    This video shows real-world tests at job sites and fun clips I made testing the camera. As a full-time hybrid shooter, I created this video because I didn't see examples of tests I wanted to see in relation to A7R5 stabilization benefits, Dynamic range and testing out how it works with my FX9. I also compared the camera to the a74 and saw some great improvements.

    Your review is the best on youtube ! I have been locking at reviews and as you said, most channels have tech reviews not real shooting scenario reviews.
    Most complain about the video features of the A7R5 as well about how bad and overpriced the 28-135 f4 lens is. I wanted to see both in action and also in real life scenarios when it really is on a tripod used together with another camera for a different angle, also with this lens because as a video shooter I need only one zoom which will be the 28-135mm f4. As a photo shooter I only use prime lenses and I have all the prime lenses that I need now, it is time for me to upgrade the camera and buy a zoom lens with stabilization for it, this seems to be a great versatile combo. I do not shoot vlogs or hobby style photography/video, part of the way I am shooting is to have the right stabilization the right lens and light required for the specific footage I need to take.
    The A7r5 is amazing for photos but you showed the proper example of how good and usable it can be for video as well.
    Thanks for this awesome review, I subscribed !

    How does the A7R5 compare to the A7S3 ? Isn't the A7S3 the standard for video quality on Sony hybrids?

    • @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez
      @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It has incredible video. I would say the a7siii set the standard, introducing 10bit footage 120fts 4K. Then every following camera released has 10bit video. Yes, it has a crop of 1.24 for 60frames but not every shot is shot for slowmotion. I will release a video or two shot on the A7R5 soon to show how nice the footage is. A7siii is still the king for slow-motion and low light, depends on the work you do.

    • @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez
      @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The A1 is an incredible camera. Sonys top offering. It really depends if you are using it to the best of its abilities. DO you shoot sports? DO you shoot fast paced jobs. Thats were the a1 sings. Also has some better frame rates video wise. If you shoot more commercial work, slower paced jobs, a7R5 will be a great choice, plus you will have extra cash to spare for a top lens. I haven't seen rolling shutter an issue for my needs, if I did more sports work, maybe it would be.

    Was the 135 shot a zoom lens with OSS or was that a 135 prime with no OSS? I am weighing up either another SIII, the A7R V or an FX3, I'm leaning towards the A7R... mostly do wedding films and a bit of corporate. Lenses: all primes other than my 70-200 which I do love to use to snipe people handheld, so A7R V would be awesome for that! A7 R is only £200 more than the SIII...

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a OSS lens 28-135 f4. I was shocked at the difference. For handheld it’s solid. I like the idea of telling the camera to focus on the bride and register her and groom as priority for focus. That can be a huge Benefit for wedding shooters.

    • @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez
      @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Gaston! Tough question. A1 is the peak but are you using it to its capacity. There was a time I had a big body D4 Nikon. The A1 equivalent for Nikon at the time. it was so large, i sold it for a lighter d750. AN a7iii equivalent. For weddings, I didn't really see the difference in switching. I consider A1 for Olympic games shooting, fast action, sports etc. Depends on your use case. a7iv is a perfect backup camera, I wouldn't lose it. A7Rv is an incredible camera that does both things amazingly well. You can sell the A1 and get the a7r5 plus additional items that can bring value to your business. I believe in having a backup if working professionally. Sorry for the rant.

    Tamron are bringing out a stabilised 70-180mm. I wonder how this IBIS and Active IBIS will work in conjunction with that.
    I always use Active IBIS because the smaller shakes taken out do help a bit.
    Although Active IBIS works better with Sony native lenses, stabilised or not.
    If anything this video makes me want to get a gimbal, not for the shakes but for the flat horizon. It is annoying having the wavy horizon just from the nature of capturing while moving.

      Handheld and gimbal are totally different tho. It may just be the wavy horizon you are stating is the rolling shutter that some cameras have. A7siii is a beast with that. A7IV has some rolling shutter. I am super interested in the new Tamron. Its upsetting that barely any lenses have stabilization these days. Paired with the a7R5 Im sure it will be a beast. I will say this about the a7IV. I am having issues with overheating on it. Typically when using the image edge app for remote control. I love the camera but need to do more stress tests.

    I am so happy the algorithm recommended your channel. As a business owner too, i had to go through 5 content videos that was just reading the specs to me. I also found the fx30 having better saturation in the shadows making the image richer than my fx3. Then i read how the fx30 sensor is just a slimmed down version of the a7rV and we can definitely see how sick it is :) when you matched with an fx9 😅 does it overheat when shooting long talking heads ?

    Never saw you upload that A7siii comparison or low light to the A7IV???
    That said, I have the chance to trade my A7Siii for an A7Rv. I do mostly video client work with some photography. I also have an A7IV, A1, FX30 and ZV-E1. I usually use a combination of my Siii, FX30, and E1 for video work. But my A7IV has missed some shots for photography and having a 4k60 with less crop has me thinking the RV can help.
    How do you find the low light performance is for interior shots at conferences or in buildings. I know I can trust my A7Siii.

      Amazing man, you got all the good stuff! I have been overwhelmed with work. SO hard to film edit and upload. Thanks for following and supporting the channel. I need to get on that asap! I have used it for conferences in medium and small file settings and I have found it to be good enough. A7siii will always be king in low light but these other cameras are coming close. To your point of the a7IV, seems to be handicapped. I have also missed some moments with that camera. I will say this, I know the next A7s will have some ground breaking feature. I have the camera as well and I also wish to sell in preparation for the next. Sell now since it still holds value at the moment. For event coverage and video work, the a7siii is amazing.

    This is very good video. Thank you. But you didn't talked about the elephant in the room i.e. the rolling shutter on this camera when it comes to video. It's a very slow sensor and that's where the S3, FX3 and FX6 really come into their own. The 12 megapixel sensor in these cameras is so fast that it's the closest we have to the one in the Arri when it comes to rolling shutter. What is your opinion about that? Is the R5 as good for video as it's for the stills? Is it the perfect hybrid? I am also thinking about the stacked sensor inside Nikon Z8 which makes that camera probably the best hybrid we have right now. For me, both, the stills and video are equally important. And, I have been looking for that perfect hybrid which I can carry with me long distance. I do not want to carry multiple cameras.

    • @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez
      @ThatGuyOsirisRamirez  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for liking the video. I guess it really depends what you film. If you shoot weddings, events, corporate jobs, then rolling shutter isn't an issue. If photography is important, then this shines as a hybrid. I have noticed that I have been shooting mostly 24-30 p, rarely shoot slowmo and if I do the 1.25 crop doesn't matter me. The stabilization is amazing that plus the other pluses in this video I stated. I have lots of photography clients. If you are 100% video and photos are for thumbnails or random assignments, then a fx3 can work. I happen to have both, as each has its strength. I have been married to the sony system since I have the larger FX9 Cinema camera. I think Sony is on top right now. I will say I love the Nikon feel, I used to shoot nikon. If they had larger cinema bodies, I would be tempted to switch back. Very satisfied with my sony tho.

    • @DineshBhadwal
      @DineshBhadwal ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatGuyOsirisRamirez I am also leaning towards the AR5. For me stills and video are equally important. One more question. How is the stabilisation when pared with pro cinema glass which is not optically stabilised? For example, the anamorphics. Is it any good? I also have a lot of vintage FD lenses. You are right about Sony having bigger cinema cameras and hence investing in that system. From the client's perspective, having a bigger and proper video camera is very important.

I like having bodies with different qualities. If I am shooting handheld work for video, I am choosing A7R5, filming a bride walk down the isle-A7R5 AI Autofocus on bride. It's a bit annoying that the price of the camera is very high, but they can't invest in a small LCD screen and a good stabilizer.
