I would love to see this tournament get upgraded to a 500. I know its a useless grass court tournament as it doesn't lead to a bigger event but I just love how fast the grass is. Feels like smthg out of the 90s.
it just got downgraded to a 125 Challenger as of next year
And in second week of Wimbledon next year. Should have kept its current slot in the calendar!
@@andymeek5022 yea I guess that makes sense. This tournament is useless in the broader tennis spectrum and none of top tier talent come to play. It’s a huge shame since this is the fastest grass court on the tour.
I think balls too play an important role as to how it travels off the court. So it's not the grass that makes the difference, it is the balls they're using. A case in point is compare the court speed at RG and Bastad in Sweden.
@@pratheekk__ I don't like the decision. Newport is always interesting, it reminds me of what grass court tennis looked like 35 years ago.

Servebots don’t really get broken and play 1000 tie breaks (isner, Hubi). Opelka isn’t my favorite player but surely not just a servebot. I suggest watching a match before commenting. 😂😂

Interesting that Mannarino’s level seems to have dropped ever since he got a clothing sponsor. I noticed the same thing that happened with Karatsev back in 2022. Ig being sponsorless seems to help motivate some players to perform well
