OMG jaka wielka akara błękitna. Pozdrowienia z Polski.
Hi guys, thanks for all your content, it’s really great. I’m gradually adding various Cichlids and have purchased a wave maker too. Most of the fish I’ve bought are very young and there’s more to come. I’m wondering about flow strength and whether to put the wave maker in now or wait until the young fish develop a little?
Thanks for following along! You should be fine to add the wavemaker in. As long as it doesn't seem to be blowing the fish around, they'll do just fine and almost all cichlids enjoy the flow
Nice channel
Thanks!
Good morning my name is Mike Krautzel. I teach an aquaculture class to middle school students in Pa. My students and I like watching your videos. Id like to pick yor brain about the cichlid tank you keep in your classroom and what do you teach the students about it. I have 11 large tanks in class designated towards african cichlids. Hope to talk soon. Keep up the good work
Excellent video. How often do you clean your Hob’s and canister filters?
Thanks! I try to do every couple months for the HOBs and every 3-4 for canisters. Sometimes fall behind tho
Thankyou brother. I just made a 6ft tank with sump filtration. Although I have 6 other tanks, sump filtration is my first time. It would be nice if you could do a video on how to prepare filtration in a sump. Thank you.
A good rule of thumb with feeding is, 'if you think you're not feeding enough, you're probably feeding too much'. Meaning that fish require very little throughout the day. A few small feedings throughout the day is more natural. As fish are natural foragers. They don't have one large meal a day like we do. They spend hours throughout various parts of the day looking for morsels of food. Not just the morning. But Morning, midday and evening.
do you have any suggestions on where to get South American cichlids from?? interested in some of those beautiful Geos!
Have you ever used a diatom filter. I did for years with amazing results.
Maintaining all those tanks is almost a full time job. A fun job though
Yep love the work
Also make sure your lights are working well, or might need replacing.
Sir i really need your help i have some South American chichileds like geophagus, blue acara severum and some angels and now i want to add discuss fish and green terror in the same tank so is it ok to do so ? Please help waiting for your reply
What about UV light sterilization? Does it help to make the water crystal clear?
You mentioned how often you do water change, but how often do you clean your FX6? Thanks !!
I try to do every 3-4 months, but sometimes slack some
My cichlids died a few months ago. I am redoing my 6p gallon tank with peacocks cichlids. Is a fx2 too much for my 60 gallon tank?
i just purchased a 55 gallon tank should i get aquaclear 70 or the 110 size?
Big tanks need a wet/dry with a uv lite. Have been using them on large tanks (500 gal) plus for yrs with monster fish and heavy bio loads.
I wouldn’t say they “need” those things. You can definitely have crystal clear water without spending a ton of money on a UV
Any tips on cleaning inside glass of brand new tank??.....lots of fingerprints and glue residue from the advertisement sticker. I just want to use something fish safe since it's on the inside. Thanks and great channel.
If you don’t have water inside yet, you can use bit of white vinegar removes almost all stains related to aquarium keeping - sticker glue comes off with dab of coconut or olive oil and piece of cloth to rub with, then just wipe the oil off with a bit of tissue paper, finish off with little vinegar if necessary, most like not needed.
If you have already filled the tank with water, use razor blade instead, to glide along & clean the glass inside. 😊
Hi so I’m keeping Mbunas, how many times should I feed them those Spirulina flakes a day and how many times a week
I would do once per day for adults, 2x per day for juveniles. 6 days per week
@@CichlidBros Thank you so much, love your channel favorite fish channel by far!
In how many months should I change my ceramic rings and activated carbon?
I never change out bio media. Would recommend every 2-3 months for chemical filtration
My cichlid tank has brown algae I was researching and apparently they are diatoms what can I do to control them or get rid of them?
Wait it out, all new tanks gets diatoms.
You keep your lights completely off right at night right Troy? No blue night lights?
Yep! Completely off. And usually keep lights off a lot of the day if I’m not around
Dont they freak out ?@@CichlidBros
My tip fishes dont like crystal clear water because they like pick particles from the water column ❤
So i think like they'll think
Can someone tell me where to purchase a 100-125 gallon tank
How many times a day do you feed your fish
Once per day
There's another outstanding option for maintaining both the clarity and quality of the tank water, if you have the space and budget for it: an RO/DI system. It's a lot easier to keep clean, clear water when you start with clean, clear water.
Are you going to get anymore tanks
Of course. Very soon too
Now my tank will look clear and not look like a pond
Water looks Green . Any Solution ?
First
I don't feed high protein foods to fish.
That's how i keep water clean of ammonia.
You need a UV sterilizer
Pretty expensive option. Water is clear without it
Do your african cichlids ever rub their body on the sand?
Occasionally. It's usually called "flashing" and occurs when they're irritated - could be a change in temp, water params, territorial aggression, breeding, etc. Not a big issue unless it happens often
Water change, water change, water change.
you should clean filter on aquarium water, not tap water.
I didn’t say otherwise
The wave can always be on day and night
Yep
