People are crazy! This Part 1 of Season 6 is sooo good!!! Different than the first 4 seasons, these 4 episodes are so obviously fiction, because there is no way Peter Morgan know what Diana & Dodi discussed in Paris before the accident.
And it wasn't even a ghost! I perceived it as forms of grief. I've seen a lot of people including myself started talking to themselves when someone close just died. The characters were just shocked and still processing everything that just happened.
I think it was well done and totally in synced with Peter Morgan's The Queen starring Helen Mirren! Very good job! 👏🏽

I really don't appreciate the generalization that all Americans think "The Crown" is true. We know it's entertainment and not a documentary. I loved the first part of season 6, mostly because of West as Charles who, by the written accounts that I've read, was truly gutted by her death and he played it perfectly.

I think younger people, even if from England (most of us don’t call ourselves British, like people think we do), sometimes they think it’s real too and you have to remind them of things or that if we weren’t involved in the conversations at the time then that’s all generalised too.

A large percentage of Americans do think that the period pieces and historical dramas they see on TV and in movies are true because of the poor quality of the US education system and the fact that Americans only learn about US history in school. American ignorance of history is known around the world.

The saddest thing about all this is that the Princess realised how crazy & vacuous her life had become. If she had lived it wouldn’t have surprised me if she had withdrawn from public life altogether. She had created a mania around herself the likes of which hasn’t been seen since. She totally eclipsed the Royal Family and still casts a shadow to this day.

    • @pictureperfect3211

I like this! But what people were missing is that these “ghosts” were manifestations of guilt and grief. They’re shown talking to the 3 people who are the most responsible for their misery. It was used as a way to for the characters to have closure, and to redeem them. It’s ridiculous that anyone watched this and thought that they were being haunted by the ghosts of Dodi and Diana.

  • @Victrola66
    @Victrola66 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

Oh I completely agree. This was such a drop in quality than what we have seen before from the creators of The Crown. Overall it felt like they tried to cram in so much in these last Diana episodes and too focus on her personal life. What we should have seen and what has more significance for the The Crown is Diana teaching her boys about the real world, about care for those who are not as priveleged as they are. Because moving forward and focus on William next 4 episodes - we need to see why he is the way he is. All the Crown has shown us in these 4 episodes are iconic visuals that we already have seen before (photos on the yacht, kisses with Dodi, their Paris visit). Even her antilandmine campaign is given like 30 seconds of attention, whereas she did a lot more. The last episode is a mess, so many things happen, and none of the real pressure is felt. As if all it took is 10 minutes for the queen to change her decision. The Crown shows the critical points that could have had consequences for institution - Diana's death and funeral was just that and it was worth more than being crammed into a 40 minutes episode.

Surely the whole point of a drama that is meant to be portraying actual events in some form is that the actors bear some resemblance to the people they are playing, or least have some knack for sounding a bit like or capturing some essence of the person? The one playing the Queen in these latest series has neither. She may be a wonderful actress, but as Giles says "is not remotely like the Queen and is not responding as she would have responded".

Honestly, it’s not that good. Season one is probably the best. And it depends on if you see the royal family as pointless or interesting. Plus they used to skip large periods of time in between seasons.
During the first season they mention facts you may not know after some episodes. Like the clean air act and when it was done. I find stuff like that interesting and wish they’d of kept that going.
Your actually not missing anything. They made out in the previous season that Princess Diana was loosing her mind, and today someone who envisioned people who are dead coming to them or obsessing that much would be sent to therapy.

I've lived in the UK since the 1970s and the whole idea that the country adored Diana is an absolute MYTH! Most people in the UK are and always have been largely indifferent to the Royals. They're to most of us what The Kardashians are to Americans. The whole Diana grieving was just mass hysteria whipped up by the media. The TV cameras only focused on the idiots doing their fake grief routine so it created a highly distorted view around the world. It's cringe worthy embarrassing to look back at. And she was also highly manipulative, she wanted to generate sympathy from the masses as the "cheated on" wife. Camilla was NOT a bit on the side, Charles knew her from years before. Just look at the thumbnails of this season with Diana looking like a lost little puppy dog. Just an act she put on for the cameras. Pathetic.

Really? Over the years the whole world has seen how your capital city gets during Royal events and funerals!

Actually she was adored all over the world, especially in this country. Don’t put your own beliefs or that of your family into other people.

Please. You can't deny the impact that her death had at that moment in Britain and all over the world. She was the most famous woman in the world at some point, get over it.

I have met people/my mother says the same… not everyone was bothered and media has over hyped the public reaction.

Diana was not always the innocent victim she liked to portray herself

She never portrayed herself as a victim. She admitted to her own infidelities in that interview she did. And she understood Charles’s jealousy of her popularity.

My problem with this season of The Crown is that it is so unbelievably BORING. I saw three episodes, but stopped after that.
