This is a helpful exploration of issues that arise when a Christians suffers mental health issues...It explores ways to support that person and suggests approaches. It also explores the issues of mental health suffering and shows there are many factors involved. A sensitive, prayerful approach is recommended -and a listening ear. Its helpful for those in churches or families who want to find ways to give pastoral care to someone suffering from conditions like anxiety, depression or suicide ideation- or for conditions that used to be 'taboo'. God's word and prayer are included but also getting alongside the person - but asking permission as well about what is helpful to that person.
I was so disappointed to hear Dominic Steele say that the secular world can only access professionals for help, whereas Christians can also access a community of love. Do you think there is no love in the secular world, that there is no support among friends, that there is no community? You live in a bubble Dominic Steele if this is your understanding of “the secular world”, to use your wording. Cameron Lock
If a pastor cannot look after his Flock in every area, he is useless, since when did a shepherd not look after his sheep, in every area of their lives, one just cannot pass on mental health issues onto others, because your a preacher only.
