I changed the thermostat and water pump impeller seems fine, do you think I need to flush my coolant and put a new antifreeze?

My cylinder head bleed bolt is off and no fluid or air comes out at all. With the system filled up and topped off. Anything wrong?

Either you have s plug or not enough fluid in. Put the coolant in, start the bike to let it ruin and warm up and keep adding the coolant as it drops. You can bleed it that way

What type of antifreeze did you use? Should be a non silicate such as oem brand some automotive brand,s with silicate will destroy aluminum internals.Check your owner,s manual.

Not sure at the moment, but i would stick to what the manual says unless you are rough on the bike, then more often.

i will try that next time. I did a vinegar flush on my tractor a few times a couple of years ago. The atv flush was a general flush at that point. Thanks for watching and info!
