Agreed - as soon as I saw the title of this upload and started playing it (and as I know well the tune and mode of 'Foggy dew') I was hearing 'Jolene' all the way through until the segway which could, I think, have been even more seamless if they hadn't dropped the instrumentation slightly before changing. Even so - a brilliant pairing of two wonderful songs and melodies.
Great version! I lived in Newfoundland, when I was a child, and my father was stationed there at Ernest Harmon AFB. I still have wonderful memories of those few years, and waving at Queen Elizabeth when she drove thru town.
Niamh Rooney He’s a mainland Canadian aka “mainlander” he only “lived” in Newfoundland as a child because his father was stationed here in the military- was not born and bred here, or lived here all of his life. Unfortunately that level of ignorance is quite typical of mainlanders lmao. They do the same to us here in NL.
You are an awesome singer Cliodhna!!!! In love with all of you!!!! So good to have met you all...you too, Natalie!!! Wish I was a bit younger Paul...!!!!
sounds like a funeral...terrible arrangement....i like my irish music to be alive and breathing....6 or 8 people in the band, at least 5 of them asleep
Newfoundland and Ireland are kindred blood remember the Leaders of the easter rising 1916
Why on God's green earth would anyone give this lovely (and understandable) rendition a thumbs down?
The English
It's well done not sure why the tempos so slow but it's beautiful nonetheless
When I was a child living in Donegal The foggy Dew was a great fireside song with visitors . This young
woman has a wonderful voice well done
This was class. Like Foggy Dew is one of the most powerful songs in the rebel repertoire but to shift into a guilty pleasure was class
I know the tunnel well and I love the fact that cyclists and walkers got backed up. What a nice surprise for them!!
The female Luke Kelly. Gives me goose bumps
Rip Sinead O’Connor, you, her and Colm McGuinness do the best versions of this song
From Torbay Newfoundland we love the chant
BEAUTIFUL...
The Jolene/Solas crossover is magic!

I think Floyd you may be a little confused, have ya banged you head.
@@belfastborn5732 haha last thing I though I'd see under a version of the Foggy Dew was a comment about waving at the queen! 😆

Butchered The Foggy Dew. Way too drawn out and oversang. Stick with Jolene, love.
Your opinion not mine she's very good
Yea she is, she has done a great job. You'll always find some clown looking for attention.
Did you watch the whole thing?
sounds like a funeral...terrible arrangement....i like my irish music to be alive and breathing....6 or 8 people in the band, at least 5 of them asleep
