    Those seamless transitions between the display and monitor in the beginning were awesome!

    That case is brilliant - along with the cheese plate this says to me that it has been designed by someone who's been out there in the field themselves. Good to see you back.

    I didn't know I needed this before watching your video :)
    Also a 4k 21 inch 1500 nit version would be very welcome

    So, I picked up one of these when it went on sale, during what us silly American's call black Friday. And I pretty much agree with all your assessments and your review. One, perhaps glaring omission, for anyone else watching this review, is that this only accepts an HD signal, whether via SDI or HDMI. So, if you're outputting 4K via your camera, you will need a format conversion to view on this monitor.
    Otherwise, it's terrific. And I'll likely keep it. So cheers to sharing your thoughts.

      You're right, I said it was a 1920 x 1200 screen, but didn't make it clear that it wouldn't down convert... my bad and I apologise. I'm glad you're thinking of keeping though, the picture looks great to my eyes. Thanks for the kind comment. 👍

    Mind blown away by your pixel peeping measurements, loved the review sir 💯. Currently I own atomos sumo since years, wanted something more portable and quicker setup and something that could take a slight rough time than atomos, I think the price point makes it vivid choice, currently 20% of on black Friday deal, deciding between 15 and 21 right now

    Product aside, this video has a Philip Bloom feeling. Which is a huge compliment. They way you talk and "test" things that others dont is great. I don't subscribe often but you got one from me.

    there *are* 10 bit OLED displays for laptops that match that spec (and price in large volumes, I own one of these for 1200, with a whole computer attached), but for 900$ considering markup/volume that's pretty insane.

    I have the model that came out prior to this one, and it hasn’t held up at all. The AC power supply no longer works, so it’s battery only, and both of the SDI ports no longer work, so it’s HDMI only. I do have their new 7” and 5” monitors as well, and those have been holding up nicely, but time will tell.

    • @extrashot
      @extrashot  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're the second person who's reported trouble with the AC supply... I've been cautious about running it on mains with a battery attached for a similar reason.

    • @MrAndrewClaycomb
      @MrAndrewClaycomb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@extrashot The earlier versions wouldn't let you connect to both AC and a battery. I think the AC brick just gave up.

    Great video! I've had the Megamon for a year. It's a good monitor but I don't love it. It has a significant latency, and drains v-mount batteries quickly. I since have also bought a Sony LMD-B170. It's an older monitor and doesn't have LUTs, but it sips battery power and has virtually zero latency. The colors on the Sony seem more accurate too. I still have the Osee and use it when I need two monitors on set, or to use outdoor because of the hood, but for indoor, it's not my first choice. The other thing that sucks on the Osee are the speakers, they are godawful and useless, so you need external speaker. The Sony speakers are much better. I don't know why they can't put better speakers in monitors.

    • @extrashot
      @extrashot  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point about the speakers... must admit I haven't really used them. I don't understand the V-mount drain though? I was impressed with how long mine have been lasting. Mind you, I'm comparing with an older style Sony LM that drinks power, so maybe I'm a little biased!

    You can make your own client monitor - Amazon a vesa mount able "portable monitor" 15 or 17" IPS with a full HDMI...less than 120 dollars then add vesa mount adapter power with a velcroed 10000+ mAh Battery pack (bought 2 to swap) add a stand and a cheap SDI converter (20-50 bucks only need 5v ) power all off battery.

      Do you know what 10 bit 1000 Nit HDR means at all?

  • @JJ_Khailha
    @JJ_Khailha 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I understand this monitor is not true 10 bit.

    • @extrashot
      @extrashot  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't get a definitive answer from anyone... it must be 8+2 FRC at this price but a lot of dealers are still stating 10 bit. I also couldn't work out a reliable test that could confirm either way, and I've no idea how quickly the frame rate control flickers? Either way, I came to the conclusion that if I couldn't spot the difference then it didn't matter. It certainly accepts a 10bit signal and looks great!

    What's up with the noisy image?

    • @extrashot
      @extrashot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean on my uploaded video or the image on the OSEE monitor?
      I admit, I've had problems getting my settings right on export from Resolve to TH-cam... might do a video about that soon! If it's just the monitor that looks noisy, then it must be my poor choice of source material. I can promise you the image on the Megamon is super clean.

      The macro stuff on the screen was shot at 200fps, which has all the artefacts you can see, but the other shots should look clean?
