In the previous video regarding the discussion of tree diagrams about the sentence, I think sentences are quite easy to analyze this way. However, on the material of ambiguity analysis in sentences, I think this is quite difficult for me to understand if I do not try it on other sentences. After I tried to study more about it, some sentences that contain ambiguity are quite easy to analyze if they only contain one NP and VP as in the first example. For the second example, it took me a long time to understand it myself, Sir. I will try again with another sentence until I understand. Thank you for the explanation, Sir.

it helps me so much to understand diagram tree. tree diagrams make it easy to visualize and solve probability problems. They are a significant tool in breaking the problem down in a schematic way. While tree diagrams can convert many complicated problems into simple ones, they are not very useful when the sample space becomes too large.

Thank you for the explanation, sir. From the video I understand the tree diagram can also solve the ambiguous meaning in a sentence. To show the meaning of the ambiguous sentence, we need to draw two tree diagrams that have the analysis of the same sentence. In order to find the difference between two tree diagrams, we need to pay attention to the branches of the tree diagrams and also the position of the phrase structure that will show the ambiguity. As a result, we can see the phrases that have the same constituents through the tree diagram and get the meaning of the ambiguous sentence.

Thank you so much for the great explanation sir. i got it that we can find two or more different meaning within a sentence. thus, it confuses some poeple when trying to find the real meaning. but actually, that is the real meaning. the sentence can be understood in two ways. from the video above, its demonstrate about the used of tree diagram to disclose an ambiguity. it discuss about the preposition and coordinating conjunction. the confused sentence can be easily understood after breaking down each of the constituent untill the smallest. for example, from the video, the use of preposition in "with a stick" can belong to different subject without changing the posisition.

Thank you for the explanation sir. From the video, i quite understand how ambiguity in a sentence can be analyzed by using tree diagrams. Based two example that you have explain on the video, i can understand the second example. In the second example the ambiguity in the sentence is caused by prepositions. We can analyzed that the problem is who has a stick. First diagram, the stick can refer to the boy with a stick. So, we assume that the boy uses a stick to hit an old man. While in the second diagram it can refer to the old man. For sure, we can assume that the old man has a stick. My problem is in the first example, i'm still confused is it the door being locked by 1 person or 2 people together. But, i will try to repeat the explanation again so that i can understand. Thanks for the explanation sir
From the video, it is explained that the tree diagram is used to express ambiguous meaning in a sentence. The ambiguity in the example sentences in the first video that needs to be considered is the coordinating conjunction. The meaning of the sentence depends on the NP, namely Risa or tom and jack. The first diagram shows the door being locked by 1 person or 2 people but the second diagram shows the door being closed by 2 people and they could be lisa or tom with jack.
While in the second video the ambiguity in the sentence is caused by prespositions. The problem is who has a stick. First the stick can refer to old men and secondly it can refer to a boy.
But, I'm still having trouble practicing it, I think I still need to practice

Thank you for the explanation, sir! I keep on rewatching the video because It's a bit hard to understand it. According to the video, the tree diagram may help resolve confusing meaning in a statement. To demonstrate the meaning of the ambiguous statement, we must design two tree diagrams using the same sentence's analysis. To determine the difference between two tree diagrams, we must look at the tree diagrams' branches as well as the location of the phrase structure that will reveal the ambiguity. As a result of the tree diagram, we may observe the phrases with the same parts and deduce the meaning of the ambiguous statement.

In the sentence "The boy hit an old man with a stick", stick acts as a noun in a prepositional phrase which means "tongkat".
