Canadian maple gold coins have a scannable leaf on it like a barcode

I live down under, we have Kangaroos but I find them to be to cartoonish, but some years really shine.
My favourite is the buffalo but I buy Maples due to price and beauty.
CMLs seem to do well everywhere!
The British Sovereign though smaller and 22ct is more recognised in the UK than the 24ct Britannia.
Sovereign’s are more fungible and you can buy 19th Century ones with just a few percent premium from pawnshops and then sell them for their numismatic value.
Yep! Working on a tube of eagles before I start branching out on other things. Gonna take me a while but meeting those goals are motivation to save.

I would buy american eagles, if I lived in the US but live in AUD so i'm going to settle with Kangaroo's. Don't want to pay import tax and duty haha.

Depends on the premiums. American Eagles and Buffalos are ridiculous right now. That's why people will buy others. At the end of the day, amount of gold primarily determines the value when selling.
Coins Of The Realm are best by being the most liquid of liquid. Everything else tends to be personal preference based on price or just liking the design.

The Buffalos have better purity just like the Canadian Maple Leaf and the Aus Kangaroos.

Eagles are the best. The .999 will scratch up just buy having your gold in a pile. U can't really keep them loose unless you are super careful. If we went back to gold they would melt all the buffalos down and then make 22k coins. U can't be walking with 24k coins in your pocket.
If u want to buy gold, buy gold. Buy whatever has the cheapest price per ounce. Paying more for an Eagle or a Buffalo because 'Murica is stupid. A Maple Leaf is just as good and significantly cheaper.
Overall spread is more important than the premium itself. I would rather buy a coin for 10% over spot if i can get 7% over spot upon sale, vs a 5% premium bullion that i can only get spot for when selling. Liquidity is also important.
