I know what I’d like. A summer tour next year with Gabriel, Hackett, Banks, Rutherford & Nick Collins on drums. They could easily bring the music into the modern day & it could be a spectacular showcase of the best Gabriel era music. 👍
This is a fabulous idea, I doubt it will ever happen, but it’s great to put it out there
Ha doubt Steve would be interested, he's busy touring the real Genesis.
The Lamb is 50 This is one of those special albums for me. Spent hours listening to it as kid and still listen to it from time to tiime. Look forward to the box set
I do admire Gentle Giants honesty, in naming their Box Set “Scraping the Barrel”
It was the first Genesis album I ever listened to and will always be my favorite. This is a welcome release.
The Lamb is the one album I was left feeling the band had lost that super mystical atmosphere of Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme etc.
Same here it's definitely the least interesting of the real Genesis, being set in America wasn't the best idea considering the band's Englishness, much prefer what went before and the next Two with Steve ❤
I want to hear more “Live in Pittsburgh “ with Bill Bruford.
All the live stuff, rehearsals etc are available on TH-cam. My original copy, bought from my paper round money when I was 14, is still the only one I need. A bit scratched admittedly and a touch weird on side 2 (where my mate spilled Newkie Brown on it), but it’s now become a document of my youth, anything else just wouldn’t be the same.
I listen to the Archive Live Lamb all the time. While on the treadmill at the gym and while sitting in traffic on my commute from NYC to my home on Long Island. Still mystified that it was never quality filmed.
A golden ticket to a reunion gig with the band.
I'm guessing expansion using the 2007/2008 remix and surround mix (now on Blu_Ray), live material from Archive 1, and maybe if we're lucky, a new transfer of the original album mix. Possibly some kind of book and new interview documentary. Genesis don't seem to like releasing archive stuff otherwise, so I don't picture demos or versions in progress. Given how much they all seem to like Nick Davis's work as a group (and all 5 actually signed off on those mixes), I don't think there'll be a new surround done by someone like Steven Wilson.
Personally, I would like a new remix of the surround version, possibly Dolby Atmos. Like you I have both the DVD/SACD versions and I tend to play the SACD mix as it sounds more authentic. An instrumental version would be great too. Not too concerned about the live elements. I suspect there will be a portion dedicated to it. Let’s hope it doesn’t cost an arm and leg.🤔
Thanks for this Darren, I always enjoy your takes, but I’m particularly interested in this
Thank you Darren. I expect, maybe, to get some demos of the songs on that "Lamb" Box Set. Maybe, it could be interesting. And a documentary could be nice, too.
All they need to do is a Jethro Tull with it, they're anniversary jobbies are bob on 👍
Unreleased tracks that did not make the cut would be most interesting . There must of been some songs or extra bits of the story that were cast aside in the thinning out process.
Phill Collins as now for have the habit of recording every rehearsal and live show of the band. He have a gazillion of cassete tapes with Genesis music. Material for a lot of boxes.
I doubt they've got the studio backlog (at least until the '80s) to serve up anything half as good as the Tull book sets, but that would be my yardstick.
Personally, if they put out an album remix paired with a live show, it'd at least move the needle for me. That is, provided they don't pair that with vinyl to make everything stupid expensive for very little new content.
What I'm expecting is the 2007/2008 remix paired with the live show from Archive and an LP version for $150 which I'll easily take a pass on. Genesis are welcome to surprise me though.
Money for old rope.
I would like to see a remastered version & a live show on CD's with or without the studio outtakes.
My fave Genesis album as well. Always thought it had cojones other albums may have lacked being more whimsical and pastoral as opposed to the urban feel / content of Lamb.
I think it will contain a Steven Wilson remaster, outtakes, untouched live show, blu ray with the original slides used in the Lamb tour as visuals. If they somehow found an acceptable film of the show and include it this set will sell like no other prog box set has sold before
Thankfully, I don’t think Wilson cold dead hands will ever pollute this gen…
@@TheDarrenLockyou love Mr Wilson really 😂
Keep your perverted fantasies to yourself…
@@TheDarrenLock lol, he loves you, you know 😀
The Lamb… is is good album. Nice to listen to. Have heard it many times. I love it. But back in 1974 it would have been a great album, a really great album, if it had been more concise. Cut out about 35 to 40 minutes and bring it down to about 55 - 57 minutes.
Then in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s release it again, extended to what it is now. That would have been a bit of a coup for the 3 piece lineup!
Then in late 2024, go again with another reissued, remixed, remastered version with another extension to the already extended Lamb… and bring it out on tour with one or both of the Collins Minor drummers doing their Dad’s bits. Another coup…..
Wrong!
I always have a hankering for more Lamb!!😊
With mint jelly.
The album doesn't need a remix in my opinion, it's perfect as it is, but outakes and an interview would be great
I love it too! It is chicken, it is eggs... Cause it's only knock and know all, but I like it...
Can’t see anything we haven’t already heard. Remember Gabriel redubbing his vocals on Archive one ? Tony said there nothing left.
I expect the original mix on CD, a book, blu ray with visuals and surround mix, probably the live discs from the archive 1 box. More Genesis is always good, unless it’s an oddly sequenced BBC box set.
I always found the Lamb too long. Disc one is great, disc two not as good.
Sure… 🤡🤡🤡
Darren - which hipgnosis book was that you mentioned? Wouldn't mind checking it out
Rehash from before I suppose there's a full re-release of all albums coming out it's all about the money, money, money
Could be very interesting -demos of the songs -the surround sound would be nice -will we get the Steven Wilson rejiggering remix1 -a nice thick hardback book! Cheers Prog on!
Wilson will never touch this record…
Well, that’s certainly not Clickbait! How could anything be any more definitive than your rambling guesses and wishlist for what would go on the proposed 50th anniversary issue?
If my video is the worst thing to happen to you today, then I think you’re probably doing OK in life. 👍
Let’s do a Trespass or foxtrot box set.
So, who's in charge of this... Tony Banks? Concord didnt buy up the Gabriel/Hackett parts of the catalogue so i dont have much hope for anything new or mesmerising
For only one million dollars.
Phil Collins has re-recorded all the lead vocals from his wheelchair.
Not really funny….
Hard no on Nick Davis mix
You mean the mix sanctioned and signed off by the all the band and overseen by Tony Banks? That mix...

1970-1980 needs to be completely redone. Torn apart and remixed properly. It’s too bad Steven won’t do it but somebody on his level would be much appreciated.
@@TheDarrenLock Some of it was destroyed by loudness. Some of it sounded fine.
@@ilabelle1Agree 💯
Rush and Black Sabbath too. Hardly any outtakes. Unlike Tull and Stones. Genesis' Duke however is too long. Please Don't Ask and Alone Tonight should have been left off and saved for Collins- and Rutherford solo albums respectively. And Heathaze should have been a single b-side and replaced by the excellent Evidence Of Autumn. That was very off topic, sorry.
@@hansmagnusmalcolmsen9354 more interesting to me than an overpriced Lamb box, though!
I did read somewhere that they are going to bring out a special edition of the lamb lies down on Broadway including the 1994:version and other material related to the album. For me I prefer the 1994 re issue then the 2007 version
