Once again watched this recital. I find it appropriate for meditation especially as it is based around Easter. I keep returning to this recital again and again. 🙏🙏🙏
Listened to this again last night New Zealand time. Absolutely wonderful. Heartfelt thanks to Andrew and Richard. Thank you as well Richard for recommending Truro Cathedral. I watch their services most weeks and hear Andrew or Chris playing the organ. Will listen again nearer Easter this year👍👍🙏🙏
Extraordinary playing, excellent recording, great filming and completely beyond understanding how these organ geniuses can read those unreadable notes and at the same time twist their hands, fingers and feet to play them all. Thanks a lot to all involved.
I'm listening during Easter week. What an amazing recital by Andrew Wyatt; & equally amazing is the technology/knowledge, live & recorded, to share Mr. Wyatt's glorious presentation beyond Truro Cathedral to all parts of the world. I'm inspired by listening/watching a 2nd time right now!
Absolutely stunning in every way. No wonder there have been almost 10,000 viewings in about 3 days. It is so encouraging that there are so many young good organists in the UK that are prepared to share their talents with the rest of us. I particularly like the introductions to each piece of music and the fact that the camera sometimes focusing on the music itself.
Just piped this through 4k TV and hifi and what an experience! Many thanks indeed. Incredible sound and pictures from Truro. A feast. Can we do it again tomorrow? Ha! Fab! One to remember and listen again to. Karen.
Magnifico! Simply marvelous Andrew! Your playing of the Reubke 94th, especially your selected registration made this my favorite of all I've heard. Thank you and God Bless sir!
Fantastic recital thanks Andrew, and beautifully recorded and filmed thanks Richard! Thank you for a delightful Easter delicacy! All the very best to you both! Take care, John from Australia
Sounds great, I'm listening on my earphones as I cycle to church for the Easter vigil. Wishing you, Caroline and Hugo a very happy Easter. :) God bless. X
Great music, great playing and great visuals - and thanks, Richard , for giving our old girl the attention she deserves - y'all come back and do a recital sometime, eh?
A truly memorable concert. Beautiful music ,a very excellent and talented organist, fantastic and great surroundings brought to us by some superb video recording work and a Father Willis. What more can I say? This has been a wonderful Easter week . Happy Easter everyone!
Sensational!!! Thank you Andrew for a spectacular performance: every piece given a thrilling interpretation on the magnificent Willis organ. Richard - thank YOU for presenting such a wonderful audio-visual event: truly immersive!!! Bravo :D
It's weird to think that this willis organ is smaller than the one in blenheim palace...A private residence. I still think this is a classic willis organ, and it can't be beaten.
Dear Richard and Caroline, (and Hugo and Nala and Bobbie) Thank you as always for all of your uplifting awesomeness. Does BiS - VC have 300 Patreons yet? That is yet another reason for Springtime celebration. Happy Easter! Now then: How is the development of the new organ console going? We await your wisdom with great anticipation. Mahogany or Oak?
An amazing transcription of one of my favourite orchestral pieces from many years ago - early 1950's. Eric Fenby who adjudicated some pieces I wrote for the Hastings Music Festival Music Composition Competition, would have been delighted I imagine! Did he arrange it for Organ? Michael
It's been a week later, but I'm looking forward to it. It will be after delivery, but I will see it. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom here, and they will soon be scattered. Many cherry blossoms are planted in front of the nearby factory and in the gymnasium, which is spectacular. Please be careful about your physical condition and do your best live.
There are some composers whose orchestral works are too subtle to be transcribed for organ without losing a great deal. Delius is one of them. Or so I thought until about 10 minutes ago. Yet another thing to admit to being wrong about.
One small detail about editing: The level difference between the full organ at the end of Reubke and the organist announcing the next piece is only 6 dB, which makes the spoken level unnaturally high (I listen with peaks at 100 db SPL).
The organ is one instrument i desire to play. But i just can't understand why it's hard for me to learn. Bought a Casio yet, i can't even play the C major scale consistently. Nothing hurts me more than this. Wish i could play just one Hymn.
An enjoyable video, Reubke's Sonata on 94th is one of my favourites, if not The Favourite. I made a direct comparison between Guillou at Trinity Church NYC and this Truro recital playing a CD (Dorian DOR-90106) roughly synchronised with the video. While your recording sounds impressive, it is somewhat vague in organ placement, which must spring the fact that microphones are to the side and mostly capturing reflected sounds, not a clear picture of the instrument, also mixing several pairs sprinkled here and there does not help with the imaging. Dorian used to record their Guillou series with just two fairly wide (1.5m or so) spaced small diaphragm hightsmaller the diaphragm the more omni the mic is, thus giving truer AB stereo. I can imagine hearing the sound details from inside the organ. Just something to ponder. As I have mentioned before Guillou's interpretations were unconventional. He ends Reubke with paused staccato cords. Try it, you might like it!
Thanks Kari. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and what and acelade to be compared to Guillou. I have indeed tried the ending in various ways, and think that the brutal ending with no rallantando is simply more exciting.
@@andywee02 Certainly simply stretching the last 7 chords would not work, but the staccato/echo effect is quite impressive in good acoustics. Guillou 23 seconds, You 7 seconds... Both sound good in different ways. Well played anyway, with no retakes (?). I wish I could try to record this organ. The swell box sounds extremely effective, by the way.
@@MrHarmonicminor I personally have never mixed closer and ambience microphones for organ recording. Asking for trouble. Just AB omni pair (Sennheiser MKH8020), or hypocardioids (Gefell M950) in good position to catch both reasonable image and right amount or reverb. Sometimes a DIY Jecklin disk and also DIY acoustic pressure equaliser balls depending on the situation if more directivity is needed without loosing the low end. Naturally the placement of this particular organ is problematic.
@@MrHarmonicminor Yes, I know everything is allowed as long as you do not get caught. I have made couple of recordings in churches which, while having good instruments, are quite dead acustically, not really big enough for cathedral sound. Still a certain engineer is able to make excellent recordings there with beautiful reverb, and I suspect the secret is Bricasti M7. So here also the simplest solution might have been just a close pair of cardioids, then dial in "Truro" from Bricasti in edit...
Can advertisers pls wait for a piece of music to finish before showing your ads? No consideration to the viewer. Who places the ads in the videos as I must have a word with that person.
The advertising on the video supports Richard's channel and he does a very good job of offering this to all to us. He can only control mid-roll ads (unless they have been placed automatically as he states). The solution would be to upgrade your account to TH-cam Premium so you don't see any of the ads (and Richard still receives support from TH-cam).
@@james.flores Hi James, I presume the advertisers pay YT to advertise on the various sites & in turn give to the artist's sites. It is the frequency, placing of ads in wrong places (during a piece of music) & same advertisers eg Netflix, Monday.com, super telescope that is annoying. YT is NOT TV.. Surely the ads can be placed between pieces. Would you like to attend a live concert & be interrupted by recorded ads? I doubt it. Ads should be related to the programme they are advertising on.. Thank You Very Much, Andrew and Richard!👌🔥

Andrew… Just Amazing !!!
Beautiful 🙏
Richard, presume you've heard Truro has new DOM. I'm sad it is not Andrew😢😢

Watched Truro's Eucharist Service and Andrew's organ playing which reminded me to rewatch this. Wonderful Easter recital!!🙏🙏

You’re welcome, and thank you for your nice comment!

I will return to watch and listen following Easter Mass

@@beautyinsound Killing the adverts somehow would be brilliant.
True genius. Playing to the Glory of God instead of the garbage that in no way can be called music.

The Delius, just sublime, absolutely sublime. The music they play in heaven 😀
What a fabulous recital something for everyone. The Delius was glorious very much reminder me of Jongen Chant Mai.

Wow! Pure mastery at work. Fantastic lesson in registration too (Reubke especially). Thank you.

Thanks to BEAUTY IN SOUND for sending this great organ music!

thoroughly enjoyed the recital. Thanks so much. Very well done, Andrew!

A beautiful recording Richard. Like all the views of the church.
Bravo for the total production!
And what an impressive sound of this organ, especially in the romantic & later pieces. Just great!
Brilliant Reubke. It's basically the Kylo Ren theme.
Bravo ! Absolutely amazing!❤👏

I wonder who the two idiots are who gave this a thumbs-down. A superb instrument, well-played & imaginatively recorded.
It’s more likely they have fat thumbs than they are idiots. Easily done accidentally to press the dislike on a small touchscreen, for instance.
