  • The Belmont Hotel Mactan is a brand new luxury hotel in Cebu. Rated as a 4 star hotel it offers really stylish rooms. Conveniently Located at Mactan Newtown close to Cebu’s airport. It is part of the massive Megaworld project in Cebu which has the Newtown Beach and soon will include a new shopping mall. It’s the sister hotel of the Savoy Mactan which is next door to the Belmont Hotel. If you are looking where to stay in Mactan this is a great option.
    Features of the hotel include an outdoor swimming pool, gym, outdoor dining area, restaurant and bar. It’s walking distance to other restaurants and cafes. At the time of making this video it was a soft opening. They were offering some great opening rates. Also available on 3rd party booking sites like TripAdvisor, Agoda and Expedia.

      Especially true given if one is arriving on an international flight. Sometimes it's not possible, or advisable, to try to connect to another island on the same day. A super bonus that by staying in the Cebu Mactan Island Newtown area, for the most part you can avoid being stuck in Cebu City traffic for many minutes per kilometre.

      Yes, Rob Brand's videos are way, way better than the rubbish/trash placed on TH-cam by "influencers" who only speak of positives and focus the camera on themselves.
      Rob is informative and knows the basics (and the small, agreeable extras) that travellers (family or others) want. His videos rarely disappoint. They are a great educative tool about a particular city or rural area.

    I've lived and worked in Mactan 13 years ago its so different from what it used to look like now. I wonder where the local residents from those areas are now considering about 80% of that city is now structured for luxury establishments.

    In the 11 months since this video appeared, TripAdvisor has had 137 reviews of Belmont Hotel Mactan.
    The vast majority have been very positive, backing up much of what Rob stated.
    With recent reviews, two reviewers praised the breakfast while one said it was not worth it. As Rob predicted, apparently it has become a buffet.
    A great summary from Rob of hotel facilities. I suspect it might be windy some days if relaxing by the pool. Being in total shade in the afternoon is not great.
    As usual, Rob's room tour was terrific. In UK and Europe recently, some 3.5-4 star hotels at which I stayed lacked a minibar and also did not have an in-room safe. Quie a few Filipino hotels are ahead of those supposedly developed nations, even though European hoteliers would never admit it.

    Stayed at the Savoy 3weeks ago and left no towels no face cloths no toilet paper for a pretty new property the furniture and walls are surprisingly worn and dirty hallways were dark and/or dimly lit.
    It was apparent that maintenance was lacking we left this was the 2nd time we had a bad experience at the Savoy we will never stay there again.
    I sincerely hope the Belmont is managed differently and will not degrade in time.

      I saw (in the video too) they're still got some work to do from the damage from the typhoon. I wouldn't be surprised with the lockdown and the typhoon that budgets have been affected significantly.

    Mactan is a great little island oasis but man it doesn't get the attention like Cebu gets when it comes to cleaning up the streets, utilities and garbage collection. Its becoming a dump in some areas. I'm so surprised given the airport is there along with all the best resorts and yet taxes are no going towards cleaning up the city. They have to do better

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's something that needs to be looked into. Not only for sanitation but visually it's ugly, it's not something you like visitors to Cebu to see. Newtown area should set the standard for the other areas.

      That whole area will look so different in the coming years. Belmont was having some opening promos so you may still find it cheaper. They did say they were branding as a higher standard to the Savoy so expect it to be a higher price.

    Why Savoy didn’t fix thier damage window it’s already a year ? It’s luck of budget do you think

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's correct. I've stayed at a few resorts in Mactan recently and there's still things (usually minor) still to fix 1 year after the typhoon. They said due to the lockdown and of course the typhoon their budgets have been affected. Things are getting better with more tourists (and tourist dollar) they will get around to fixing this stuff in 2023.

      @@FindingParadise International arrivals (last I read) were still only at about 60 per cent of 2019 figures for Philippines as a whole.
      The ongoing spats with authoritarian mainland communist China won't help, but some markets such as USA, Australia and increasingly South Korea and Taiwan are proving robust, so that all helps.
      One benefit of your videos for Filipinos away from Manila is that your filming encourages travel to the Visayas. Eventually, this creates more employment, so you're partly providing a very useful public service. My local parish priest might say that was one of the marks of a true Christian. Well done, Rob Brand!

      Well with the Belmont in soft opening stage as I write this (expected to be officially opened in March 2023) so not everything is running at 100%. The Savoy is the choice. But once officially open the Belmont has the potential to be a bit better.
