    Stoic philosophy is about controlling your mind because you don't have control over outside events.
    Art of war is about maximizing chances of outside events being in your favor.

    If I were about to become a soldier I’d go for sun tzu, he must’ve loved -war- or been effected by it so much.

      Thinking objectively, im with sun tzu while thinking emotionally and need for meditation is for Marcus Aurelius

      I think sun tzu is more reliable in terms of giving guidance in warfare. While Aurelius is more on cheering up or self motivational.

    Marcus appears to be a good man based on the quotes. Sun Tzu appears to be a person we should not trust at face value.

      It is unfair to judge side by side a war manual written by a strategist and the general philosophical meditations of an emperor. If Marcus Aurelius wrote a war manual, it would focus a lot more on war than on personal reflection; if he wrote a cookbook, it would focus cooking instructions, etc. I am sure if you put Albert Einstein's best tax advice next to Aurelius' _Meditations_ then old Albert would look like a tricky, self-serving bastard, too.

      Racist, 🤦🏻‍♂️ because sun tzu is a chinese? is that what you are pointing out?

    Any chance you can give the references in the description? In particular the Books in M. Aurelius' Meditations where the quotes are found?
    Keep up the good work!

    the difference is sun Tzu teaches you how to win at all cost winning pure and simple , he dose not teach about moral obligation .and gaining happiness.
    on the other hand marcus Aurelius teaches winning is not always the way to happens his principles are of strengthening your character how to become a stronger self not conquering other only your self a full fulling life = sun Tzu political and earthly gain./ Marcus Aurelius is overcoming you ownself spiritual and mentally at ease with yourself.

      Yeah it is a bit silly to compare, as some others are doing, a war manual written by a strategist and the general philosophical meditations of an Emperor. Are we really surprised that the war manual is more focused on the brutal realities of winning and deception? Do we really think that a war manual by Marcus Aurelius would be as focused on being just and holy and ignoring what others are thinking and doing?

      I think u miss understood the comparison, they r both presented a good guidance, sun tzu gives guidance in a true reality of WARFARE while Aurelius are more on SELF-IMPROWERMENT, if i have to choose to given advice i will choose SUN TZU because of PRACTICALITY not on self MOTIVATING because in WAR its NOT Only ABOUT YOUR SELF.

    Sun tzu is second level.
    China chess from han xin can beat sun tzu many times.
    Just a piece of picture.
    Also,han xin carrys out the practice in different kinds of real wars.
    Sun tzu is just a dreamer in battle,no real experience.
    Different level.

    • @johnyang8549
      @johnyang8549 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Funny because han xin used alot of sun tzu's advices to reunite china. Also Sun tzu did have alot battles you should look more into dept instead of being those people who who doubt peoples military prowess without really knowing, those people are really annoying.

    I’m excited to hear about it because I’ve actually read Marcus Aurelius and the other Greek philosophers and I found it so similar to the book stupid people always want to say it is the only thing that anyone should ever read and I don’t know how anyone can actually say Jesus is real or a shape is blah blah

    Patton did damn near everything opposite of Sun Tzu...
    Sun Tzu was an idiot...

    • @xandercorp6175
      @xandercorp6175 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patton and Sun Tzu are almost 2,500 years apart, mate; different times and places create different realities on the ground. Even if you think Patton's methods wouldn't have been crushed in Sun Tzu's time and place, a much better comparative to Sun Tzu's _Art of War_ (500 BC) would be Machiavelli's _Dell'arte della guerra_ (1573). The modern war machine is not possible without modern economies, technologies, etc.
