I have been looking for a skirt pattern like this one with the wide, turn down waistband for a long time. I have a favorite skirt, much like this one, and it's all I want to wear in the summer. I know knits are a little tricky to sew on, but after your easy to understand tutorial, I now feel confident I can make and wear a lot of favorite summer skirts. Thank You!
I thoroughly enjoyed this first watch. I will be back for other tips. I used to sew quite well from patterns but began quilting and embroidering and forgot how to use a pattern. This is much more simplified. Thanks.
My pleasure. I had similar experience with you, that's why I seldom use commercial pattern anymore and prefer this method (at least for simpler garments). Thanks for watching :)
Hello friends, I forgot to mention in this video that you need to pre wash your fabric first, since you are sewing a garment, especially with cotton Jersey knit fabric that usually will shrink. Hope your project turns out great. Thank you!
How do you know that the top of the skirt will be larger than the waistband? I would think they would be the same size. Maybe I missed something? How much % smaller should the waist fabric be than the top of the skirt where it will be attached? Will this method work for plus sizes, or would the top curve be too big to fit properly? Also, Is there another way to make the pattern without already having a skirt? Wouldn't a pair of pants or shorts folded in half also give you the correct outline (just not as long)? Thanks!
I just finished this skirt, really simple and the skirt is so so so comfortable!!! I'll be making more and different materials. Love it!!
Thanks so much for this pattern! My mom wanted me to make her a skirt in this style and I was clueless 😂
you're very welcome!
This is exactly what my daughter wants!
Very very nice! Thanks for jogging my memory!!!
Anytime Lucy
I’m impressed with your skills. I’m going to try it.

When you cut the main part of the skirt on the fold, how did you end up with two pieces of that cut? Absolutely love your tutorial
I didn't, I cut two pieces of fabrics on fold :)
What about a pair of palazzo pants with knit fabric? I’d love to see you teach that🤩

How much less than my waist measurement do I cut waist band?
Half. That way it equals the waist measurement in the end.
❤
Zigzag stitches only?
Yes, if using regular machine, if using straight stitches your fabric won't stretch
